North Park University Top Questions

What's the one thing you wish someone had told you about freshman year?

Rachel

I wish I had known more about living in the city, or more specifically Chicago. I wish I had known more about the surrounding area of the campus and the life outside the classroom that accompanies going to North Park.

Jaimie

I wish I had known about scholarships before I came to North Park University. My senior year of high school, I didn't know anything about scholarships, so I didn't apply for any and I regret it now. When this semester of college began, my friend told me she is paying $1000 for a year?s tuition at North Park while I am paying $14,000. Because I would like to start a savings account I am applying for scholarships now. I only wish I had known about the vast resources available last year.

Emily

I wish that I would have known that jobs were harder to get than the brochures made it sound. A scholarship I received for being financially needy took me out of the university's work-study program. I also would have liked to have known just how loud the girls' dorm was at night and how much drinking/drugs were on campus (There's a significant amount even though the school is a dry campus.).

Selena

I wish I would have known more about financial aid. I'm always panicking and worrying about how I'm going to get tuition paid, and it gets worse every semester. It's been a major struggle for me the past couple of semesters, but I just keep telling myself it will be worth it when I have that degree in a few years.

Samantha

I wish I could have known what undergraduate programs have the most funding and are the strongest.

Tim

People are just as friendly as advertised, and professors really do care. Don't worry about whats going to happen before you get there.

kyle

Anything. I didn't know anything before I came out here. It would have been nice to know something

Alyssa

I did a lot of reasure before i applied to North Park, there wasn't any suprizes when I moved here. It was, however, hard to adjust to the big city life.

I think I had a realistic understanding of North Park before I came.

The lack of involvement of University Ministries in Academia life; as well as the lack of academic prestige and academic focus by the students and faculty.

I wish I would have known how single minded this campus is and how unorganized and unhelpful the financial aid/ student services departments are.
