What's unique about your campus?

Julie

The best thing about Penn State is the endless opportunities they provide. Between academic, social, research and extracarricular opportunies, there are so many ways to be a part of some type of group or community. You will never feel limited. There are so many ways to get involved no matter what your interests are. There is truly a place for everyone and you are never alone. Furthermore, students are always encouraged to pursue and explore all their interests. This truly helps students build their identity and learn what it is that they're meant to do.

Kerry

I consider the large student population and related opportunities to be the best thing about Penn State, University Park campus. The college was large and offered many clubs, organizations, and experiences for students to take advantage of.

Samantha

School spirit is amazing. The teachers and advisors work with you to help you succeed. I am an out of state student, many of times they helped me cope with new changes and homesickness.

Michael

The best thing about my school is that it is easy to become involved on campus. Even though they're a lot of students attending the university, it's and easy to meet new people who share the same ideas and hobbies as you by joining sports, clubs, and organizations. It allows you to work your way to the top and help you with your future by building a resume from school involvemnt and creating a web of connections by the people you meet.

Nicholas

The sense of family from current students, past students, and even high school seniors who believe that they will be attending the school. Everyone is willing to help whether you are on campus or off it. There has been many times where I was off campus, and even in a different state, wearing Penn State apparel and another person would strike up a conversation about Penn State beginning with the words, "I graduated in..." or "I have a child that goes there!" There is no better student-alumni family.

Stephanie

Fall 2014 is my first time attending this school. The reason I choose Penn State - World Campus, was the flexiblilty being a spouse of someone in the military and being able to take my classes with me, if needed.

kimberly

The best thing about Penn State is that there is always a place for someone. It has every niche activity or club imaginable and it is very easy to fit in anywhere without compromising values.

Brad

I love being on my own away from home. I feel like I've become a completely different person than I was in high school.

Victoria

We are like one, big family.

Sara

I really like the size of the campus and it's location. It is in the center of downtown State College, surrounded by unlimited shops and restaurants. There are so many things to do around the Penn State Campus.

Lindsay

The school spirit and the alumni. They truely love this school and are always willing to give back.

Jason

Penn State is and will always be a family atmosphere. Students have an immense feeling of pride and brotherhood when you attend and become alumni to Penn State. There is a certain charm about the town, and the recent events there have brought the students and alumni together to try and defend the school's honor. Penn State is a quality education with great friends that last a life time.

Nicole

I think the school spirit is the best thing, both at football games and THON. There is a lot to be proud of, fun songs and chants to sing, and plenty of things to get involved with.

Heather

The best thing about my school is its community feel. Although the campus is huge and many students go here it is easy to find a group of friends that you will see all over campus and who are willing to help you when you need it.

chelsie

The most unique thing about my school is the pride. The student body at our school has so much pride that its contagious. What I mean by that is when I'm outside of my school in another city in Pennsylvania, I see people and children who do not attend our school and did not attend our school wearing Penn State sweaters, hats, shirts, pants etc. and they are so proud to be wearing it. Besides that the students have so much pride that on bus rides to class or to anywhere they will just break out in song, our school songs to be exact. When talking to other students about our school, I noticed they are so prideful and happy that they light up with excitement during our discussions. As soon as you enter the campus no matter whats going on you can always feel the pride and the cheerfulness the people have from just being there. Its so hard to explain because its such a great feeling and you never want to leave and I think its the reason why so many of our alum are still super involved in our school. Speaking from personal experience the pride that the student body exerts is unique to any school pride Ive seen before and its one of the reasons why I chose this school.

Irena

So many resources & opportunities for undergrads like research and travel

Megan

There are so many classes available that it's easy to find fun general education classes.

Mary

I consider the best thing about Penn State is THON. THON is a 46 hour dance marathon where we raise money for the Hershey Medical Center to pay for children to get treatment for cancer. It helps pay for houseing and medical bills for the family while the child is treated. Last year we raised over 9 million dollars. THON weekend is the ultimate feeling of school spirit, THON weekend has probably been one of the most amazing things I have ever had the chance to be a part of and it is my favorite part about Penn State.

