What's the one thing you wish someone had told you about freshman year?

I wish that I knew that college is not the same as it was in high school. In high school I did not try as hard as I should have, and that transferred into my first year of college. If I could go back to my senior year self, I would tell myself to try harder, to buckle down on my academics, because this is the important stuff, this is the stuff I am basing the rest of my life off of. If I understood that, then maybe I would have the GPA I know I could achieve.

The food is good initially, but after a while you get sick of it because you're eating the same things every day. I wish I would've known this so that I could have brought more food from home. If I had mixed in a variety of my own food, I might not have gotten sick of the food as quickly.

I wish I would have known sooner the importance of coming back and gaining the education that I have been looking for. In past experiences, I have not had the best learning success that I know myself to be capable of achieving. Of this, my return to school was delayed or put off, but since coming back in September, my hesitation is no more, and I have embraced the opportunities for education with open arms.

One thing that I really wish I could have known was how to live with someone who is a stranger, with totally different views and experiences in many aspects of life in general, and in addition to that, I wish I had really known how few guys there are on campus because we are totally outnumbered by females 4:1, which may seem like a great thing at first, but not only is it just plain annoying, it is easier to just avoid them because otherwise they won't leave me alone.

I wish I had known there was only one professor in my major and how he taught.
