I suppose the openness to new ideas and the ability to strike up a conversation with anyone anytime and not have to ever end the conversation. Also, the caring everyone seems to have about each othere. It is a very tight knit community...
One of the best aspects of New College, was the school's intensive liberal arts curriculum. Teachers implemented constant research and critical thinking through papers and class discussions. There was never any busy work.
