The campus was extremely clean and seems like a lot of excitement in the air. We got to visit the biology department and talked to the chair for about 30 minutes. The food court looked really good as well as the other food options that OBU has. The freshmen dooms seems smart and plain but upper classmen's dooms looked great.

Ouachita is a beautiful campus. The professors are wonderful. The class sizes are small so you really get to know them and they care about their students. There are plenty of activities on campus. You just need to get plugged in. I believe Ouachita is an experience you will remember for the rest of your life. I would recommend you visiting the campus.

Ouachita has an amazing atmosphere! They are here to expand your love of God and your love of learning which is very important to me. It’s a liberal arts school and has so many opportunities to help get its students involved.

I absolutely love Ouachita Baptist University! There is a small class size so you are able to communicate with your professors during the lecture if you do not understand something. The Professors are very caring and just want you to understand the topic. This school goes above and beyond in keeping students safe, helping them get the education they are there for, and getting everyone included in the extracurricular activities.

  2. What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

First, make a list of things that you do and don't want from your college experience--for example, small classes or a large campus. Second, visit the campus before enrolling; take a tour of the facilities and meet faculty, staff, and students whenever possible. Ask them their favorite things about the university or things they might dislike. Next, pick a major that you know you will enjoy learning about, even if the curriculum appears difficult. As you pick your major, keep in mind the various job possibilities that would stem from your choice of major, and consider whether or not you wish to do those for a long time after graduation. If possible, get ahead in coursework by taking required subjects online or during the summer. Once you're there, make friends who will make you a better person. Be involved on your campus--have school spirit! Form good study habits and study often. Parents, always be realistic and honest with your child about your financial situation and your expectations from them as they make this transition. Be as helpful as possible, but also learn to recognize when to let them make their own way. Support their final decision.

First, our students are the friendliest on any campus I've ever been on. Students will ask how you're doing even if they've just met you on the sidewalk. It's easy to get to know just about anyone. Second, our athletic teams are fabulous. They practice hard for what they do and most met (or surpass) their required academic standards. School spirit is very high, even among students who aren't involved in any sports (varsity or intramural).
