I very much enjoyed my time at Musicians Institute. The class sizes were very small to ensure that each student was able to have appropriate amounts of time and experience with the equipment and facilities. The professors were also excellent and well versed in their respective subjects.

B - 04/24/2020

My experience with Musicians Institute was pretty much the exact opposite of most reviews from students/alumni. I struggled heavily when it came to my studies, and found that most teachers and students wanted nothing to do with you if you weren't already at a certain level on your instrument. The people there really know how to make someone feel stupid when someone is trying to learn something new. I felt very discouraged being there, and found it to be a very "clickish" and cold environment. Impossible to make friends or any type of connections. I'm currently stuck in non-music related day job and have struggled to get gigs from the lack of help or guidance I needed. It seems like administrators only want to hear positive stories about graduates who succeed after MI, and have no concern with those who are struggling. Forget about any type of career assistance or job placement; anyone who receives that is someone who can make the school look good and attract new students.

It's an expensive school , but very good at what they do. They showed me there is so many ways to do things involving my voice and my skills in the school. they have private lesson rooms and also private studio time. With the live band practice they use to the one on one class they offer its all great and Im grateful I've learned.

Viktoriya - 06/20/2019

It is a great school, that has a lot of opportunities and I would definitely recommend for anyone that wants to get involved in the music scene.

Musicians Institute FAQS

  1. What is the Acceptance Rate at Musicians Institute?

The fall 2020 acceptance rate for Musicians Institute is 80%. That means, out of _____ applications received in 2020 , _____ students were offered admission. The number of males who applied was _____ vs the number of females which was _____.

  2. What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

If i could talk to myself as a high school senior with the knowledge and experience i have now, the [senior] me would definitely be a sceptic of what [now] me was telling him - but i would promise him that my advice would work...just as it will work for anyone else that wishes to lend an ear. I would tell myself to focus on the present, not the past or the future. That is not to say disregard the future completely, just acknowledge that i don't have control over it. What i have control over is the NOW, and what i do NOW controls what happens later. I would assure myself that no matter how scary the unknown of the future is, if i do what i can NOW, to prepare myself for THEN, things will all work out. Life is about balance, and so no matter how stressed i got working toward college and making the transition, i would tell myself to take a break, appreciate the NOW, be happy, and know that things will all work out in the end...because if you know they will, then they will.

  3. What do you consider the worst thing about your school? Why?

There are not enough drum practice-rooms for the amount of students that want to practice regularly. While everyone DOES get their practice time in, it's sometimes hard to get ample time when you need it, when you have to share with up to 5 people.

  7. What is the stereotype of students at your school? Is this stereotype accurate?

The students individually stands out, in clothing, head upright, and we are not scared of the world coming at us, actually I'm terrified, I want to be the best. We are serious about the gift we have been given and work hard to be who we are and where we want to go, that is of course, becoming a star in our own world. We are aware we may stand out. But then, our student ID must show. When people notice our status, instead of freaks that some might stenotype us, people stop the judgmental stereotype and smile, even stop and talk. I guess people feel we are wasting time and we are freaks, but something changes when people see your an MI student.

The professionals at our school have literally played with the best. Guitarist, pianists, bass players, drummers, and singers alike have toured and performed for thousands, with big names like Pink, Mr. Big, Megadeth, Nine Inch Nails, Hammerfalls, etc... Some of my instructors are top pros. Dave Weiner who played with Steve Vai, Jeff Young and the current Chris Broderick for Megadeth both taught there. We have master classes, concerts, clinics, and private lessons with some of the biggest names every week. Its a great place to be.
