Overall my opinion of NOVA is that is a great school to go to, and that is a good choice when it comes to trying to figure out what college a person should go to. This is because while they do not offer bachelor degrees, they do offer a wide variety of associate degree's. In addition to that they have a lot of counselors that are available for both walk-ins and appointments. It has a nice, friendly environment that is welcoming when a person walks on to campus. They have several campus's, so students that live further away can look for one of the campus's that is closer to them, and receive the same education as other students at a different campus.

NOVA (Northern Virginia Community College) has many campuses in the northern Virginia area. I attend the Manassas campus, which is the smallest of them. The campus itself is nice and cozy with beautiful scenery. It’s located right next to the battlefield so there’s always wildlife out and about. Overall it’s a beautiful campus, the classrooms themselves could use some remodeling. But all the professors are great at what they do and always willing to help.

Great institution. Go's above and beyond to ensure academic excellence. I do wish there were more opportunity in terms of internships and scholarships on campus. The student body works very hard to make campus life interesting, which is a intensely commendable thing.

Returning to school after 3 years of being a homeschool graduate of 2015; NOVA (Northern Virginia Community College) a 2-year college welcomed me as I lived in Northern Virginia for one year from my hometown Pittsburgh, PA. I wanted to pursue my dreams of IT (Information Technology) and I knew nothing on how to sign up or to start taking academic classes, NOVA informed me that they are an open door for all types of students despite on their gender, race, religion, having a high school diploma, GED, no academic history, disability and even people who serve in the military. I was given a student advisor who pointed me to the right directions on taking an English and Math placement test first before starting anything; there was no failing or unfailing just to see were my academic level was at. She advised me to join a program called GAA “Guaranteed Admission Agreement” as a NOVA graduate you are guaranteed and a admission to more than 40 area colleges and universities of your choice when you meet the agreement requirements between NOVA and that university. I proudly choose George Mason University as my transfer University; Go Patriots! I was so new to the area I had a choice to take my classes online as an ELI student (an ELI – Extended Learning Institution student is a student who takes classes online) NOVA allows you to take classes online, and classes at any of their seven campus located in Alexandria, Annandale, Loudon, Manassas, Woodbridge, Springfield, and Reston, Virginia. In Spring of 2018, I started as an official student of NOVA following my dreams of IT! I couldn’t be more excited! Tackling courses in the springtime were hard but I got the job done! Summer of 2018 I took a psychology elective class and fell in love with that class earning myself an A. I contacted my advisor and asked her was there any psychology majors at NOVA and she told me “I’m sorry there are not at psychology majors at NOVA” as my happiness turned sad I really wanted to switch my major and pursue my major in psychology. 43.8 million people suffer from mental health openly and secretly, I’ve always been a good ear and a great source of advice, taking that psychology class I wanted to be more than just a help but to lower the percentage of mental health whether that’s someone being abused, mother and father problems, being unloved, suicidal, trying to fit in or out, self-consciousness and I want to be able to get in their head to tell them it is ok and to just breathe and was my main goal. I wanted to be more active on the nearest NOVA campus, However, I didn’t find Woodbridge campus amusing it was quite silent, and borning every time I came upon the campus yet the other campus like Alexandria and Annadale had so many more student life activities, so I wanted to change that gloomy feeling of NOVA so I did some research on campus clubs and organizations and I came across a club called WISE “Women in Search of Excellence” with female mentors to help guide you with your academic dreams and goals; a sisterhood on campus. They had greeted me with a warm greeting and accepted me into their club. I meet so many amazing women, who had a journey similar and just like mines. I was advised by a mentor that they did have a psychology major on the campus and to talk to someone else regarding my major switch. Therefore I did and found out that they do have psychology as a major and took a big step and switched and I couldn’t be more proud of myself. To finally switch into a major that I am wholeheartedly passioned about warms my heart that I have a future of graduating NOVA with an Associates in Science degree in Psychology then off I go to George Mason University to graduate with a Bachelors degree in Psychology. I wouldn’t change my community college for any other college. My overall views on the campus are the food prices are highly expensive and I would honestly love to see more activities and more security protection at the campus. However, I am so thankful for Nothern Virginia Community College for having the patience, pushing me to my limits, rooting me on, the help I received and guiding me towards what means the most to me in my education and I couldn't thank them enough.

It’s a great place to start working on your future. It’s not perfect but still pretty good, and the locations of the campuses are great. The people are incredibly friendly, and the professors are almost always willing to help. Like, they really know how to teach.

Northern Virginia Community College is, in my opinion, the best college in the U.S. The combination of excellence and affordability make up the recipe for an outstanding place to study. I used to be skeptical about NVCC and in fact I went to a 4-year college before I attended community college. NVCC has a wide selection of programs of studies, and classes schedules are flexible enough that allow students to work and study at the same time. The professors have been excellent so far. While their teaching styles vary, their commitment to education is admirable. I have never met a professor who has not responded to my emails. The facilities are spacious, and the class sizes are small with no more than 40 students per class. There are activities led by students throughout the semester and many fun activities are planned as well as educational opportunities. I have attended four of NVCC’s campuses and have always felt safe in them. The bookstore is close to the classroom facilities and has been a lifesaver on several occasions. There is a wide selection of school supplies and textbooks while still having a café for students. NVCC is in a convenient location near major highways like 66 and 495. As someone who works the location is important as well as having the classes at walking distance. There are affordable parking options as well as the most recent parking change which allows anyone to park after 4PM. I could not think a of a better place to study.

What is your overall opinion of this school?

Northern Virginia Community College (NVCC) is a two-year institution designed to help students to transfer to four-year institutions after gaining an Associates degree. I found the college to be excellent in academics. The teachers were qualified and eager to help students and the subject materials was thorough and clear. However, student life at NVCC is a rare treat. Clubs are scarce and very small, and activities usually coincide with class schedules. So, although I am very happy to be in NVCC because of how it helps my education, I would have hoped to have better social opportunities as well.

What is your overall opinion of this school?

Northern Virginia Community College is a decently sized college. Though there are multiple campuses spread across northern Virginia, I only went to the Woodbridge Campus. The Woodbridge Campus was nice overall. Food is a bit pricey, the small cafe in the new building is reasonable when it comes to coffee and other specialties. Academically NVCC is very good. Most of the professors are accessible, as are the advisers who are always more than happy to help. I would recommend this community college for people straight out of high school as well as those looking to continue their education.
