Pennsylvania State University-Main Campus Top Questions

What do you brag about most when you tell your friends about your school?

Luke

Nothing. Bragging about Penn State has become socially unacceptable in the wake of the Sandusky scandal. Rather, I state where I went, that I received a quality education there, and try not to discuss my alma mater more than is necessary.

Rosalyn

I love to brag that I am enrolled in one of the most prestigious schools in the U.S.

Nicholas

I brag about the football team and our whiteouts. Another thing I brag about is the THON dance marathon that most of the students contribute too. The alumni network, education, and my personal GPA at the school are all things that I bring up when talking to friends. Additionally, because of how well known it is, I don't need to brag! They already know why Penn State is amazing.

shanelle

I brag about how convientient they are to adult learners.

Kathryn

I brag about how friendly people are on-campus and off, and I brag about our student-run philanthropy THON.

Jennifer

Attending college has always been a priority in my career goal. I will be a first generation four year college graduate. I have taken my course work serious from the beginning and utilized my education in helping others. I believe you have to exemplify what you believe, maintain what you learn then utilize your education to the fullest to prosper in your dreams and goals. Furthering my education is only the beginning for me. College and beyond will be a universe of new beginnings on my journey.

Evan

How involved I am in my University as a whole. My campus alone has over 1000 activites and 900 fratunies and sororites.

Ali

Penn State not only offers a wide variety of majors and opportunities to get invovled, but their extensive alumni network and career opportunities almost guarantee students jobs immediately after graduation.

Mary

If I were to brag about my school to my friends it would mostly be about how much school spirit there is and how diverse Penn State is in what it has to offer. The two events where the most school spirit is shown are at football games and at THON. Penn State offers many different groups and clubs ranging from IM sports to drama club to african dance club, there are so many different ways to get involved and to feel like you are part of the Penn State family and something bigger then yourself.

Caroline

The size and the academic diversity. I love how large the school is. I'm always meeting new people but still can't go on campus without seeing someone I know. I also love how Penn State is known for so many different majors and degrees.

Chanell

When talking about my school, I say that the campus is lovely. Although it may seem big, once you get acquainted, it is not too bad. I brag about how everybody on the campus seems so affectionate and generous, ranging from the students, to the housing coordinators. I describe how my school is like a little town and practically everything you need - is there. The one thing I can never forget to tell any of my friends, is that my school has the BEST parties. I always invite them for a weekend to get out and have some major fun!

The school spirit at Penn State is amazing, especially during Football Season. It is hard to compare any other school to Penn State with this much school spirit. Penn State has one of the best student sections in the entire country.

Thomas

School Spirit! Everybody at Penn State loves their school and the opportunities that are laid before them. Beaver Stadium is always packed at football games, as well as other sporting events. We want to give back to our school as much as we can in return because Penn State gives us so much. It is just that feeling you get when you first walk on the Penn State campus and you just do not want to leave.

Josh

I brag about how many people go to Penn State. All of my friends from high school that don't go here attend colleges with much less people and I always say to them that they aren't getting the full experience of college because there just isnt enough people there to have experiences with.

Marketa

When I tell my friends about life at Penn State, I never fail to mention the stunningly tranquil campus and its many inhabitants. Among the inhabitants are the vibrant crowds of students, brilliant and welcoming professors, and of course, the squirrels. To me, these little furry residents of Penn State University epitomize the aura of the school. Trustingly, they live among the students, and with almost peculiar friendliness they approach their fellow inhabitants. They exemplify everything I love about the school, contributing to the incredible waves of serenity and comfort that wash over me every time I walk through campus.

Catherine

Our football team of course is on everyone's number one bragging list! However, because of the campus size, your options for electives seemed to be endless. There was definitely something there for everyone. Penn State is able to offer activites that other schools are not equipped to handle. Options for living is also a bonus since the town was built for the unniversity. If you choose to move off campus there is always an available place to rent. The non-academic activites were also unlimited. It truly isn't just a 'party' school!

heather

When I tell my friends about Penn State, I brag about our football team. It rocks. I am also proud to tell them about the school of communication from which I am a graduate. We have top notch professors and broadcasting facilities. I recommend Penn State to anyone considering college.

Akeem

The school is just amazing. There are so many different things to do. From different majors to activities. For example, they have a club for almost everything. If you enjoy Halo, there is a club for it. If you collect something, there is a club for it. The different options the school offers makes is the best. Talkess of the football games, and the infamous ICECREAM.

