What is your overall opinion of this school?

Jackie

I think this school is great and kind of has a peaceful atmosphere and I had no problem with the students on campus and the food there is okay.

Antonio

I like how much it is coming up. Over the past few years there has been serious efforts to make it the powerhouse community college system it is.

Allison

It is a really good to school for taking online courses, this is the first time I have been able to do online classes successfully. In terms of the cost, it is fair and I consider it somewhat affordable compared to private art school cost per credit. Everyone who works for the college is super helpful, I've been given nothing but good advice so far.

Hilary

This college is very convenient with having many campuses at various locations, for people to access. It is also very good with it's ELI courses and it's commitment to allowing people to take tests from home if needed. The professors there are very knowledgeable and good in their ways of teaching. They make it interesting which helps a person learn. There are also tutors on campus free of charge which is amazing. The bookstores are on site and always stocked with everything you could want or need for classes. They have cafes, and cafeterias for lunch times. The scenery is pleasant to look at with many places to sit and study on a nice spring day. Overall the only bad thing I would have to say about this college is the parking prices and the long walks to the different buildings from the parking lots, but hey what colleges doesn't have long walks? It's a great school!

Robbie

An affordable school with great professors.

Monica

Overall, I think NVCC is a good institution for students to earn credits with less of a financial burden, transition to a 4-year University, and to grow. Many people, even students, don't seem to view NVCC as a "real school", because it is not a 4-year University and anyone can apply to register for classes; but I believe NVCC has good quality professors and resources for learning, and strives to create a well established learning environment for everyone. I have completed my education at a 4-year University and am now at NVCC to continue my education for an alternate path, and as I have made comparisons, I realized that I had to work sometimes harder for the classes I was taking at NVCC than I did for some of the courses I took at ODU. NVCC at the Annandale campus appears to feel a lot like a University campus. It is big, spread out, and really gives me the mature feeling; rather than feeling like it's a high-school.

My overall opinion is a good one. The classes are flexible - on campus or online. The classes offered are current and relevant to what is going on in the business world. There are school activities for those who want to become involved outside of classroom settings.

Overall, I will say that everybody on the campus whether it is counselor, librarian, teachers, or students were very co-operative and helpful. From many personal experiences I would like to share one. Last year I were applying for Dental Hygiene program. Counselor who was helping me, came one hour before his schedule time, on my request to help me in filling out my application. I can never forget his favor. Due to him only I were able to apply for the program last year. Similar kind of incidents happened with me with the librarian.

My overall opinion of Northern Virginia Community College (NOVA) is opportunity. Given that this school is the second largest junior college in the national the reputation here is impeccable. Plus, the State of Virginia offers "Guaranteed Admission" to any Virginia community college student looking to transfer into a four year university as long as the student meets certain requirements. Requirements vary from school-to-school. We have 6 different campuses all within the Northern Virginia area, and also a variety of intramural sports.

Northern Virginia Community college is really big college, in fact it is the second biggest community college in the nation! It has many campuses in areas including Woodbridge, Manassas, Alexandria, Annandale, and Loudon county. The one thing I hear student complain the most about is the lack friendships developed at the college. It really lacks the community aspect, so if your looking to make friends you will probably have to initiate that. The greatest advangtage of going to this school is that it is rated very well making the process of getting accepted into a college or university more likely. Getting good grades also helps in getting accepted into the university of your choice. This can be relatively easy to attain with a little research on professor and some diligence.

The best thing about this school is that is had a little of everything. Its set in a city that has many influences from various cultures. If I could change something, I'd be that there were more activities to unify students as a group. For example, we don't have a school mascot and we need school spirit! My school is just right, they just finished construction on a new building and it looks great! When I tell people I go to NOVA they usually respond "Oh yeah? Me too!" I spend most of my time at the cafe NOVA. The schools administration does its best to help the students out (because there are lot of them!) Like I mentioned earlier, no school pride or very lacking. I'll always remember the mandatory gym class. Oh lordy.

The best thing about this school is the tuition that is a lot cheaper than other universities, and this school offers lots of different major courses.(It's the second largest community college in America). Several campuses are located around this Northern Virginia region, so you can go to any campus where it is closed to your home. Annandale campus is the largest and i go to that campus But if you compare it with other universities like George mason, the campus is relatively small. I usually spend most of my time on campus at library, but there are other good places like a game room, cafe, or benches around beautiful trees.

As a whole, NOVA is in my eyes, the best community college. Besides the fact that it is less expensive than four year colleges, the professors make it even better. They are very helpful and give you the best lessons into preparing you for the rest of your college career. NOVA offers many opportunities to find a job and also gain experience on deciding what your future is after you graduate. I also love the fact that NOVA has so many opportunities for community service and sports teams to help give the total package of a four year college.

Benjamin

The whole campus is just one big building with four floors. People think if you going to nova then you might be a dumb person but they dont know you get the same education going to an university. I spend most of my time at the computer lab.

Cathy

There should be a gym at the MEC campus. No complaints about the MEC faculty but other campus needs to have staff that is much more informed and on the same page

brian

so much cheaper than other universities. Small classrooms are great! Easy transfer to any university. Great teachers who care for the students!

Alexandra

NOVA is a good place to start out a college career, especially if, like me, you aren't completely sure what it is you want to do!

Jennifer

Northern Virginia Community College (Annadale Campus) in my opinion is a symbol of opportunity for different reasons. 1) It has a lot of different facilities for students, equipments such as laptops or PCs for students to use on Campus, and flexible office hours for students services. 2) There is a variety of scholarships to choose from, starting from major OR Campus and... 3)Even though, Annandale Campus doesn't have housing, there are a lot of events, students activities and clubs for students, so they can have a great college life experience on campus.

Northern Virginia Community college is the second large community college in the United States, and has good professors. When I told people that I go to Nova everybody said that I am going to the best community college. All the school administration is good, because they work hard to help students with anything. Specially the financial Aid office is so fast and helpful with out to much criteria. I had financial problem once to pay for my class but the financial aid workers helped me to get my financial aid to continue my class. Nova is a great school I learned a lot.

Sarah

Well, it's a community college and a commuter school. You kind of go to class and peace out. I'm not really the biggest fan of Northern Virginia, but NOVA is really what you make it. If you get your Associate's degree and a decent gpa, you can transfer anywhere in Virginia.
