I'm a sophomore at Park University and I'd recommend this university to everyone. Park is a great school and the staff alone are very supportive and welcoming. It is very diverse here at Park University with plenty of opportunities, whether academically or athletically. Although I am an extrovert, the small class sizes work to my advantage. Communication between my professors and I are amazing and the fact that they not only know me by name, but also know more about me is heart-warming. The school alone has a warm presence. It's more of a family-friendly feeling, rather than just paying money to get my education than leaving. I think Park University would be a great university for anyone due to their diverse courses, teaching/learning techniques, and staff and students. I'll eventually be a proud Park Alumni.

I am in my third year at Park. I am very glad that I chose this school. I have had access to opportunities that I would never have been able to imagine.

Food is disgusting, parking is horrible, student life is garbage at home games, as part of the Track and field program we have no respect, funding, or anything because the athletic program doesn't even take care of our necessities, the student life is pretty cliche-y, student weight room facilities are monitored heavily due to shady things of past presidents, Adjunct teachers online are horrible, athletic training is novice, and basically the increasing prices we pay are absolutely not worth it. As for good, it's close to Kansas City, the academic curriculum is amazing due to small classrooms, the library is a good spot to get tutoring and learn, the campus is pretty cool with underground classrooms, great business program, renovated rooms fo the dorms, and easy access to everything.

Park is a wonderful place to study.

  2. What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

Entering college is a major, life altering decision. When I entered college at 18, I thought it was utterly important to be as independent as possible. I moved out of my parents' house into an apartment. I purchased a brand new vehicle. I bought the fanciest technology to help me through college. I made a lot of rash, irresponsible decisions. As you can gather, I think I'd have a lot of things to say about the paths to take to my high school senior self. Here's the "Reader's Digest" version: Stay at home. Enter a community college. Save your money. Remember... college is a marathon, not a sprint. Education is one of the only things NO ONE can take away from you. Cherish it. To even have the opportunity to be college educated is a blessing. You don't know everything, let your professors humble you. Be a good friend and be an even better listener. Don't wait until the last minute to write a big paper because your professor can tell. Be honest... even when it's hard. Be true to your word. Be true to your work. And, above all, be true to yourself.

  3. What's unique about your campus?

The best thing about my school is the Dual Bachelor Program. At this time I am currently getting a BS in Healthcare Management and Human Resource Management. The general courses I finish in one degree transfer to the other. The only thing I have to worry about is finish my core requirements for the second degree. Come May 2011 I will have an Associates of Science and TWO Bachelors of Science degrees.

  11. Here's your chance: Say anything about your college!

Small classes (no more than 30 people to a class.) Friendly faculty and staff that always have the students in mind (especially the student life and housing staff.) Small campus size so you're not another number, but a person. Also, Park also tends to hire professors that have actually worked in the fields they're teaching. So, your professors didn't just get an advanced degree in your subject, but they've also worked in the area and know their stuff. My broadcasting professor actually worked several years on the radio, for example.

All of the professors are approachable. They are friendly and helpful beyond what they need to be. I feel as if some are them are friends. I know that I can come to any of them for advice or help. They are honest and have integrity. They are the reason that it is such a wonderful school.

  13. What's the most frustrating thing about your school?

I rarely experienced any frustrating situations whils attending Park University. There were times when I felt the professor wasn't responding to my questions quickly enough or that it was taking them too long to post my grades each week, but things happen in everyone's life - even the professor's. I learned to understand that not everyone carries the Type A personality like me. I am a workaholic and I like to get tasks accomplished as quickly as possible. It was more of myself that was more frustrating than the college's curriculum or it's personnel.
