This is a great place to return to school. Everyone is open, welcoming, and helpful. Its nice to not feel like an oddity as an adult learner. The professors are helpful and kind and are willing to work with you. Additionally, NSCC makes it affordable and tries to help students in anyway they can... particularly those challenged with housing, food insecurity, and other such things.

This school is definitely a cheap school, and is a great place to check of general education requirements. I am transferring early because other than a classroom, there is not a lot to offer at this school. They do have clubs, but advising lacks a little bit.

The advice I would give myself is to stay focus in school. Keep my GPA up to a 3.0 or more. Join some activities. Think about where I want to be in 5yrs. Plan my future for my short and long term career goal. Give back to the community by doing volunteer work, charity, etc. Help others by mentoring the younger students keeping them focus on positive things like school, sports, or work. I would prepare myself for college.

  3. What's unique about your campus?

The best things about my school are the staff is so helpful. The classes are not so big there are not 40 to 50 kids in one class room. Teachers will stay as long as they need to with their students if they ask for their help on something. There is a nice computer lab for the students to do their work.

The construction going on at Nashville State, due to the increase in addmissions, has made maneuvering the campus a difficult process. I liked the feel of a small school at first, but now the increase in students, construction workers and unfinished buildings is a bit of a turn off to the school.

  8. What's the most frustrating thing about your school?

There is a very noticeable lack of motivation from most students. Many show up to class half-way through the period and many do not participate at all. The professors unfortunately accept this behavior and I feel that it hinders my learning ability. I enjoy group discussions and a controlled learning environment. I do not think that Nashville State Community College offers enough of either of those two things.
