If any of my friends are interrested in the school I tell them all the good and bad things about PVCC. There are tutors in the learning support center for nearly every class. The financial aid advisors, admissions help, and class advisors are all in the same location. There is a well planned out disability help office and overall advising in the same building as the other financial and class advisors. The layout and renovations added more color and grass so it looks better than before. The experience that I enjoy the most though is that teachers care.
I brag the most about the great campus life we have within the campus. I am involved in several programs and through them I have met tons of other students that have helped me gain success in college. I have also been able to become a student leader by experiencing service-learning through Emerging Leaders, S.L.I.C.E, Peer Mentor, and the Honor's Program. I absolutely love the people I have met and the faculty that I have been able to work with.
I love the fact that the minute I enter the classrooms at PVCC, the professors reassure me that attending a community college after high school isn't a dumb choice. I was an Honor student all through my high school career, and I constantly feared attending a community college would label me "not good enough" or "not attending a REAL college". I was completely wrong. During my 2 years at PVCC, I have had the honor of working with highly intelligent professors in an intimate setting in which I had a name, and not just an ID number.
The location is the best thing for me. It is only 10 minutes away from my house so I am able to save money and stay at home.
