I chose Ouachita Baptist University because of their music and theatre program and Christian worldview. I feel Ouachita Baptist offers a unique outlook to the musical theatre industry by presenting a Christian view on the performing arts and also on all of the other majors they offer.

I find the atmosphere here to be incredible. There is a lagre degree of interaction between the professors and the students, and this allows mentoring and learning outside the classroom to take place. This is an excellent opportunity. THe faculty are approachable and well-respected in their field. In addition to this, the students are friendly and affable. It is easy to make friends. People are genuinely caring and make you fell very welcome as an incoming freshman.

It has exceptional academics. It can be fairly difficult academically, but I write moreso of the teachers and other faculty here. They do an exceptional job teaching students the subject material, but also how to live life. While students of all faiths are accepted, it has Christianity intertwined throughout it and is a great place to learn a lot more about the Christian faith. There are a lot of really cool Christians here.

This school isn't for everyone. It is a school focused on helping students find their way in life. It teaches them not to conform to the ways of the world, but to be transformed through Christ. It helps students who want to do more with their career than just make money, but to serve others and help the world. Even if it's one little neighborhood or the largest tribe.

Ouachita Baptist University is considered a liberal arts university, focusing not only on the students' future careers and job securities, but also focusing on the breadth of understanding and knowledge that students will acquire while attending this college. The university emphasizes a well balanced college career: students are challenged to handle a full course-load of challenging material while maintaining a healthy social life.

It's small enough that I am more than a number, I am a person. Students are able to form relationships with their professors and the professors care deeply about the student's personal success and needs. There is such a love that goes around this campus....smiles, hugs, encouragement, etc. There are so many wonderful people at this school.

Ashley

Since Ouachita is so small, every student has a chance to find where they fit in--whether it's in a club, playing a sport, or volunteering around the community. It's easy to find other students who share the same interests, and it's easy to get involved. Students are friendly whether they know you or not. Everyone knows everyone. You are never a face without a name. Teachers are very interested in both your personal life and your academic life. They want you to do well in their classes.

Amelia

Ouachita really feels like a home away from home. The evironment is relaxed , but still focused on getting you the best and broadest education possible. Teachers truly encourage you to follow your dreams and they are willing to take the time to help you figure out how to do that.

Tanner

The fact that this is a Christian campus and so few people are focused on partying all day long really made the difference. It doesn't hurt that OBU is placed in a small town and has considerably smaller class sizes than most schools. That really allows you to get to know your professors in a way most students do not get to do.

Kimberly

OBU is unique because we don't have national fraternities and sororities; we have social clubs.
