It is a great Junior College to attend, campus is just the right size. Some of the classrooms could be upgraded. Great staff! Small town so not much to do, ok restaurants. Very reasonably priced for a better than average education. Very convenient if you live in or around Hobbs!

New Mexico junior college is filled with great professors, and wonderful classmates. Professors are almost always available, if you need the help then professors will be there to help out. Our school is so small that it is easy to make friends. I encourage those who are new to junior college that you get involved as much as you can. It will help you make lots of friends and college is enjoyable, it is supposed to be fun so enjoy college while you are there.

My overall opinion of New Mexico Junior College is very good! I like the college a lot because the professors do not recognize students as numbers, they see them as people and do the best of their ability to make sure the students are where they need to be and always help them do better.

I enjoy the close knit community. Pretty much you walk around campus and know a lot of people but we also have people from all over the world. It is a great place to meet new people but it is also a very safe environment. I do wish we had more sports and activities to do but we make do with what we have.

New Mexico Junior College appeared to be a great college. They take their sports' teams very seriously and people are very proud to be a part of the action. The teachers are always available to their students and encourage them to learn and ask questions. The people are friendly and the community seems to support the local students.

Describe how your school looks to someone who's never seen it.

NMJC is a great college. Here at the college there is very nice people that like to help me in any way they can. I am pleased in how the instructors treat the students and how they teach. The apartments I live in here at the college are like our homes. The workers at the apartment respect me and the rest of the students. I am glad I chose the NMJC to attend and stay on campus. It could not get any better.

Describe the students at your school.

The classmates I have are nice. They also help me in any way they can. Here at the NMJC we students help everyone to success. I could not have better classmates then here at the New Mexico Junior College.

What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

The advice I would give myself is that I need to realize going to college is a lot and going to have to take responiblity. I would also tell myself to fill out scholarships to help out my parents in any way I can. Going to college is a lot of money so filling at as many scholarships I can is what I would have done as a senior. But not noticing that college was so much, I just let all the scholarships. Now I do regret not take advantage of the scholarships. I wish I could go back in time and be a senior in high school just to fill out the scholarships.

What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

As far as academics are concerned, I would try harder to retain the information I learned. A lot of the information learned in college classes builds on what is learned in High School. I would also try harder to apply what I learned to real life in order to help it stick in my mind. I hate being a situation and thinking that there is a way that I can solve a problem if only I could remember how to do it. A high school senior should absolutely start working on college applications and scholarship applications as soon as possible. This takes a lot of work and time, but the benefits can be substantial. I also think that seniors should take a little time to have fun and socialize with their friends as, many times, they get really wrapped up with current and future academics and extracurricular activities. I would also really try to think about my career plans because it helps when picking out a degree plan.

What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

I would have given myself the advice to be more prepared than I already was. I tried to prepare myself financially, mentally, etc. for the transition, but being more prepared would have helped greatly. I did not recieve financial aid, so I knew it would be tough, but I believe if I would have started saving up money before my senior year I would have been better off financially. Also, I would say talk to the school counselors more and the teachers in my major in order to become fimiliar with the campus and staff. Knowing the teachers and who to talk to is an important factor in order to stay on track.

What's the one thing you wish someone had told you about freshman year?

I wish I would have known about all the organizations in the school before hand. For example, I am now in Student Support Services. If I would have known about this organization before I began shcool I would have signed up then. It is a great organization in helping and aiding students with multiple ordeals.

What do you consider the worst thing about your school? Why?

I have not discovered anything horribly bad about my school so far. I believe the school could have a little bit more communication with one others departments in order to provide better service to the students and/or prospective students. Communication is key.
