There are not any major stereotypes that I have heard of, although I tend to hear that students at State are only engineers or agriculture majors. There is little mention of other majors. This is partially accurate, although not completely true. North Carolina State University is mostly composed of engineering and agriculture majors, but also offers a wide variety of majors.
NCSU is perceived as an agricultural school or engineering school.
rednecks
A lot of interested student are turned off when they realize how large the campus is and think it would be impossible for them to find anything. Also, as a large agriculture school, outsiders seem to think we're all just a bunch of country hicks with no diversity on our campus.
Stereotypes? there like 30,000 people here, we've got just about every kind of person you can imagine. Some examples: our computer and engineering buildings can be fun to watch as classes change because all you see are middle-easterners coming out (like 80{4a082faed443b016e84c6ea63012b481c58f64867aa2dc62fff66e22ad7dff6c} of them). But, overal NCSU has a very diverse group of students, I can't even begin to think about listing any specific stereotypes besides maybe a little hint of southern influence overall.
They are rednecks, foreigners, or not as smart as UNC-Chapel Hills students.
It's been often said that NCSU students hate Carolina with a passion.
That we are all agriculture students and hicks.
They call us "cow college" and they think all students are rednecks who couldn't get into UNC. They say our campus is ugly and all brick. They say we have no rival, that UNC doesn't care about us. They say our male/female ratio is 60/40 and worse.
One of the main stereotypes is that NCSU that it is a "hick" school. Yes there are good agricutural programs at State and you have farmer boys but there are all sorts of people at State. You can find somewhere to fit in with no problem.
Some people call us a farm college since we've got an agriculture school and some 2 year degree programs that have... something to do with farming. Also, people say that there's no women or bad looking women around campus, since we're such an engineering-heavy school.
country, low class, no style
Hicks, farmers, homo-phobes
Country
Some people would probably stereotype NCSU students as being "red-necks" with big trucks and confederate flags on their cars.
that we are not an accepting school
that they are rednecks
We have a stereotype as being extremely southern and conservative. We also have a stereotype as not being as good academically and athletically as neighboring schools.
I've heard people from UNC say that State is just a bunch of rednecks. Haha, I mean, we do have a big agricultural program here, but there is definitely a greatly diverse presence here at NC State.
Farmers, lots of guys, bad greek life, huge school
The sterotypes that I hear most often is that everyone is from a farm background, and that we aren't smart students
I have commonly heard that NCSU students "like to have a good time"..whatever it takes
I don't really know any. Maybe they are all farmers...I haven't heard any
rednecks, math and science,
They are not as smart as students at UNC.
farmers, farm school
some stereotypes are that states students are mainly fraternity/sorority types and farmers
I am not from North Carolina so I am unfamiliar with many of the stereotypes about NCSU and the students. I suppose that alot of students are country hicks could be one stereotype.
We're all rednecks.
Agriculture school, lots of rednecks
We're all country hicks who aren't very smart
all rednecks
mostly engineers
1. Students only go to NCSU if they don't get into Carolina. 2. NCSU is only good for engineering.
That our campus population is heavily composed of rednecks and farmers.
There may be stereotypes but I shatter them.
That the school only deals with animals, farm animals to be exact, and the students are all red necks who just want to learn how to take care of the farm animals.
They are not as intelligent as those who go to UNC or Duke NCSU is made up of "rednecks" and "hicks"
Hmm...well I heard that everyone thinks we're nothing but farmers...we are an agriculture school.
Overly conservative, backwoods farm kids.
All engineering students. Greek Life sucks.
-That all of us are agriculture majors. -That we couldn't get into UNC-CH.
That if you can't get into UNC or Duke you go to NCSU, therefore were not as "smart" as the rest of them.
we are the "stupid" kids from NC because we go to the agriculture school; we attend "moo u"
That everyone is really country, the "farmers."
We are redneck, country people that all grew up on farms
NCSU is primarily an engineering and/or agriculture college. The guy to girl ratio is greater.
All students are country and farmers. We are not as good as UNC Chapel Hill, and we have a boring campus. A lot of the students are engineers.
that we are dumb rednecks that couldn't get into UNC
