As an RA, it is easy for me to notice that one of the most difficult transitions for the first-year students is their adaptation to community living. For many students, college is their first experience away from home, with a roommate, and without their parents to cook and clean for them. When those challenges coincide with the rigor of classes and the stress of finding their place in college, that's when students begin to struggle.
