North Carolina State University is an amazing place to go to school. The people there are all really friendly and the teachers genuinely care about the students well being and want their students to succeed even if that requires extra work on their part. The campus is beautiful and being a part of this college gives you access to a community unlike any other

While I'm certain that every student faces some amount of anxiety prior to entering college, I know for a fact that this experience can be even more stressful for minority students entering a PWI (predominantly white institution). I grew up in a Mexican family and my culture has always been very important to me however I worried that by entering a PWI I would not have have this same connection with my own culture or even have other Latino friends on campus. This on top of the many other stresses that come with starting fresh at a university plagued my summer. However, I was pleasantly surprised when I received an invitation to a Multicultural Symposium that was held at before the school year began for minority students. Here I had the opportunity to meet other minority students like myself while also learning about the many different resources that this school had to offer. By the time classes began my nerves were much more at ease now that I had a better feel for the school and didn't feel so alone. I was even able to join some of the many Latinx clubs that were available here which made adjusting to college so much easier now that I had found my own community. On top of this I have been able to learn about many other cultures and groups of people because of the emphasis that this school places on diversity education and inclusion. When I first joined NC State I knew that I would be joining a family of thousands of students but I didn't expect to also find my own community of Latinx students. I love NC State, I bleed red and white , and will forever be proud to call myself a member of the Wolfpack.

I will be a first-time graduate student at North Carolina State University starting this August, but my overall impression of the school so far is that it is great! I am incredibly excited to start my academic journey here, and cannot wait to see what the future has in store for me.

I have had the time of my life so far at NC State. It is my happy place, and a place that I feel safe. I have met my best friends there and I have loved every minute of being involved on campus. Being a part of the wolfpack community has truly made a huge impact on my life, and I will never forget the memories I have made. The professors and the students I pass while walking on the brick walkways around campus are genuinely nice, caring, and always helpful. I wouldn't trade my school for the world.

What is your overall opinion of this school?

NC State is a great school! It has a large and open campus, which is great for walking around in and exploring and there are plenty of study places. There are large libraries, plenty of coffee shops, and lots of room in the student union plus more! My biggest complaint, with the university would be that some of the buildings are designed in non-intuitive ways. Sometimes you can only access certain floors through certain elevators or there will be stairs leading to certain levels, but not all levels, and it can be a bit confusing and annoying. There also isn't that much lighting at night in a lot of places, but the area is usually pretty safe. But the academics are great and there is no shortage of extracurricular opportunities. There are several online resources to help you find those opportunities and it is easy to get in contact with professors and counselors who will gladly help you in courses or career decisions.

What is your overall opinion of this school?

From the colorful creativity of the free expression tunnel to the red lit bell tower on a game winning night, NC State is a university filled with decades of tradition. Though State is home to over 30,000+ students, I have never felt more welcomed and accepted by the peers who surround me each and every day. There are more clubs, sororities, fraternities, student services, organizations, and classes than I can count and they are all available to you, the student! The beauty of State doesn't stop there though, the campus itself is breathtaking and incomparable to any other university. Rustic bricks blanket the grounds from top to bottom and modern buildings, technology, and designs have been incorporated throughout to compliment the old with the new. The Wolfpack is always growing, but I believe that the more there are, the stronger we will be. As they told me on my first day of orientation, "For the strength of the pack is the wolf, and the strength of the wolf is the pack."

I love NCSU! I couldn't imagine going to any other school. It's a pretty big school but that's what I love about it! There's so much to do and there's so many people to meet. I remember before attending the school people would tell me when you walk to classes everyday you'll always see people who don't recognize. However, this is not true because wherever I go on campus I always see at least one person I know, and this makes the school seem a little smaller. To me, State provides a bunch of opportunities to make a great college experience, but it's the people I met there that made my freshman year unforgettable!

It is a great place to study and meet new friends. The campus is huge and the people are diverse. There is always something to do on the weekends, either on campus or in the surrounding areas. There are numerous clubs to join and activities to be involved in.

What is your overall opinion of this school?

I am going into my sophomore year at NC State and I have enjoyed myself so far. I love the community, everyone is friendly and approachable. Every professor I have had has been very passionate about the subjects they teach, even though some professors are better than others. Like every college, NC State does have its cons. I live off campus because the on campus dorms are not the best, and the food in the dining halls is not that great either. I find this university does not give out a lot of money in scholarships at all, which is why I'm thinking of transferring. I have a very high GPA, and it is still a fight for the financial aid department to look at my applications. As a female, I don't feel safe walking around campus at night. It is not well lit at all, and if I do go out at night it is usually with at least one other friend. As far as going off campus, all we have is Hillsborough Street which only has a handful of places to eat. I wish we had more options as far as places to eat and things to do off campus. Football and basketball are the most popular sports here, and there is always a ton of school pride and support for our athletes. With my major, I absolutely love our business school. It is one of my favorite buildings on campus and is really nice compared to the other buildings we have. Our advising department in particular is great. As far as academics, be prepared to study. Good grades don't come easy here, you need to be prepared to put the time and effort in if you want those A's. It sounds scary, but it is achievable. Also, if you are looking for a beautiful campus with a lot of scenery, you won't find that here. There is red brick everywhere, on every building and on the floor. Overall, NC State has treated me well, I just don't know if there is enough incentives for me to stay.
