I went to this school for volleyball and only stayed a semester due to mental health. However, I do not blame the school for any of it. They had an amazing amount of resources. Coaches and professors were huge on self care and understood me taking mental health days to go and see my therapist who was also provided by the school. I stayed at the apartments right off of campus and that was a mess if I'm being honest. However, that is not on OCC. My only issue with this school which is huge for me is how hard it was to make friends being an out of state student. Because this was a community college, no one lived on campus so everyone would go to class and leave. I was on a team which made it a bit easier and even that felt a bit weird at times
I am a high school student that did dual enrollment during COVID. I was able to start taking some classes in aviation and start to fly. The classes were available to me at the time because of COVID and the opportunity to take them online. I was able to complete 5 online classes towards aviation while attending high school. When class rooms started to open up again, most of the classes for aviation opened during normal school hours. Therefore my options were limited again. But overall the experience I had with OCC and the college classes online was amazing.
Orange Coast College is a great transition school for students planning to transfer to 4-year institutions or non-traditional students. It is a large campus with a variety of options such as the library, Starbucks, labs, horticulture and, a brand new planetarium. OCC offers honors courses and an Honors Program. Online classes are very interesting despite the difficulties. The professors make efforts to help students and understand the challenges due to this new situation. Online classes save our time but I prefer going to school.
It's an okay college if looking for general education. There are good counselors. The student overall seems pretty nice and friendly. Teachers are mostly good and attentive to their students. Be sure to check rate my professors before choosing classes!
The fall 2020 acceptance rate for Orange Coast College is 100%. That means, out of _____ applications received in 2020 , _____ students were offered admission. The number of males who applied was _____ vs the number of females which was _____.
Take the time now to set in place the habits you want to have during college (eating, exercise, study, etc.), because one college starts, life is stressful, and it's hard to do what you should be doing. If you practice now, you will be able to maintain those habits that will keep you healthy and make it easier for you to do well. If you don't, you will have a hard time succeeding in college.
A person who wants to transfer to the many wonderful California Universities.
Someone who is not focused and does not know what they want out of their college career.
The best thing about OCC is the constant urge you feel to transfer. My friends and I all know that OCC is the catalyst for our goals at a four year university. Without that constant pushing I wouldn't feel the need to progress my education. Thanks to the counselors and professors, it's easy to work your way up.
Orange Coast is a reputable two-year college with a great matriculation rate due to the rigorous programs and competent professors.
It has a much larger transfer rate, and was voted on of the best community college's in the nation.
I wish I had known that community college could be so lonely at times.
Most people are easy to get along with and talk to, if you are willing to go out of your way to talk to them first.
The school is best known for its soccer team, the many different fields of Arts; painting, film, phototagrophy, furniture design, fashion, interior design, flower design, and ceramics our welding is one of the best for community colleges companies like Miller, Lincoln Electric contact the school asking for welders all the time.
I do not feel frustrated with my school they truly set students up for success. The professors have high expectations and I feel prepared to transfer to the University of California.
One of the most negative aspects about Orange Coast College which I find the same for most schools is overpopulation. It is extremely difficult to get into the classes one needs for their degree or general education, further making it close to impossible to transfer or get an AA in two years as intended.
I mostly brag about how many woman there are in the school, and how racially diverse the college is. Even though I try not to brag, I also talk about how helpful faculty is, and how nice the students are.
It's a wonderful school and I enjoy the sunny and happy environment.
There aren't any stereotypes...well maybe the fact there's cute boys which is true but it's all in the preference.
