Nevada State University, formerly known as Nevada State College, is an incredible school! Campus is very safe and calm. As of now, there is a lack of resources around campus. There are limited shops, services, and places to eat. However, due to the recent name change Nevada State University has undergone, we hope to see an improvement in that. Despite that, the academic quality of this school is incredible. All the professors are genuinely interested in seeing students succeed. The class sizes for lectures do not get any larger than 40. There is a lot of support offered to students here, no one is ever alone! If you ask me, academic quality is more valuable than shopping areas.

Chasity - 04/07/2023

Nevada State College is excellent in both academics and social life. Despite the fact that the school is small, there are many events to attend and the social life is excellent. The staff is extremely friendly, and professors take their time when assisting students. There are many resources available to help students succeed, such as SI or 24 hour online tutoring, and they even care about mental health, with counselors on hand. Overall, Nevada State College is an excellent educational institution.

Britany - 10/07/2020

I am currently a freshman at Nevada State, so I can not have much opinion. I have only been on campus a couple of times. I have enjoyed my experience so far. The classes are small, so I always feel included. The campus is clean, and a safe place. It is easier to meet new people, and easier to reach for help. I want to continue attending Nevada State College, I love everything about it.

Andrew

I am a student at Nevada State College and my current major is business administration. When I started at Nevada State College it was the year of 2014 and I was very nervous because I had to figure out everything on my own. Thankfully the faculty there guided me as far as finding my classes, seeing which courses to take for my pre-requisites and making the next best action for every semester. I am proud to be a part of Nevada State College because everyone there is so welcoming and friendly. The classes are definitely smaller and I feel that I have more one on one time with my professors. I and my fellow classmates have more time to study, it is fewer distractions in the classroom environment, and since some of the classes only have up to 15 students sometimes. Every time I want to make an appointment with my guidance counselor it is never such a hassle we have an online booking appointment system which allows me to see what time fits my schedule since I am a full-time worker and student. When I first started at Nevada State College it was only two buildings now that time has progressed we have two brand new buildings. It is such a great privilege that my school is making history and I get to be a part of it. More students are enrolling every semester and with my experience, I can now guide the new students like if it was my first day again at Nevada State College. Ultimately when I get asked which college I go to I am happy to say I am a student at Nevada State College.

  2. What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

Overall, I’ve had an amazing college experience and Lincoln College has been very valuable for me to attend. Lincoln has helped me grow more as a student and individual. Lincoln College is a community college, however it offers the opportunities that four year schools offer, like finding independence away from home. Being in small classes helped me do well and achieve good grades because I got individual attention from the professor. I also made a lot of great friends from those classes. All the hard work paid off because I was inducted into Phi Theta Kappa Iota Chi the following semester. Phi Theta Kappa is an international honors society of two year colleges. Being part of this organization was a great opportunity for me, because it got me more involved at Lincoln. I was elected Vice President of our chapter this year. In addition, Lincoln College has given me the chance to not only be a leader academically, but also socially. As a sophomore, I was hired to be a Student Resident Assistant which has been very valuable to me because I help influence good values on other students, so they can be just as successful as me.

  3. What do you consider the worst thing about your school? Why?

I think that the only thing I do not like about NSC is that it is such a new school that their funding is not as great as the funding for other colleges therefore the library, book store, and overall campus is limited. This requires students to look elsewhere for things such as library book, supplies, and even classes. The college deserves more funding because the faculty and students are so devoted to the school and deserve the best.
