I think Muskegon Community College is a very welcoming, interactive, helping school. The faculty are very nice, welcoming, and helpful with everything you may need. The campus building are very well cleaned and have provided me with everything I may need better my education. The three years I have been here I have felt nothing but love from the surrounding people here. I would recommend Muskegon Community College to anyone who asks, as well as promote them. Thank you.

MCC is a community college that caters to so many different people. It is not like a traditional University that would be primarily young aspiring adults, it also is a place for older adults to continue their education. That being said, their experience and knowledge helps other students during class discussions to get a feel of the real world. No matter what campus you go to MCC professors and its students seem to always have YOUR best interest before their own and want to see you succeed. Most students attend for two years to receive their associates and then transfer, but some stay to work toward a bachelor! No matter a students desired academic or career path, Muskegon Community College advisers, counselors, and professors are there to help students with every step. MCC offers classes that challenge students' minds and as a whole college, strives toward a brighter future by educating, empowering, and encouraging each person that walks its halls.

My overall opinion for Muskegon Community College, is we are such a great school, and very affordable to people looking to get an education. The class sizes are regular, and if you need to speak with a professor you can email, call, or drop into their office. Willing to help as well, if you can't get a hold of a professor we have multiple resources that can help students get grades back on track. We have a tutoring center where they can work with another student tutor, we also have our College Success Center. Students who place into Math 036-40 are recommended to come , and have study groups, or work with other teachers really great one on one learning center.

I think the college has a lot of good qualities, but they get diluted in the long run. I had a lot of crappy experiences. The counselors I had lead me into a very rough first year because they convinced me to take classes I was not prepared for. The accessibility of the professors also very much depends on the teacher. I loved math before i entered college. I even took advanced trig and pre-calc. however, my forst math professor routinely claimed that she "was not a math proffesor" she "was an engineere". That was very reassuring that my college put someone in a possition they were not 100{6f65e1278338a62264eed73e2adc5af8e2841420db12ceb4f80b8db22f3260ec} quailified for.

  2. What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

if i were able to travel back into time, i would tell myself to maintain my sense of getting it done now. there is a bad habit that one may pick up when going to college and that is procrastinating. procrastination has been the biggest obstacle while going to college. unless there is a well managed student i've seen even the most organized student procrastinate and turn in late work. if i were able to brush off procrastinating, i would have all A's in college, but because my reinforcment with procrastinating my homework, it comes immediately, and the reinforcement of getting my homework done in order to recieve a great grade in the class room comes later. although the reinforcement comes, it doesn't come quick enough. therefore, if i were able to go back in time, i would tell myself to stop procrastinating and get what i need to get done, done.

  4. What do you brag about most when you tell your friends about your school?

the credits will transfer to almost every other college in the u.s. unlike baker college whose credits may only transfer to ferris state university. the campus is beautiful, the staff is nice, the teachers are fair, and there are many places to study, and something else uniquely interesting, because the college was built on a river, the floors of the college are numbered backwards. its fun stuff.

  5. What do you consider the worst thing about your school? Why?

  7. What's unique about your campus?

it is very affordable...and very easy to maintain enough money using pell grants in order to cover the educations of so many students. the classes are prepared well, and most of the teacher's seem to care about their career and not the money it provides...most of teachers also work in other departments as well...and other schools which provide them with information that we may not know from other students in other schools..which is always fun.

  8. What kind of person should not attend this school?

I would not recommend MCC to those students who are seaking any kind of atheletics. It does not seem to me that there is a "following" for any of the teams that are sponsored by the school. I have yet to hear or see anything re: school sports or schedules...I think that it is a disadvantage to those students who wish to participate.

  13. What's the one thing you wish someone had told you about freshman year?

I wish I had known that college is not like High School. College expects more out of you and try to teach you different styles of how to do the work. Also wish I knew that you had to put more time into your homework and that it takes alot of work. College takes alot of your time just to sit in class lectures and then time to do alll the homework you are assigned.

  15. What's the most frustrating thing about your school?

Muskegon is a small town that has very little to offer in the way of entertainment. It is also a city built on a manufacturing history, primarily in the automotive industry, which is all but none existance in this day and age. This has a negative impact on students that must work to survive, the unemployment rate for the city of Muskegon is the highest in the country at over 15.5{4a082faed443b016e84c6ea63012b481c58f64867aa2dc62fff66e22ad7dff6c}. MCC is a two year school, most students when asked, including myself, would like to see it upgraded to a four year program.