Christa

The best thing I like about my school is the education and services. If I need any help with picking classes, school work or to get any information, I can receive anything.

Kara

The best thing about Penn State would have to be the students and alumni. Everyone is overly kind and we treat each other like a family. At sports events everyone is always filled with school spirit and we enjoy cheering on our classmates. The alumni also provides resources and opprotunities for the current students. They provide buses from out of state students, internships and externships.

Ashley

I feel that it's size is the best thing becuase of the oppurtunities bursting from left and right. There is such diversity and so much to do. Although it's a large campus, everything is within walking distance.

Daniel

The school spirit and positive atmosphere on campus makes Penn State a school condusive for learning and growing. The history here is so old and strong that it gives students a sense of pride for attending this school. WE ARE PENN STATE!!!

Timothy

The Pennsylvania State University has a network of resources internally and externally. There are not many schools recognized globally as producing quality level graduates with quality level skills. This is achieved by the network the Univeristy offers for students to succeed academically and in the job world. The school pride is relevant on every corner of state college as on every back of a graduate. Students are proud to be Penn State Graduates. Not for the school's sports or student life reputation, but for changing the world (e.g. THON).

Jesus

Here at The Pennsylvania State University best known as Penn State University we have a alot of different people from all over the world and thats something i like about penn state because that way i can learn different cultures

Katie

In my opinion, the best thing about Penn State is the vast amount of academic and extracurricular choices. There are over 120 majors and over 250 minors to choose from, in all different areas of study. Also, research is a great way to blend academics with extracurricular, and there are many opportunities to get involved. There are over 700 clubs and organizations at Penn State, so whatever your interests, you'll find something that suits you personally. There's also the best opportunitiy tofundraise for kids with cancer! Penn State runs THON, the largest student-run philanthropy in the country!

Tim

I loved the atmosphere of campus, it is beautiful. I enjoyed learning from most of my professors as well.

heather

Coming from a small mid western town, Penn State gave me the opportunity to grow intellectually, culturally and spiritually. I found a sorority that supported me when I didn't get to see my family as often as I would have like. I learned to become an independent adult and and independent thinker and I believe a more aware individual. I would not trade that experience for anything.

Izzah

Penn state is a highly reputable school, and provides the ultimate college experience any student is looking for. The Penn State Communtiy is very close knit, and it's safe for me to say that it is my second home.

Megan

Penn State is a great school! It has a strong acedemic and research reputation. I feel that I have learned a lot in most of my classes. The majority of the professors are great teachers, easy to understand/follow, and knowlegeable. I also really love the school spirit and sense of community here.

Kristen

There are tons of opportunities in regards to educational options, extracurricular options, and entertainment.

Kirie

Penn State gives a student the freedom to grow into who they choose to be. There are so many options for majors, so many diverse campus organizations to choose from, and hundreds of activities to become involved in. No matter what you forsee yourself doing in the future, Penn State has a program that will help you along the way. It's a place of diverse peoples, diverse interests and diverse cultures, but everyone bands together under the Blue and White!

Sandra

The best thing about Penn State is its diversity and the people at University Park. Everybody is really helpful and friendly. Everyone I have come in contact with try to be as helpful as possible when it comes to any problems. For example, the advising staff are separated by each major to help individualize the advise given and scheduling issues. And if someone doesn't know an answer they try to direct the question to someone who does know the answer.

Jonathan

I think the size is great. Many people will think that a school of 40,000+ people would beoverwhelming, but there are plenty of ways to make a large school small. Classes for example, you will only have huge lecture classes for early gen ed classes - most of my classes now are around 25 - 30 people. There are also 700+ clubs, dozens of frats, and numerous special living options (eningeering, mineral sciences, etc...) that you can get to know a group of people that are similiar to you - everyone fits it. But, you can't make a small school big.

Brennyn

The best thing about Penn State University is the diversity. My roommate is Taiwanese, my Resident Assisant in my dorm is from Ghana and my best friend here is from Philadelpia, you can't get more diverse than that. If I had gone to another smaller college in Pennsylvania the diversity of the students provide with their nationalities, families, religions would have never had the chance to affect me. I am not more open to other people who may seem foreign to me because now I realized that I seem foreign to them.

