It's a great school for anyone looking to lean into a college experience. It's fairly cheap but there are still a lot of resources available. The teachers are mostly really nice. There is a good variety of classes and class sizes. I think if you're someone who's anxious about going to college Normandale is a great place to start. You can live at home while still getting the feel for what the work is like.

Perla

It is a great affordable school. Counseling is terrible there they don't help nd might even discourage you. Yet, overall the teachers, and facilities are great. There is a calm and neutral environment perfect for studying in and be surrounded by.

Jenna

Great campus with faculty that care about you. Affordable textbooks and a high chance of obtaining a scholarship. There are a lot of ways to be involved in campus including, clubs, volunteering, programs, and on campus jobs. There is no housing or sports.

DANNY

It's local, accomandating, and admirable.

Normandale Community College FAQS

  1. What is the Acceptance Rate at Normandale Community College?

The fall 2020 acceptance rate for Normandale Community College is 100%. That means, out of _____ applications received in 2020 , _____ students were offered admission. The number of males who applied was _____ vs the number of females which was _____.

  2. What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

Do not waste time and do not waste your money. Take advantage of post-secondary option, take the AP classes and study hard on the tests. Don't worry about what your "friends" are doing or going, they are only focused on the now and have no concept of setting up their lives for an easier future. Take interest in what interests you and find ways to incorporate those intersts into your high school career. For example, if you like playing an instrument, join the band, doing well in your classes, tutor others, etc. All of these "above and beyond" applications of yourself will not only be something you can share with a college you are interst in but such applications will deepen you ethically, morally and personally building you up to be a stronger, more resiliant and positive person. Good luck, don't sweat the small stuff, don't judge others and be open to all ideas and opinions no matter how obscure they may be at the time.

Normandale is a very well known community college in Minnesota. It is a very goor two-year college. It coincides with the Minnesota Transfer Cirriculum, so the credits transfer relatively easily. The staff and faculty are there to make sure that their students learn, and not for money like some of the teachers at larger colleges and universities. Normandale also has a very diverse student body, and tons of clubs and organizations for people to participate in. Normandale offers a pleasant enviroment for students who want to start their education at a community college.

  8. What are the academics like at your school?

My favorite class has been chemistry. The general chemistry class has a laboratory section. One day your in class discussing the theories and knowledge of chemistry. During the labs you get to experience these ideas in a very hands on experience. The labs are also designed in a way to stimulate your critical thinking skills. I also took a calculus 1 course that had what I would call a lab. Which is something I've never experienced in a math class but was very nice to collaborate with peers and have a change of scenery in a class that at times can be very heady and monotonous.

  11. What's the one thing you wish someone had told you about freshman year?

Before I came to Normandale, I did not know a whole lot about college. I wish that I would have known more about how to finance school, and more about the different kinds of loans available to students. Having more information about those would have helped better plan for my future schooling. I also would have liked to know more about how credits worked, and tranferred, and more about the programs within school. They have counselors that are available, however they did not know much about the individual programs and degree's offered at Normandale.
