This school is uniques because of its diversity, location and the great other students that go hear. Not to mention we are bowl eligible again and that has raised spirts since we have arrived. Their is always alot going on for all different hobbies, sports and anything else you can think of.

School spirit at Penn State is immense. Most students have a wardrobe of Penn State attire. The football culture at Penn State is, however, crippling at times. People live for football, and people who don't like football feel excluded. Criticism of former football coach Joe Paterno is de facto not allowed on campus; many students get angry if your opinion of Paterno isn't highly favorable. Students can be stubborn about other topics at well, stifling real intellectual conversations.

Rupa

Our school is full of diversity and students are of different ethnicity, it is like a small garden of different kind of flower. It is a small school and peace.

I found that Penn State offered 100{4a082faed443b016e84c6ea63012b481c58f64867aa2dc62fff66e22ad7dff6c} online undergraduate nursing classes. This was ideal in completing my bachelor's degree.

Andre

What is unique about my school compared to other schools is that it is so well respected. Every where I have been too in the U.S., when I have said that I go to Penn State University, people seem to get a sense of just how good of a education I am getting; and since other people take my school seriously when it comes to the level of education they offer, it helps me to remember I am in a good place.

Chanika

My school, even through everything it's endured, is and always will be a family. This feeling of unity and a family bond is what makes my school unique compared to all other schools. Attending such a large school may imply as feeling like a speck amongst a sea of people, but at Penn State, I feel like I'm apart of something big and that I have a special duty as a student to withhold the Penn State name. The student pride and spirit is one that is none like any other.

SARA

There is always something going on at Penn State. A lot of interesting and notable people come to Penn State to speak to the students. Just a few months ago we hosted President Obama. There are a lot of opportunities within the campus and most of them are free or at very low cost. Last month my class went on a field trip to the Brooklyn Museum. It only cost me $8 and the trip didn't count against my attendance in other classes. THON is something that set PSU apart from other colleges and it is a blast.

Rachel

Penn State has a fantastic network of alumni that is unlike any other school. They help students find jobs, and the dedication that Penn Staters have to their alma mater really helps current and graduated students. Penn State is also ranked very highly when it comes to job recruitment, so our career fairs are something that most students take advatage of.

Sarah

Penn State offers some of the highest ranking departmental programs in the country, and the Penn State name is widely known, which may lead to more job opportunities for students after graduation.

Elizabeth

My school is fairly large which may be overwhelming to most people but I like that for multiple reasons. It gives you the feel of being in a big city when in fact you are in a fairly small town. I like being around a lot of people and having larger class sizes. Since it is a large school there are many opportunities for school activities, class options, and majors. Other schools I looked at were much smaller and I do not think I would have enjoyed the experience as much as I do now.

Tristan

Penn State has a fantastic sense of pride and school spirit. At Penn State, I feel like I am part of something much bigger than myself. I am part of a thriving community that offers a one-of-a-kind experience that blends academics with a wonderful social experience. Penn State is home to many storied traditions, highly-acclaimed professors, and brilliant students who are given every chance to succeed. At Penn State, students do more than just learn; they become part of a family made up of hundreds of thousands of students and alumni.

Daniel

Every year thousands of Penn State students participate in a massive dance marathon called THON. It's the largest student-run philanthropy in the world and last year we raised over $7.8 million dollars for pediatric cancer research. It's amazing because almost an entire campus of 40,000 students come together to help children. As we like to say FTK! (For the Kids)

April

I attend Penn State online through their Main Campus. This has allowed me to attend the university without actually being there. I have 2 boys with severe hemophilia that I homeschool as well. My teachers are very understanding whenever I have a medical emergency. The school itself has several campuses with many different majors. It even has the Hershey Medical Center. It's ranked number 25 in the U.S. for Information Technology. Basically, Penn State offers just about any program imaginable, so you can pick almost any major. Penn State is nationally and regionally accredited, and many aren't.

Josh

The other schools I considered had a limited amount of majors when Penn State had a seemingly endless list. I was a little unsure with what I wanted to major in before deciding on a college so I chose Penn State so that I could major in almost anything I could think of.

Marketa

Despite the exceptionally large size of the student body at Penn State, the school is, first and foremost, a spirited and nurturing community. Within such a large community exists a vibrant amalgam of dynamic opinions and interests, which initially drew me to the school. This vast assortment of personality types allows every student to find a niche, a purpose, and a group sharing a common interest. Rather than dividing the school, these subgroups bring the community together to bask in the diversity of the Penn State family.

