This college will be a great place for me to start college and to continue my education. Sources are always available when needed and I always feel welcome and confident that I can do what I came here to do. I think it’s also affordable to attend this college then transfer compared to immediately jumping into a 4 year college. This college will help me get a jumpstart on continuing what I’ve done in Orange-Ulster Boces. This college has a ton of fun events and clubs that I wish to attend with friends and my favorite people. I know I made the right choice attending this college first

Orange County Community College, also known as SUNY Orange is a small, and easy to navigate campus. This school is a great option for those who are wanting to save money on college. After my first semester I was invited to join the honors program as well as join the international honor society Phi Theta Kappa. This allowed me to gain thousands of dollars in scholarships that I can put towards the school I will be attending after SUNY Orange.

It's a pretty decent school. I don't like the fact that the financial aid faculty doesn't really help with providing assistance when you're not able to receive financial aid. You're own your own when you have to pay these school bills. Other then that, my teacher's are great. They truly seem to care about the students and their education.

  2. What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

    If I could go back in time and talk to myself as a high school senior there are a few things I would tell myself about the transition of going to college. One of the first things I would tell myself is to be prepared to read. In high school I didn't do a lot of the assigned readings and upon entering college I was ill prepared for the amount of reading I had to do for nearly every subject. The second thing I would tell myself is to break my procrastination habbits now. I have always been a procratinator when it came to school work and I have always tried to stop. It's a hard thing for me to break and I'm still paying for it now. As for everything else, I feel I prepared myself accodingly.

    In the classes I have taken so far, most of my classmates are at least 20 and obviously plus. What surprises me the most is how mature they are compared to my former classmates back in high school.

  4. What's unique about your campus?

    The same answer as to why Orange County Community College is unique. It its inexpenisve but at the same time it is worth your while. I've learned more indepth information than others in the same program as me at big name schools.

  5. What do you consider the worst thing about your school? Why?

    Offhand, the worst thing about my school is inadequate parking for students and faculty. During the beginning of the semester if someone gets to school after 9:30, parking will be hard to find. That's when people are stalking students walking to their cars from classes in hopes that they'll be leaving and a spot will then be open.

  6. What kind of person should attend this school?

    This school is for anyone. I especially recommend it to adults who need a wide range of availibility , and to high school graduates who aren't really sure what they want to go to school for. The professors here push you to do your best. We have some of the hardest programs around, however if you succeed you will excell in the career that you have choosen!

    I can't really say who shouldn't attend this school because basically anyone can. However, someone who prefers to just have fun 24/7 and not focus on doing at least some work for college shouldn't attend a school to begin with.

    The cost to academic value ratio is throug the roof. I paid a small fraction for the education I received and took the same if not better classes than others in my same major at more expenisve schools. OCCC is a "great buy" when talking about money. It is your best bet if you have financial difficulties but still want to attend a college.

    I feel I was very prepared upon entering school. There is not anything I can think of that I wish I had known before I started at this school.

  12. What's the most frustrating thing about your school?

    The most frustrating this about the school I attened is that our school has branches in other cities about 30-45 minutes away. Most of the professors not only work at the main campus but the other extensions as well. So if you are trying to meet with them it can be very hard scheduling an appointment because of your schedule or your professors. It would be nice if students could make an appointment with their professors without having to go through the hassel of professors rushing out of class or if they had more office hours.

All students must apply yearly for financial aid. This process starts with the FAFSA. Though financial aid deadlines vary by school, it is a good idea to apply as soon as possible. For the upcoming school year, you can apply as early as October 1 for the FAFSA. Additional school aid will be dependent on the FAFSA results.
