Oklahoma State University-Main Campus Top Questions

What's the most frustrating thing about your school?

Collin

The most frustrating thing about the school is not necessarily about the campus its self. It would have to be the price to attend. School is so expensive now days but it is definitely worth it to be part of such a good campus.

Katherine

The most frustrating thing about my school is the out-of-state tuition rate.

Rebecca

My university doesn't resolves issues quickly or with the best method. For example, we had a water safety issue for several months. There was also a person in the library sexually harassing students, but the warning given out said nothing about what the situation at the library was.

Nicholas

The most frustrating about Oklahoma State is its location. the closet major city to Stillwater is Oklahoma City, which 1.5 hours away. If you do not bring a car to college, then you will not be able to travel to the big city.

Christine

The most frustrating thing about my school is the fact that it cost so much to attend.

Lesley

The class sizes are huge, and that can be frustrating. Sometimes it's hard to have a relationship with professors because they can have hundreds of students at a time.

Abbey

The ONLY negative thing about my school was the cost. Other than how expensive it was, it was the perfect school.

Chelsea

The most frustrating thing about my school is the advisors. I just completed my freshman year, and I have already had two advisors. They both we aware of my uncertainty on a major, yet they still filled my schedule with major specific classes. Enrolling for my sophomore year, I changed my major one final time. At the end of my freshman year I had completed 28 hours, and only 9 of those hours count towards my major. Therefore, I have to take maximum hours every semester in order to graduate on time. Oklahoma State needs advisors that actually advise.

Hannah

There is not much to get frustrated about at Oklahoma State. What more could you ask for? There is Big 12 Football, a fountain in front of a beautiful library that is often dyed orange, one of (if not) the largest Student Union in the US, and many other great aspects. But, when there is a weekend with a home football game, all of Stillwater becomes practically immobile. If too many people are in Stillwater at one time, making a left hand turn becomes very difficult and close to impossible.

Ashley

I find the professors to be pretty frustrating for the most part. I have had a few that are great. But in general, when it comes to particular courses, you don't get much attention from the professors.

Jessica

The most frustrating thing would probably have to be the parking. If you work late then there's a chance you will have to park a ways from your dorm, and if you leave during the morning for something then you will most likely have to park in overflow, a good walk from your class.

allison

The most frustrating thing is parking, there is barely any parking places except at my dorm, at least there are free campus buses that run about every 15 minutes. otherwise, I'm walking which is definatly good excersice because campus is really big!

Rebecca

Dealing with extreme Oklahoma weather - walking to class in 100+ degree heat or class being cancelled due to ice storms.

Amanda

The small dorm rooms and my chemistry 1 class of 225.

Maggie

The most frustrating thing about my school is parking. I live on campus, and the parking is absolutely horrible; I have heard it is not much better for commuters. Supposedly this is the largest freshman class OSU has had in years, and it definitely shows in the dorm parking lots. There are days and nights I spend 10 to 20 minutes looking for a parking spot and I very often have to park in overflow lots, which are not located very close to where I live.

Ashley

A lot of activities are centered around fraternity/sorority affairs

Megan

I think the best thing about my school are all the friendly faces you encounter. You will always meet someone nice that you can hang out with and the people are always welcoming and warm to everyone. I fit right in with people when I came to school not knowing a soul.

Keith

The two main complaints are that one the school is heavily greek influenced,so those choosing to not be members of greek life have a harder time socially. Secondly if a freshman chooses to be undecided, the counselors get frustrated and arent as helpful as they would be to a decided student.

Kerstien

The size of classes is not the ratio I had expected in enrolling. Many of the basic classes are auditorium style with 200+ students and one poorly delivering professor.

Clint

As with most universities or colleges, properly managing your time can often become a huge problem. With all of the extracurricular activities and clubs, not to mention the distractions of your friends and roommates, finding the time to sit down on your own and focus on your academics peacefully can be a real headache. This situation is by far the thing that I have found the most frustrating in while college experience.

Kimberly

One of the most frustrating things about my school is that if you are just an average Joe going into college you do not recieve any special treatment. If you are not in the honors college and you did not clep or AP out of classes then you could get stuck with the forigen professors. It's frustrating for those of us who are average and trying to get through college and you cannot even understand your professor.

avery

Religious, racial, and sexual intolerance. Large over-packed classrooms, inadequite foreign teachers will poor linguistic skills and problems with answering questions and wording tests/quizzes. Overpriced, unhealthy food is all that is offered on campus, and campus housing is either very very expensive and extravagent, or cheap and very poor. textbooks prices are murder (this is anywhere), and the intellectual difference between a 1000 and 3000 level course is enormous.

Kristin

My school 's spring semesters do not start out very well. If you start there during the spring semester like I did, don't be surprised if your ID won't get you into your dorm for two weeks because your housing director keeps putting off the paperwork!

Emily

The most frustrating thing about the campus would be the distance. Any where you go is about a ten minute walk. Overall the campus is wonderful and I'm happy I chose it!

Emily

The most frustrating thing about Oklahoma State University is that faculty get paid to go to this school, while students pay to go to this school and the faculty are the ones that get closer parking spots!

Chasity

The most frustrating thing about Oklahoma State University is that professors tend to assign projects and tests in the same week. Some students will have weeks with just regular homework schedules, then the all in one week they will have three exams, papers, projects, and homework all due that week.

Misty

not being able to currently afford it

Patricia

It is a constant struggle for me to find healthy food choices on campus. Also, food on campus is extremely expensive. I have over one thousand dollars a semester for meal plan, and I have only two hundred sixty dollars left with two more months in this semester. Parking is a nightmare. I am forced to park in the overflow lot, which is poorly lit and is located about a quarter mile away from my dorm. In my opinion, not having adequate parking is a safety issue for students living in the dorms.

Gayle

It's hard to do everything I want. There are so many things going on, that I can't do it all and get my schoolwork done.

Andrew

The amount of on-campus dining is average as far as taste and variety goes, but the availability of the dining is very sub-par, with nearly all places being closed on weekends and holidays, which makes it very difficult for people who stay on campus to find food.

Lauren

The huge focus on sports.

briana

For me, it is usually my roommates. I suggest living with someone you know, or living alone. Do NOT go potluck.

Andrew

The most frustrating thing about this school is finances and finding the necessary money to attend. While tuition is low, it is still difficult to support yourself, work, study, and pay for school. Many friends of mine have had to take semesters off to work and save the necessary money to come back. Its a difficult situation.

Kyle

The most frustrating thing is that sometimes classes are too large; however, this only really applies to lower division classes and very popular upper division classes (such as Organic Chemistry). Sometimes the accuracy and consistency of the grading in the large classes, but it is mostly fair. Most of the upper division classes that are specific to individual majors are much smaller and are more engaging. If you can make it through some crowded classes at first, the class size is just fine.

Andrew

Small town. Nothing to do really on weekends than drink or go to the game. Not enough emphasis on academics

Elizabeth

I only wish there were more hours in the day! I love it here at OSU and I try to balance school work with activities as well as I can, but sometimes I want to be two or more places at once. There are so many options of activities and groups, there is a place for everyone.

Andy

The majority of the campus police take thier jobs to the extreme by hiding in bushes outside of student's homes and arresting students that illegally consume alcohol underage, giving jay walking tickets, etc... This seems a little excessive to me because I'm from a bigger city where they focus more on bigger problems.

Jodie

They dont a nice venue to bring in concerts that I belive fit the desire of the students on this campus.

Tate

Perhaps the most frustrating is how hard it is to be social outside of the greek system
