My classmates are a diverse bunch of people of multiple ages and experience levels who brought a lot to the classroom and have at times enhanced my learning experience.
I would tell my high school self three things. The first is to be mindful of student debt. Things do not always work out the way that you plan, so minimizing your student debt by going to a two year institution first will save you money and earn you a degree that you can start working with. The second thing is the party always comes to an end. Often times we try to party away our troubles in an effort to ignore them for the time being. By ignoring our troubles instead of working through them we are only prolonging our problems. They will not go away as a result of a night of partying. The third and final thing love yourself and be patient. When you're young you want and expect things to happen quickly. You have the rest of your life to get it right. We are not missing out on anything when we choose to make decisions that are in our best interest such as eating healthy, exercising daily, or learning something new. Greatness takes time to manifest. If we take our time and consistently put our best foot forwad there is nothing we cannot do.
