Overall Our Lady of the Lake University is great. I love the small environment because it allows the faculty to interact with students more. When people hear I am attending the Lake they ask if I like it and I automatically say yes, without a doubt.
On my first day of school, everyone greeted me with a smile. I am now starting the second semester of my second year and since then those smiles have not faded. The faculty, staff and students are all so willing to help and are very friendly. Because it is a smaller school, you're not just another number--you're family. Here at OLLU, everyone wants to see you succeed and will do whatever it takes to help you through your college experience. In 2009, the Main Building of the university caught fire. Although it was a tragic event, the outcome was not a disadvantage. Instead of causing OLLU to fall apart, it reinforced the university's meaning of "family" and united every member of the university. Since the remodeling of the Main Building, OLLU has received new equipment such as Smart-boards, computer labs, Macs and a television studio. Main Building has turned into a great study place where I find myself at nearly all the time. At OLLU, everyone is more than willing to help either with personal time and tutoring or the resources they have provided.
