Oregon State University was, quite literally, a breath of fresh air the moment I stepped out of the car, that first time I visited campus in 2015. I knew it was home within minutes; not only are the people friendly and the buildings beautiful, but the wide variety in class choices and the multiple opportunities for internships and the like really make it unique. I was made to feel like a part of the student community without feeling pressured, and the classes I have taken so far are all taught by intelligent people with a passion for their subject. I greatly appreciate the quality of the residence hall that I occupy, and the food is definitely a thousand steps up from high school cafeteria food. Oregon State University is home.

What is your overall opinion of this school?

OSU is a good college. If you're an agriculture, engineering, accounting, or computer software engineer major, then there are few state colleges that hold up academically. As far as the rest? The programs are really not very prestigious, and most of the classes will feel like they exist to take your money. The professors are almost exclusively leftists (take that however you want), and the administration is far left (created a bias and diversity task force). Corvallis is nice, and the drinking scene is awesome.

What's the most frustrating thing about your school?

The SJW administration, the leftist professors, and the socialist students. All very pushy. All very weak spirited.

What kind of person should attend this school?

The kind of person who should attend OSU is someone who likes math, agriculture, and/or software engineering. In addition, being a leftist would really benefit you here. Finally, if you come here, join the Greek life! I didn't, and I really regret it still.

What do you consider the worst thing about your school? Why?

The worst thing at OSU is the administration's tendency to push a far left agenda. They don't try to hide it anymore, and the president, Ed Rey (Ray?) sends out many emails reenforcing their commitment to social justice. They created a bias and diversity task force too. In fact, after the election, they hosted a "cry-in," allowed professors to rant about results in class, and declared themselves a sanctuary university. Don't get me wrong, I'm no racist or alt-right psychopath, but I've never seen a place that pushes their agenda on people like this (and I'm from Portland).

Describe a day on campus you'll never forget.

I was in a cultural diversity class my freshman year, and BLM had spread a pamphlet about a "die-in" they were conducting on campus that day. My professor told us that, for a grade, we would either have to participate in this or record it (pictures, video, etc.). The march itself said the white people could not talk to media, shouldn't be on the outside of the march, and shouldn't hold signs. When the class marched out to one of the cultural centers, I simply went back to my dorm room. OSU is great, but they have a tendency to vigorously push a far left agenda.

I love OSU! It is a fabulous school with the most flowering plants on any North American campus. It's located 45 minutes from the ocean. The faculty are progressive and students inclusive. I wouldn't have changed my undergraduate choice for anything.

What is your overall opinion of this school?

If you like to party, cheer on the sports team, party some more, and like the anonymity of large classes than Oregon State is a great place. Unfortunately, I am a book worm who loves learning and would rather spend my time volunteering or participating in an activist group. There are opportunities for that on and off-campus but they're not nearly as well-known or as well-advertised as the Greek parties or the major sports games. Professors are very hit and miss. Sometimes you'll get a great professor who is actually teaching (and happy about it) as well as researching. Sometimes you'll get a bitter professor who hates you for taking him away from his research. Frequently you will get a grad student teacher, some great and some horrible. Occasionally you'll get a grad student teacher who just plays video of the professor who used to teach the class back in the 80's and the information is completely irrelevant, or very dated at best.

I've enjoyed my time at OSU. People are nice and diverse. Professors and TAs are helpful. Also, they offer on-campus jobs, which is very useful. The thing I like about OSU is that it gives students enough freedom but it's not like students get wasted everyday. We have a pretty good work-life balance.

What is your overall opinion of this school?

I love it here at Oregon State University, even though it is a large public university there is a strong sense of academia here. Oregon State faculty hold regular office hours, and besides a few bad, professors they are a joy to talk to and get to know in and out of the classroom. Plenty of opportunities exist for even freshmen to get experience with research which is something you won't find at many other schools.

A strong and diverse community dedicated to learning and life long acheivment and relationships. There are always activities to try and opportunities to grow: from canyoneering with adventure club to knitting at the crafts center. It may rain here most of the time but it does nothing to dampen our beaver spirits!

As far as colleges go, Oregon State University checks a lot of the boxes. Greek Life is booming, parties are optional (but fun if you choose to attend), academics are important and the professors are fantastic. The variety of classes allows you to fulfill your BACCORE classes in a fun and interesting way. Last term, I took two film classes - something I had never studied before, but thoroughly enjoyed. I think that these classes developed who I am as a person and allowed me to expand my view on the world. I loved my professors; there were available when I needed them and provided valuable feedback. It is a public university, so the classes can be large. However, stable office hours are kept, which makes them accessible. Additional help is available from places such as the Mol Hole (for science) and other tutoring labs. Corvallis is the number one college town in the Pac-12. I love living here and think that, if you asked any one of my friends, they would excitedly agree.

One time when I was walking out of my biology lab I cut myself on the door and I swear I was bleeding orange. I've always been a beaver; both my parents went here and both my older sisters just graduated. Oregon State has always been home, and I will do anything to be here. The people who come here want to be here. Corvallis, the town, only exists for the students. The blood of the city is from the pumping veins of students making memories and creating the future that they want and what they came for. It is exactly what you make you make it. If you want a learn a lot-- come here. Learn about yourself? Throw your self into the MU quad and read a good book while strangers around you toss the Frisbee. Want to learn about a subject? You and 3000 other people just like you are in building testing, trying to learn and do the same thing. Here you can find home, you just have to start looking. Oh yeah, Go Beavs.

My experience at OSU has been a very positive one. The choice of classes and the faculty have been great here. There are many extracurricular activities for everyone to get involved in. I have met a lot of new friends and overall I feel that OSU was a great choice for me!!
