Onondaga Community College is a great community college. It is very ethnically diverse. There are plenty of clubs and things to do to get involved with the community. It is very affordable and the school will work with you if you need financial assistance. However, like with most schools, it has it's problem areas. There is good food at the cafe but there's also not so good food. The housing at OCC is mediocre at best. In my opinion, it's a waste of money to dorm at OCC. It's far too expensive and they limit the guests you can have. This year, due to Covid-19, we weren't allowed any guests at all. The educational values here are really good and most of the professors really enjoy the subjects they teach.
I think that OCC is an overall great community college. It is good for people who dont know what they want to do so they can get their general studies. It is also cheap, and attending i wont be in much debt. I am a commuter, but i am still able to join clubs and sports which makes me overall happy.
Onondaga Community College is okay if you are looking for an affordable education. Commuter students generally keep to themselves and many don't stay on campus to study when classes are over. The professors in the math and science programs are excellent (many have their doctorates and have been teaching for quite a while). The humanities professors can be hit or miss though, some don't seem to put a lot of effort into their curriculum and just take everything from the textbook.
At OCC, staff and students usually work together to create a positive learning environment for everybody. OCC has great academic programs that are affordable and easy to follow. Staff is almost always ready to answer your questions and make you the best student possible. You have to put in the effort, but they give you the push that is sometimes needed. Overall, a great school to attend.
The fall 2020 acceptance rate for Onondaga Community College is 100%. That means, out of _____ applications received in 2020 , _____ students were offered admission. The number of males who applied was _____ vs the number of females which was _____.
That as long as you try your hardest, you can get anywhere in life. College is hard, its not like High School where things get handed to you. You have to work, and work hard, to get what you want. As long as you keep focus and try your best, you will do fine.
The worst thing is commuting, because I live 45 minutes away. I figured because this school is within driving distance, I should waste money on living on campus.
A large variety of different ethnicities, race, age, and gender.
My school is best known for being a great value. It is a pretty good community college and it is extremely afforadable and constantly improving.
"Onondaga Community College will never stop growing and expanding."
Before coming to this school, I wish I had known that it is the people who are the most different from you that you will learn the most from. It's those people that have different experiences to share and offer that you can't get from any one else. These are the people who will give you real perspective on the world and become a friend that you would never otherwise have. And in order for this to be done, you must over come the fear of stepping out of your comfort zone.
It is a very small, close knit school. Everyone I have encountered has been nothing but pleasant and all of my teachers are helpful and caring about each student.
The professors they are all nice and help you out a lot .
I tell them that it is challenging, but I love my coursework and really like my professors
understaffed
Any person. They have so many different opportunities for every student.
Although a community college, OCC is still a challenging school and requires a lot of hard work. Students who are not focused and do not have goals should not attend this school.
The most frustrating thing is getting in touch with an advisor for a one on one appointment. Generally appointment are general with multiple people and even when you have an individual one, they do not try and sit down and learn your specific needs.
