Overall great preparatory school for those who pursue the military experience. Junior College program is one of the best in the nation and has great opportunities academically and for athletics, with national playoff and championship wins under its belt. Demands commitment with its discipline system, instilling in students time management, honor/integrity, commitment, among others. Offers several extracurricular opportunities but could be better. Has great potential for developing leadership experience in those that choose to apply themselves.

I believe that New Mexico Military institute is an amazing school to learn how and where one will and shall go in the world. Students who've gone in to New Mexico Military Institute with little or no learning experience will come out as a strong, independent and knowledgeable individual.

DaisyRose

The prestigious New Mexico Military Institute is a dynamic and diverse environment capable of tending to every cadet’s need. I have come to learn that this institute has helped better myself academically, physically and mentally. I would recommend it for it’s ability to instill discipline in every individual prior to entering the military or real life situations.

  2. What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

The first and most important piece of advice I would offer to my former self would be to avoid locking yourself into a single school too early. Apply to many different schools and scholarship programs, for the more options you have, the more likely you are to find the perfect match to the experience you are looking for. Secondly, I would recommend that that my historical self does not go to college unless they are ready to put forth the amount of work required to succeed at the collegiate level. Finally, I would recommend that he does not slack off senior year. The transition from secondary school to post-secondary education is a challenging one, and college preparation classes can be beneficial. The more effort put forth in high school will do nothing but facilitate the transition, making the first semester of college more enjoyable. Thank you for your time and consideration.

  3. What kind of person should attend this school?

Students who require motivation to study, or who work more effectively in a structured environment would succed well at the New Mexico Military Institute. Opportunities to recieve extra assistance from the professors, combined with required stury periods on all school nights is a definite benefit for students. The structured military environment maintained at the school aids students in the avoidance of trouble, and gives the cadets an opportunity to grow not only accademically but personally as well.

  4. What's the most frustrating thing about your school?

The most frustrating experiences at my current school are the double standards that exist. I often witness athletes or ROTC cadets getting away with things that would likely get me kicked out of the school. I believe that every individual at an educational institution deserves to be treated exactly the same as every other. The standards should not vary simply depending on the activities that the cadets participate in. Educational institutes must focus on education before they worry about their next sports championship. Money that goes to the football team could be better spent on educational facilities.
