Oklahoma State University-Main Campus Top Questions

What is your overall opinion of this school?

I truly enjoy Oklahoma State University. I love that it is built in an environment for college students and how close together everything is. I enjoy that throughout the whole year there are activites to get students involved with the campus. I work at the gym on campus and love interacting with all the people and love the dedication most students have. It is exciting to be a part of America's healthiest campus. I like how involved the campus is with the students educationally and socially. I have grown up in Oklahoma and I would like to get out of the state, but for the time being I beleive it is a good school to be a part.

This school is really great and makes studying so fun and interesting

Matthew

It is a great school for my major, and i have not had trouble with anything.

Sophia

This school is amazing not only is everyone on campus friendly and willing to help, but so is the staff. Very pleased with my choice in choosing OKLAHOMA STATE!

Oklahoma State University is not too small or too big, it is just the right size at a happy medium. The best thing about this school is that everyone is friendly to each other and strive to excel at their very best.Oklahoma State University is rivals with Oklahoma University, so there is a lot of bad mouthing between the two from all over. The most complaints from the students has to be the prices of dorms, books, tuition, and fees are set extremely high.

Cassandra

OSU is pretty great overall. There is tons of school pride! Stillwater is very much a college town, so it's just oozing with college spirit. Parking kinda sucks, but you get that anywhere. And at times it can seem like all the money goes to the sports and their needs, but the programs and academics are top in the nation.

Jarrod

I love Oklahoma State University! This school is amazing. Even though it has some drawbacks such as high tuition and minimal scholarships, the positives here definitely outweigh the negatives. The teaching staff cares whether their students pass or fail and so help us out in any way they can.

Connor

Oklahoma State University is an excellent academic community that is growing and becoming more beautiful every day. There is a lot of school pride that can be seen across campus, but fees are high, Stillwater is a small town unwelcoming to cyclists and pedestrians, and OSU forces freshman to purchase at least a $1000 meal plan that has limited rollover ability.

Cortney

The best about Oklahoma State is the connection between everyone. Everyone is very supportive of each other and are very sweet. I love my school and I would never want to go anywhere else! The school has a big spirit for school pride, every one rolls out for every event and are very active. The town is nice and I believe is perfect for a college town.

Tamara

Stillwater is a college town, and literally the only thing in Stillwater is OSU. Stillwater has a population of about 50,000 people but the town has a small, southern town feel. When first visiting the campus, it seems large and overwhelming but after a few days you'll know your way around effortlessly. People are nice--they hold doors open for others. There is also A LOT of school pride. Every Friday is "Orange Friday" where students and faculty where Orange in honor and patriotism to the school. We have pride and spirit whether we win or lose games and we stay loyal and true. When Bedlam comes around, the annual rivalry of the University of Oklahoma and Oklahoma State University, the entire campus and the town of Stillwater go crazy with spirit. We're proud, down to earth people who love to bleed orange.

Justin

If you want to think about a traditional college campus, with a quad, lots of outdoor space, a large library, numerous dining halls, and all of that good stuff, then OSU has exactly what you're looking for. It has everything you could want out of a university. The students are extremely proud of the school, which is apparent throughout campus. It's a great and comfortable environment for students who want the typical "college experience."

Jennifer

I really enjoy OSU. There are a ton of nice people, students and faculty alike. Most everyone is friendly and easy to get to know. There are a ton of great dining options on campus and in Stillwater in general. The size of the school is great. Everything is in walking distance of eachother unlike some other campuses. I would highly recommend OSU and wouldn't change a thing about it.

There are two major stereotypes that usually come with Oklahoma State University. 1) We are all aggies or cowboys that are going to farm for the rest of our life. 2) Oklahoma State is a party school. For the first stereotype I will say in confidence it is NOT true. While OSU's College of Ag is very big and influential on campus, Oklahoma State has much more to offer than just a farmhand education. I am majoring in Agribusiness with hopes of someday becoming a lawyer. I would be lying if I said there was nobody attending OSU who wants to become a farmer, but those students are professional people who are more times than not getting a business degree. For the second stereotype, I will say that while not every college student here parties, many do take that route. There is the local concert place called the Tumbleweed. Students from OSU usually go there once a week, on Thursday nights.

I would rate our school as 4/5. First of all, the environment is great. Stillwater is in the middle of nowhere but once you enter the city, it's a whole new other world. People tend to like this place after they stay here for at least a month. The people are friendly. The staff at OSU are helpful. Most of the teachers are generally good. The rec center known as the Colvin Center is state of the art with many facilities. Sports is a big thing so you can expect most of the games to be packed. Football is what the hype is all about over here although we've been doing tremendously well in wrestling, women's soccer and cross-country.

Elizabeth

The best thing about my campus is the friendly atmosphere. If I could change something it would be the ineffectiveness of student complaints about poor professors. My campus is just the right size. People react positively to my going here because we have an excellent reputation. When I am on campus, I am at one of the resident halls, the library, in class, or at one of the dining options. Stillwater is an excellent "college town." It is far enough from the Oklahoma City and Tulsa that it has not become part of them. The administration on campus is excellent. Oklahoma State has a lot of school pride. The biggest complaint about OSU is the chemistry department: there are very few good chemistry professors.

The best thing about this school is the diversity and you never know who your going to meet and what their backgrounds are. The Oklahoma State University is a nice size, it's not to big and it's not to small. You can walk from one side of campus to the other in about 12 minutes, I don't think that's bad at all. Every time Oklahoma State University is brought up it's always in a positive manner. I have never heard anyone say any negative remarks about Oklahoma State University. I think this is an aspect that Oklahoma State needs to be proud of. The school pride is not just throughout the students, but it has overflowed in the town of Stillwater. I have never seen a town support their university as much as the people here do. Every Friday during the football season, you will see over half the students wearing the bring color orange in support of the football players and the up coming game. The unique thing about the town of Stillwater is that even if you are not the legal age of 21 there is still activities and places that you can go enjoy yourself and have a good time. An example is that Tumbleweed, this place has concert on a every other week basis and there is a dance floor where you are free to show off the moves you do or don't have.

Overall opinion of OSU is that it is absolutely wonderful. OSU is like a giant family. Everyone supports everyone. The sense of community I feel each and every day walking around on campus is something I will never be able to fully understand. OSU students stick together in good times and bad. OSU is about more than just classes, it's about growing as an individual and at OSU there is always someone there to help guide you on your journey.

Erica

I LOVE OSU. Over the last year I've really fallen in love with this campus and the people. There's such a neat diversity here, and Stillwater is a complete college town. The town is focused around OSU.
