The worst thing about my school is the food because the menu is all based on a vegetarian diet.
The worst thing about my school is that there is little school spirit.
Although it is a minor concern for many, I would have to say that one not so pleasant thing about Oakwood is its food. While I know that the chef's are trying to make the food tasty, it isn't exactly good. Oakwood University is a vegetarian campus-- which I absolutely support-- but sometimes the food is vegetarian, but not necessary healthy. I believe our food should be both nutritious and appetizing.
There is a deep need for innovation. When new ideas a re presented to faculty, they are not very well recieved and often critized. They have a very regimented and old-fashioned way of doing things. Therefore, any type of new idea is disqualified.
The worst thing about my school is the lack of career job offers
The thing that I consider the worst about my school is the lack of accommodations for students with disabilities. The school has a difficult time providing materials in alternate format for students with exceptionalities. Furthermore, a lot of the buildings do not have ramps and elevators for those who use wheelchairs and Braille numbers on the signs of classrooms and offices.
Seeing that Oakwood University is a Seventh-Day Adventist HBCU, we do not have cultural diversity. Almost everyone is the same race and religion. Although you always have someone to relate with, I don't typically experience a lot of different types of different people.
Curfew is the only thing about my school that I hate, but it also allows me to stay focus.
The worst thing about my school is the level temptation that surrounds Oakwood University. Oakwood University is a Christian school so it can sometimes be troublesome to "keep your eyes on the prize". To live a "Christ-like" life-style, maintain a heavy prayer life, and stabilize a structured social living that you can prosper from (friends for example) can be tough considering the world we live in now. That's the worst thing about my school but I'm grateful because it's making me a better person.
The worst thing about my school is that we get fined, especially our first year, for not wearing appropriate clothing according to university standards, wearing jewelry which is not permitted, and having to mandatorily attend three worships a week. I understand the premise for which these standards were put in place, but it is a burden to some students. I have come to accept these things and though they may not bother me consistently, sometimes I feel as though it's too much. Oakwood University should encourage and explain their standards to appeal to the students versus mandatory enforcement.
The worse thing about my school would be financial aid. Although every student receives financial aid, the help doesn't account for half of tuition. It's difficult paying off the semester and having to clear out items out of our dorm room really puts a lot of stress on us as students. I wish that my school offered better financial aid and kept track of the aid as well. I have received bills where the amount to be paid is incorrect because financial aid has made a mistake.
long wait for enrollment
I honestly can't say anything bad about Oakwood College. I love it!
The worst thing about my school is something that is extremely hard to think of. However I would have to say it is the fact the classes are so small and the teacher will notice when you are there or not.
I would consider the organization of the financial aid offices and clearing the students to live in the dorm is the worst thing about my school. In order to live off campus you are required to be 22 years old which most students that can only clear to get in school is younger than 22. The president of Oakwood University said to some extent, " Dorm housing is where all the money comes from." It is very hard to financially clear at my school and a lot of students cannot clear by the 2nd or 3rd year.
The registration process because it is very tedious and the administration does not always keep up with their business as they should which greatly affects the students trying to clear for the school semester.
My school is far to expendsive, and the credits do not transfer to other colleges if a student is unable to afford the following semester. Oakwood university does not get a large amout of government money because it is a private school; students are left with thousands of dollars to pay out of their own pockets. I have to come up with five-thousand dollar by next semster or I have to drop out of collage.
The worse thing about my school was the sometimes bad usage of funds. Funds were allocated for things that werent necessarily necessities or even helping to the students.
the worst thing about my school is that it is such a sheltered environment. there is an 11:30 curfew set for all of the dormitories and there are only 2 gates that go on and off campus which makes it hard if you are in a rush. you have to show ID in order to get through the gates, so if u lose your ID it makes it that much harder to get on campus.
The school doesn't look like most Universities it has a more down to earth type of theme to it. At first you may not like it but after awhile you will appreciate it.
The worst thing that i would have to say about the school is the efficencey when it comes to them keeping your offical documents. My best advice is to keep an extra copy at hand just in case somthing happens and also check your school records online.
The poor customer service and the slowness within administration to fix what must be fixed on campus.
Being unable to get office questions answered in a timely fashion.
The worst thing at my school to me is the amount of students that are actually able to finacially clear for the Spring semester. You have a lot of student who are great student who enjoy their experience and educaion a oakwood University, yet due to Finacial Reasons etc. they are not allowed to return.
The school is disorganized as a whole. And they continuously seek to rip people off of their of their money.
The way they give you the run around about things. specially Finiancial Aid
Some students at my school do not appreciate the rich learning environment that my school offers.
The worst thing about Oakwood is the students. Don't get me wrong, the students are also the best thing about the school. However, I beleive that students who do not know what it means to be a part of such a great organization as Oakwood University, are the greatest diservice to the institution.
The school is too small, so rumors get spread too easily, and many of the building need to be renovated, but it doesn't seem like renovation is on the agenda, only building new UNNECESSARY buildings.
What I consider worst about my school would probably be the cafeteria because our Cafe serves only vegetarian food but it is not always cooked in a way that we like it.