Rozelinda

Penn State has a beautiful campus with so many student organizations and activities to become involved in. The other schools I considered did not give me butterflies when touring their campuses. They seemed to lack the "college feel" and I was unable to become excited about attended these schools. As I toured Penn State's campus, I immediately was able to imagine myself as a college student and could see a future as a student. The other schools did not call to me in this way, which was ultimately why I chose to attend Penn State.

Dominic

I do my coursework online, so I am able to complete my work at the pace I choose. This type of course is exactly what I need to fit in with my full time job in retail, where the hours I work are not necessarily the same from week to week. It also makes the work easier on me because with my Attention Deficit Disorder I can take short breaks in my work and focus more when I am studying.

Melvin

Whats unique about my school is despite the large size it some how begins to get small as the days go on. What I mean by this is that once you get into the rythm of things and started meeting people things start to become a lot more personal, even with professors. People actually care about your success and try to the best they can to help you succeed. When compared with other schools I have visited students are treated as just another number.

Darlene

The school spirit here is something I have never seen before. The enthusiasm Penn State students have for our school is remarkable and cannot be beat.

Jeanette

Penn State is a lot bigger than the other university I applied to. I was accepted to Main Campus right away and was thrown into a campus with over 40,000 students and about 20,000 faculty! My high school only had 900 students total, so it was a big culture shock. And of course there is no other school that can say it has JoePa for an icon in football or that it has the best student section in the country! Penn State is also tucked away in a beautiful setting surrounded by beautiful mountains rather than a city.

Brandon

I felt at home there and the campus was welcoming.

Derrick

Penn State offers many unique majors that many other schools do not. The myriad of accelerated programs and honors courses here at Penn State amazes me. Also, Penn State sponsors and hosts the largest student-run philanthopy organization in the world. This event is called Dance Marathon (THON). Last year, Penn State raised over seven million dollars for the Four Diamonds Fund; it is a fund dedicated to curing childhood cancer and supporting childhood cancer victims. The department of Kinesiology is also leaps and bounds beyond others., one example of this being a brand new Biometrics lab.

Alison

Even though Penn State Main has a very large campus, your individual colleges make it seem a lot smaller. Therefore, it's like you're getting the benefits of a big school in some small school settings. There's also SO many ways to get involved, from intramural sports to school clubs to THON. There's something for everyone at Penn State.

Garrett

I believe what is unique about our school is its isolation from the outside world being in the center of Pennsylvania. Here behavior is much different on weekends and during the week than what I would expect in a city or smaller college environment.

Mariah

The possibilities from networking are endless, but you have to be somewhat social to take advantage of them.

Arielle

school pride and spirit alumni network

Krystal

The community. It's alive, fun, and I wouldn't change it for anything.

Celeste

School spirit is very high.

Maggie

The pride.

Brian

The school spirit here is unparelleled; either from an alumni standpoint or undergraduate standpoint. Also, the school is large enough to be its own city, but is still in a rural environment. Even though most students are from in-state, there is a growing number of international and out-of-state students so you get a little mix of people.

Aisling

We are the biggest philanthrophers in the world. Raised over 7 million dollars for cancer research in one weekend.

Sarah

The huge football games and dance marathon to raise money for kids with cancer.

Leigh

Again, the school spirit is unique to PSU, but also the fact that it balances being a fun/party school with being highly respected academically. It's a great combination.

Desire

Penn State is known for their sports, education, and quality in producing adults. Many schools do not have those attributes combined. When you leave Penn State and say that you are graduate, there is immediate recognition.

Janelle

I believe the university is unique when compared to others because of its large sense of school spirit. It's wonderful to be attending a university where everyone is very welcoming and excited to be there. Also, I believe this university is different because it offers such a wide variety of majors and activities. It is fairly easy for students to find their niche even though Penn State is such a large university.

Jessica

The school spirit was astounding and the scenery is to fall in love with--plus, the teachers are all very friendly and are very willing to help.

Anna

lots of school spirit

Gayle

It's a great school and everyone there loves it! There is so much school spirit! The alumni is so willing to help you find an internship while still attending school, or a job after you graduate. There is always something to do, so you will always have a social life. There is also everything you could ever need on campus for your academics. Penn State is a fantastic University!

Nichole

Large school with great sense of pride that makes it feel small and close-knit.

Kathleen

The largest student run philanthropy in the world is at Penn State. For almost thirty years our students have committed themselves and have worked tremendously hard to raise millions of dollars to help fight pediatric cancer. This event, known as THON, is a two day long, no sitting, no sleeping, dance marathon. Last year THON raised over $6.6 million dollars and we hope to top that amount this year!

Zac

It's really big but don't be intimidated. If you put yourself out there you're bound to find something that you like. It's a great place to go to school and everything there is focused on you the student and all your needs are catered to.
