In my opinion New Mexico Highlands University is an amazing university. It is a small university with classes no bigger than 50 students and it is very affordable especially for people that come from low income families. I highly recommend this university especially if you are a resident of New Mexico and other nearby states. We also have great sports programs, the sports we have include men/women basketball, wrestling, baseball, and rugby. Overall Highlands is a great university to go to after high school.
New Mexico Highlands University for me so far has been an amazing experience, there are many people who share my passions on campus and like many of the same things that I do. That is not to say though that it is not a diverse group of people who are on campus. We have many international students, and it is really diverse here for a small town in New Mexico. There is more to do on campus and outside in the town then there was in my previous year, and it is a luxury to have some of these items but not to many that it is distraction from school work, but enough to be sociable with friends, family and new people to be met in the community, and at the school! I have also experienced many amazing events and amazing features on this campus and new people that I never thought I would get out of beside a big city where I am from. The campus is big enough but small enough for a student to get around, I love the professors, not to mention the small class sizes where I am considered a person and not just a number or a student the professor doesn’t know. They are more than understanding about different family situations and very considerate of how people are coming into the school especially new freshman. After your first year, you pretty much know a lot about the campus already. Sure there are some things that could be fixed on the campus such as some of the buildings and maybe more inclusion but overall the experience I have had here are wonderful, I plan to even get my masters and staying in this town after I graduate!
Overall highlands has a lot of different classes and holds a free activity almost every night for students to partake in. They play movies every Wednesday and Friday. The professors are very available and willing to help students succeed. The school even provides on campus jobs that work around your class schedules.
I think it is very diverse. A lot of friendly feelings from the staff. There is tons of opportunities to study if your dorm is too loud. Everything is in walking distance. We even have a little store full of snacks, lighters, vitamins, medicine and other necessities.
The fall 2020 acceptance rate for New Mexico Highlands University is 100%. That means, out of _____ applications received in 2020 , _____ students were offered admission. The number of males who applied was _____ vs the number of females which was _____.
It is very important to visit many different colleges before making your decision. Make sure that you take everything into consideration. The most important thing you can do while in college is to get involved. Join clubs, participate in social functions, and join intramurals. It is vital to get involved while in college because it motivates you to do well in school. The most important piece of advice I can offer is that everyone messes up while in college, just get back on track and learn from your mistakes.
The worst thing about my school would be some disrespectful students who stay up long hours and make complaints.
The person to attend NMHU is one who wants to become a teacher or a student pursuing a degree in Literature.
I will be new to the school this semester and compared with many other schools in the state, the class sizes are small. The tuition rates are lower than the other 4 year institututions in New Mexico. Probably the best thing about it is how individualized the education is set up to be. There are many opportunities for one on one tutoring and extra help if you are struggling. Advising is individualized based on your needs with your chosen major and living situation. I commute, so they set all my classes on three days.
The most frustrating thing about New Mexico Highlands is the lack of information presented to seniors. Preparing to graduate has been frustrating because their is no direction on the procedures required to finalize the graduation process. Students must ask and spread the word among classmates. Also, other information has been incorrectly presented to students causing confusion and ultimate frustration.
Well anyone could attend school if the person is willing to make an effort to go to school. The type of person that is willing to learn something new and wants to better their life has a chance to go to school. Most people do not take the opportunity to see how school is a very important. Everyone has a will to get the grade and the chance to make a difference in their own way. Knowledge is the power to succeed in life and help achieve to the best of the person?s ability.
Very unique, diverse, resourceful, small, and at times fun.
The small class sizes.
They are friendly and nice.
Nothing, collegeboard.com help me chose Highlands University as my college.
It is mostly mexicans and hispanics.
This school is best known for one of the oldest universities in New Mexico being built in the 1800's! As well as this school has a very strong social work, science, art and education colleges that help every students become successful academically as well as socially.
Love it. The overall school is great. The professors are nice and friendly and since it's a small school you can actually get some one on one with your professors.
The good thing about this school is that since it's small you can go to your professors if you are having any type of problems or need help
In Highlands University we have a place called the Purple Brew. This place allows us to use computers and a place to finish our homework or any type of work.
I think it would be hard for the fact that there's going to be people that will offer you no matter what. It depends on yourself to accept or no.
To this point where I am which is pass mid-term I could say my professors are awesome people. They push me to get work done, they show that they care about your work and their willing to help you at any moment.