Stephanie

Penn Staters have tremendous pride in their school. Along with an education, it gives us a sense of community. Even more, I would say Penn State is a family despite what many may perceive with the large student population. You learn independence, while working with a team. You learn more about yourself, while making new friends. You learn to be a team player. We are...!

Jonathan

There is always something to do. To some of my friends I point out the shear number of frat and apartment parties, but to most of my friends (who don't drink) I tell them there is always something to do, some activity going on. There is a "Late Night Penn State" which hosts numerous activities at the student center (laser tag, movies, board games, dancers etc...), hundreds of clubs, and plenty of activities from the special living options dormitories.

Gabrielle

I always tell them how helpful everyone at Penn State is. The admissions department and now my professors have answered every question and solved the few problems I have had almost instantly. All the staff here goes way out of their way to make themselves available to the students and prospective applicants.

Douglas

Penn State provides an all-around experience with with plenty of opportunities to advance one's education. This includes the wide variety of courses and majors, the insightful staff of the guidance office and the helpful professors.

Aleea

I think the greatest thing about ucf is how much the teachers care. They truly want you to do well and to succeed in the field, and are always willing to help in any way they can. I have had teachers lend books to me, help with extra studying for exams, and provide future career advice. They really want to know what you need to succeed and to do well professionally, and will go out of their way to help you do that.

Paige

I brag about the quality of Rugby on campus, and the acedemic help that is available to us even if we are a team sport and not varsity.

J.

How great the professors are and how nice, safe, and friendly the community is.

Lauren

Our school spirit and how much there is to do around campus and downtown. I tell them our two prides are football and THON!

Leah

I tell everyone how fantastically nice everyone is and how cohesive the student body is despite its size. On a personal note, I also like to brag at how advanced our science facilities are even for undergrads. We are allowed to use equipment valued in excess of $300000 and receive training in such high-tech machinery. It will really help me when I'm older and hopefully get a job in a professional science field.

Domonique

The amount of people at my school. For some it's too big for them. For other such as myself who live in a big city, the size is perfect. With a lot of people, there's rare chances that you can bump into people you know or have classes with. Which is sometimes true but in other cases some people bump into the people thay talk too or have classes a few times a day.

Stephanie

When I brag about my school, I tell my friends about all the different kinds of classes I can take and what Penn State has to offer in the different academic programs. Also, the advisors here and extremely helpful and have not steered me wrong, they have only pointed me in the right direction. Everything you could possibly want is at your fingertips at my school.

Amanda

It is SO efficient. The school really caters to students needs and they make it easy to get things done, both academically and not.

Tiffany

I brag most about the school spirit Penn State has. Especially during football season you cannot walk down the street without hearing "We are...Penn State." Its moments like these that make you feel like you're appart of something bigger. I also love how caring and charitable the student are. Every student is involved in one or more organizations that better the community and in the end celebrate our accomplishment with a dance marathon called THON. This just shows how the students here know how to get work done and have fun at the same time.

Mark

Above all else, Penn Stater's are fiercely loyal to our alma matter. We have one of the best football programs in the country, great accademics, and the largest alumni network in the world. Roughly 1:120 college graduates in the US are Penn State students. We also have great night life and epic parties.

Victoria

I absolutely love the campus here at school. It is well kept and very beautiful as well as the area surrounding it. Although I tend to complain about how much walking I have to do in order to get to class, I secretly enjoy it. It feels great to be near so much green compared to a city school. Plus, there are several parks within walking distance that offer an escape and relaxation. I also really enjoy that even though Penn State is considered the number party school, there are a ton of other fun things to do than party.

Kelly

Everything!! Everyone here bleeds blue and white! We have a great football (and volleyball and fencing!) team and an EPIC party scene. PSU has outstanding academic programs and degrees from here mean a lot. We work hard and we play harder. You can take the person out of Penn State, but you can never take the Penn State out of the person! We Are Penn State!!

Claire

I brag about how easy it is to meet new people because of the activities, clubs, and classes. Also, I love telling them about all the food options and the fitness classes that are offered.

Eric

The ability to go out and go for a run or a bike ride anytime and feel safe. Also, the weather and the terrain is pretty apt for outdoor activities, which I really like.

Lexi

Penn State is the number one party school so there is always something to do on the weekends, but it is big enough that if you don't want to be involved there are other things that you can do and places you can study.

Jordan

I always have discussions with my friends about how great everyone thinks Penn State is, but we really have a strong alumni base that are really supportive of us and we continue that with the large amount of school pride most pople have here. From our sports teams and social lives to the difficulty level of our classes, we are known to brag about almost everything.
