NAU is a good school, but there are somethings that are a bit obnoxious. Some of the departments on campus, mainly parking services, will find any reason to screw you over and give you a fine or make you pay more money. However, I haven't met a person at NAU that is mean spirited which is a good thing.

Northern Arizona is an amazing school, one that I've grown to love as a new home. Being away from home you think you would everyone would get homesick and not used to the new environment. At NAU I've had many to support me and help me transition into college, falling in love with the campus itself. I love it there and I am excited for the next 3 years that await for me at Northern Arizona University.

Great university, been doing online courses for a while now and I really like all of the courses that I have been offered. I enjoy using black board to communicate with my instructor and all of the students in my classes to hear about what they have to say.

What is your overall opinion of this school?

Northern Arizona University is a prestigious university and it a great place to to get a decent education. It's a "Hotspot" (name for the buffet in the student union ) for cultural diversity and for all types of people, no matter your race, gender, sexual orientation, religion, etc. Every staff member will make sure that you fit in this university and that you get the quality education you are paying for. The classes are not big in class size except for common classes like Psychology, Biology and some Anthropology classes. Most class sizes are around 15 to 30 students for each class, which is standard and particularly small. The professors actually do pay attention to you and make sure that you know their office hours and the content that they are teaching. Of course there are some professors who don't bat an eye, but each students experience is different and these are mine. Overall the university is a great place to go for a higher education. Great people, good professors and a view that can't be beaten by any other.

Being an out-of-state student, I was nervous and didn’t know what to expect. But once I got there during orientation, I didn’t feel alone as they welcome me with open arms, introducing me to a program they called “peer jacks” which is where upperclassmen mentor out-of-state freshmen. Throughout the school year, I’ve had nothing but brilliant and compassionate professors. For example, when my stepbrother passed away a week after thanksgiving break, I had to fly home to Texas for his funeral and when I informed them of this, they were more than understanding, giving me the option to push back a major exam for a couple of days after I came back to campus. Furthermore, there was not a time where I felt alone on campus as I got involved with the tennis club and eventually became my second family as we bonded through practices and the road trips down to Albuquerque for tennis tournament. I especially felt the family love at the end of this school year, as I told them I would be transferring to Texas Tech University because the cost of attending out of state was getting too much. So, they surprised me with a giant tennis ball, and they all wrote personal notes on it. Overall, my freshman year at Northern Arizona University was memorable, bittersweet, and I do not regret going out-of-state even though I am transferring back to Texas because I have made so many friends that became family, professors that have helped steered me into a better path for my aerospace engineering career, and for the unforgettable experience that I will continue to take with me. Go Jacks!

I think the Northern Arizona University is a well-funded school in terms of campus facilities and draws, but needs to focus more on affordability for students. The Financial Aid system needs to include information not listed on the FAFSA, such as debt, family situation, and other factors that give a more accurate overview of the student's financial situation than what's solely available on the FAFSA. The on-campus and off-campus housing features are decently great, but are a little outside the realm of realism for most students who have to pay out of pocket or are attending university out-of-state. In the long run, NAU is too expensive for the lesser-off workforce and student population.

When thinking about a college, you are often thinking about a mixture of different aspects to make sure you found the perfect one. Northern Arizona University has the perfect blend of academics, social gatherings, and entertainment mixed in to be the perfect school for anyone. If you are someone who is looking for great academics with close teacher relations, NAU offers it. Even though I have only completed one full year at NAU so far, I have had multiple intimate classes where I can really get to know the professor. NAU offers incredible social events such as a bonfire, the running of the freshman and a full-on carnival with rides. If you're looking to get involved and make friends, you have every opportunity to as well. The surrounding city of Flagstaff is full of life and character and really highlights the mountain town aspect. NAU is the right place for anyone.

NAU was one of several Arizona universities I was interested and what won me over was the small college town feel, small classroom sizes, and the beautiful scenery. I never regretted coming to NAU. My love for this school only grows more each day. I hold two leadership positions on campus. One where I tour perspective students and show them the world I get to live in. The other I get to tutor students in my academic college and make sure all current students are succeeding. I am so proud of this school and hope that this can help students choose what college is right for them!
