Northern Arizona University is a great school overall. There’s a few interesting architectural buildings and the campus is easy to navigate. The academics are great and the faculty, besides a handful, are all excellent and understanding. On days you are able to escape away from class you can do virtually anything you want. Flagstaff is a college town that offers nightlife, shopping, cuisine and of course, the great outdoors. The weather is wonderful; we have all four seasons. Flagstaff is especially great if you enjoy the outdoors since we're close to the Grand Canyon and other national parks. The instructors are wonderful and they take the time to get to know their students. Academically, if you take the time to study and communicate with your instructors then it's not too difficult. Spend your day going to class, go for a hike then go downtown for drinks with your friends. The students here are very friendly and making friends is easy because of all the clubs and sports you can join. North and South Campus are kinda far apart. You have to walk about 15-20 minutes between campuses. There are shuttles but sometimes they get really crowded and it become very hard to get off. There are lots of activities to do on campus. There is at least one concert each month and many games throughout the year. Most of the classes sizes here aren't too big. Most of my classes have 20-30 people in them. There are also a lot of academic resources that NAU provides for their students to succeed in their classes. Overall, NAU is a solid university to attend and I'm glad that I picked it. Go Jacks

Northern Arizona University is a gorgeous campus with great academics and perfectly balanced class sizes. Students seem to enjoy their time and accept one another, opinions are shared, discussed and respected. Students also seem to have a decent amount of freedom and have access to plenty of enjoyable things to do not only in town but around campus.

NAU is perhaps the worst university in whole of America. I kid you not! It is the worst university ever. Especially their history dept. is absolutely pathetic. Moreover, talk about flagstaff - what a shitty place. There is no research culture at all. They hire shitty faculty with negligible amount of PhD’s. I wish I had rather gone to a university in Afghanistan for my undergrad. I seriously, gravely, regret my decision to join NAU.

Like any school it has it's good things and it's not so good things. There are good professors and professors that everyone hates. The best way to know about the school is to talk to students who have been there for more than a year and seen all the sides of it. Try to keep an open mind. Don't get easily discouraged when you do get the bad professors, the TAs are usually good.

Never come to Northern Arizona University unless you wanna become a teacher or scientist of some kind, if not you're 300% screwed over by time scheduling, prices of living, prices of campus, this would make anybody go completely insane. I lived on campus which wasn't bad by any means but trying to do projects when none of the teachers for the VC department even help or are brain-dead. Go to an graphic design school in California fam.

I love Northern Arizona University! The people on and around campus are all extremely nice , the community is wonderful! The staff is extremely friendly and always willing to help when needed. Teachers have regular office hours and will allow appointments to be made if you cannot make it to office hours. There is other options than teachers for help, you can go to the Union and get free tutoring on pretty much any subject needed. All in all Northern Arizona University is wonderful and i love the community!

I mean, it just kind of depends. I like the school, the town, and a vast majority of my peers. The campus is gorgeous and there are a lot of events both at the school and in the town that encourage community and creativity. However, the counseling services can be slightly frustrating, especially Freshman year. Additionally, the new layout for schedules, doing both spring and fall at once, is incredibly stressful.

It’s an amazing school where the faculty wants you to succeed. Students are there to learn so the environment is energetic and ecstatic. The difference between my community college and this university is incomparable in the best way possible. I’d recommend this school to anyone who is trying to make a difference in their future.

Northern Arizona is Situation in the small town of Flagstaff Arizona. That being said, this is a small town. If that is not for you then I would not recommend this University. But, if you enjoy the small town feel as well seeing all 4 seasons then NAU is a really good fit. There is an abundance of resources to help you succeed such as free tutoring, review sessions, and there is even a food distributing service on campus if you are hungry. However, the freshman level courses are huge and sometimes the professors can be unhelpful and even condescending. But, tutors and TAs are a valuable resource for classes like this. You are more likely to get to know them and develop a positive connection with them. If you are looking to get involved, NAU is a great place for this. There are many club sports like soccer, softball, frisbee, archery, and paintball. Also, there is a never ending list of clubs on NAUs website. If you like it, there is most likely a club for it. All in all NAU is a good smaller college if large campuses arent for you, freshman classes are always big, but dont let this discourage you. After my first semester my professors were caring, attentive, and very awesome.
