GERARD - 12/09/2022

Many people might found Palm Beach State College as a good place to start their journey and become who they would like to become in the future. However, I found it to be one of the best opportunities to become a successful student: improving my network, getting involve, and getting a major.

In my opinion, as someone who isn't a participant in student activities, PBSC is a simple college where many students arrive to learn, get a degree, and eventually move on. Nothing here is too well known, sports and the arts are just interests for particular groups and not for the college as a whole. Whereas many universities might feel like being in a loud, vibrant city, Palm Beach State feels like being in a small town: it's mostly calm, and everyone goes about their day.

Paige - 04/07/2021

I enjoy PBSC. As a student who decided to stay home for college it still provides me with a number of opportunities to meet new people and get involved on campus. The class sizes make it super easy to learn and develop a relationship with your professor and all of the staff is super helpful and easy to get into contact with.

  2. What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

If I could go back in time I would tell my high school senior self to make a plan and see it through. I entered college without a direction which has left me on a wayward path. Although every class I have completed and every program I have attempted has left me with invaluable knowledge and countless positive experiences, I regret that I have yet to use these skills in the workforce. I would tell my past self to prepare in advance and listen to my heart in order to persevere and meet my goals against all odds. You never know if you will like something unless you try it. I'am now 24 years old and on my way to a degree in Envirnomental Science. However, If I had known what I wanted to do sooner, I would already be working in my dream career. I have missed out on so much of life's opportunities by being indecisive and unsure of myself. If you want something, go for it.

  3. Describe the students at your school.

My classmates seem to be dedicated, this isnt like high school where you had to go. This is now college and it seems everyone has understanded that now they have to get serious. When we have team work in class you can see all the classmates are working together and working hard to get it completed correctly.

  4. What do you consider the worst thing about your school? Why?

The worst thing i consider about my school are the lack of parking spaces. The college already knows that around 1,000 more students are comming to the college so why not expand parking. The books are out the door high and tuition is just as bad; so why not expand parking. Parking creates a huge dilema for students. Being late for class is one and so one..

  6. Here's your chance: Say anything about your college!

Though far from home and extremely costly, I have considered Bethune Cookman University to be my only option when it came to pursuing my college degree in dentistry and nursing. However, the Palm Beach State College nursing program is known by many medical practices personally to be far more dexterous in the studies and practicals given to students throughout the required course. Also, their transfer program associated directly with Florida Atlantic University allows me to switch over my nursing courses on to my dentistry courses with ease while FAU is also noted for their succesful doctoral degrees.

  10. What kind of person should not attend this school?

The kind of person that should not attend this school, I would have to say would be a lazy, self detrimental, non reliable, non responsible person, that aspires to be nothing more than a wasted mass in society. Someone who hasn't any goals or abbitions to become anything greater than a carbon form wasting oxygen; you have to be motivated and wanting more for yourself and family in life. I recommend that the person has high priority to become something great, to become a productive member of society, instead of a burdon on themselves and others around them.

  12. What's the most frustrating thing about your school?

Palm Beach State College has the tendency to cover all course fees whether you qualify for financial aid or not up until the end of the course when they abruptly introduce the bill. I have learned that students need to visit the financial aid office every course to really know if they are being covered by financial aid because the computer will not inform the student on the specific issues financial aid is having unless it is pertaining to documents missing.
