It seems okay so far, but I do not have enough experience during C-OVID19 to tell what in-person life on campus is like. The professors that I have right now seem to do a good job helping their students learn and make them comfortable to seek help. The website is a bit outdated so it is hard to find up-to-date information, but I can find my way around by asking counselors and staff.
I have been enjoying going to Ohlone and look feel well supported. There is a reason that ohlone is ranked in the top ten community colleges in the state. The classes are appropriately challenging, the professors are awesome, there are plenty of clubs and the facilities are off the hook. I love going to ohlone.
I think the most important part to me is the class sizes and the professor's availability. The classes are small and Michael Navarra and the entire theater faculty were always available and willing to talk with me about ideas, learning the craft, or to help me with something even if I was never in one of their classes. The entire department's focus is how to prepare students to be working theater professionals artistically both as actors and theater technicians.
It’s pretry cool. I take the duel program through the MVROP but my teacher is the best ever. I have learned a lot and gained passion because of that class. Especially the teacher is available for almost every time and he is very open minded therefore a lot of students enjoy his class. I feel that this duel program is very good considering how we high schoolers can get a head start on not only experiencing professional environment earlier we can transfer our credits which helps us graduate a little faster.

As a senior there are a few major things on your mind; prom, graduation, and most importantly college. Leaving high school and going on to bigger things in college can be scary but you have to be willing to take chances and put yourself out there. Remember that a lot of people are in your same shoes, trying to make friends and working towards a career. Some will become good friends and others are better to keep as acquaintances; do not loose yourself, there are pressures but you will always make the final decision, think with your head but remember your heart. Life is a rollercoaster that we must be willing to ride, tests are around ever bend and success is at the end, we just need to hold on. I am coming back to tell you, well me, that we can not let fear take over, and even though family stressors will hit hard the first semester we can not give up, dreaming high is a risk and as long as the work is done we will end up where we want to be.
I wish I would have known what great advising resources were available to me at Ohlone before I went down the path of "independent counseling." If I had established a clear academic plan from the get-go, I would definitely be farther along in my educational career. I don't, however, regret my time at Ohlone by any means.
Ohlone College is a crockpot of ethnicities and backgrounds, where all the students who are trying to save money or just figure out where they want their life to go meet and help one another grow as a person.
Ohlone is a very diverse school. It offers lots of opportunities to help people transfer successfully within the two year time frame. They also have really good faculty that cares about their students. I've never had an issue with a teacher or faculty member, they're always helpful.
Being a community college, I find that it isn't very easy to become active on campus as I would like to be as i am a working adult.
I'm attending the new Health Science campus of Ohlone which is located in Newark, Ca. It is an Earth friendly campus with complete Wi-Fi access throughout the campus which makes it easy to use your laptop anywhere in the building , not only the library. I love that the campus is completely enclosed and enviornmently friendly. It also has all of the latest technology available due to it being a fairly new building. It's the first campus of it's kind and looks great. There is also plenty of parking and a friendly and knowledgable staff.
I have friends at various schools across the country and we all love to be able to point out the highlights of our choosen school. When Ohlone is brought up the fact that the schools sits up in the Fremont hills really sets a wonderful atmosphere, you can see the bay and overlook the city. Having such a great view and bright campus helps to make it more enjoyable to be there for classes.
They are very interesting people to go to school with.
Ohlone College is best known for the hill it's built on and the stairs that make for an arduous trek to class. Academically speaking, it's best known for the highest rate of UC transfers and its programs in biology, engineering and math.
I'm not sure about the student activities/groups at my school.
I am content with Ohlone College. I think many of their teachers are more than willing to help, but there are some teachers that ruin the experience for me. Ohlone also has odd schedules and times for some classes. Overall, I think Ohlone College is an alright community college.
The stereotype of student at Ohlone is an adult that has been there for far too long. The stereotype is accurate because most Ohlone students are over 25 years old.
The type of person that should attend school would be one who is focused and understands what it is to be a student.
If you aren't proactive and independent, you should steer clear of a community college. You really need to push yourself and stick to your goals if you want to transfer out of Ohlone in an appropriate period of time.
Since it is a satellite location the most frustrating thing is that the bookstore and main financial aid office is located at the main campus on the other end of town. The new building mainly houses all of the health programs as well as some general ed. classes so you may end up having to take classes at both locations if what you want is not available i n one place. Luckily I got into the Physical Therapy program so all of my classes are at the new building but I have to go to the main campus for books.