Rachel

I consider Penn State's best feature to be how challenging it is. Penn State , as a whole, expects students to live up to the standards of the University. This is a very important atmosphere to be in while in college because it will push you to do the best you possibly can. If you have the drive and focus to do well in an atmosphere such as Penn State's, you will excel in any work environment.

Nick

There are tons of incredible things about my school, but the best thing about Penn State is that there is something here for everyone. Penn State has over a hundred possible majors for students to choose from. They also make it really easy to transfer majors so there is no pressure for freshman to decide right away. I truly love the fact that there is always something fun to do, whether it is joining clubs or enjoying any kind of hobby. Even though Penn State requires a lot of hard work, they make fun easy to have as well.

Jennifer

The best thing about my school is the amount of activities a student can get involved in. There are so many organizations, clubs, and philanthropies that a student can fit in anywhere. Most important of these activities is THON. THON is a dance marathon that students of Penn State organize in order to raise money for the four diamonds foundation, which helps ease the financial burden of those children suffering from cancer. THON makes me proud to say I am a Penn State student, which is the absolute best thing a student could ask for.

Gabrielle

The professors are the best things about Penn State. In most, if not all, of my classes, the instructors are always telling us to use their office hours if we don't understand and to ask questions. I feel as if they actually care about us and it matters to them that we pass their class.

Keaira

One of the most amazing things about the Pennsylvania State University is that there is always something to do. The campus is always full of life and there is always an activity to participate in. There are a variety of clubs to join, sports to play, or places to go. Even with my hectic school schedule, I am still able to do the things that I love after I am finished with my school work.

Megan

One of the best things about my school is that there are so many things to get involved in. No matter what you are interested in, there is a club or organization for you! It has allowed my to be reunited with old friends from high school and meet new friends as well.

Amber

It is a large school, so there is a tremendous amount of resources. Whenever you feel you need help, there are so many available people and places to go. Professors want you to succeed, and if you make the extra effort, you undoubtedly will. Also, with a large school comes endless opportunities. Penn State has great programs to prepare you for the future like internships, externships, co-ops, and study abroad. Essentially, the social and academic life here is amazing. You will have unforgettable experiences with the football games and many many new people you'll meet.

Domonique

The best thingabout my school is that there are a lot of clubs to join which the people are very friendly and welcoming. By joining clubs and/or sport activities, people can easily find friends. If someone wants to start a club, they can! All they have to do is ask someone about the process and where to go. The find some people interested in being apart of their club.

Danielle

I think the best thing about my school is that there is alot of diversity when it comes to majors. You can have a class that has about 10 or so different majors in it and I think that is important because it gives you a chance to learn from others that may have different veiws than you do. Also since there are many different majors it seems like this school has a little something for everyone.

Matt

Everyone here has so much school spirit and it is really easy to make friends with everyone because it is such an open place.

Sarah

The best thing about PSU is the opportunities one has to experience new things. For example, last semester, just for fun, I attended a tailgate party, a drag show, I donated blood, and I was able to attend some of the free shows concerts given on campus.

Lexi

I like how big it is because there is always someting to do or somewhere to study and there are a lot of hidden quiet places to relax between classes.

Isaiah

I think the best thing about Penn State is that this university offers a multitude of opprotunities. This school is the perfect school for preparing you in the area you are studying. PSU has all of the tools and teachers to create the perfect learning enviornment.

Ramya

The size and school spirit are probably the best things about Penn State. The enormous size means you can find people with almost any interest and background, and that makes it easy to make friends if you try. (However, if you don't make an effort, it can be easy to get lost in the masses and feel like you're just a number.) The school spirit/pride is infectious and shows in everything we do, from sporting events to philanthropy.

Zack

academics, school spirit

Marjorie

It was a very diverse campus, embracing differences and focusing on the positive in each individual. It offered opportunities to explore and grow and expand our experiences.
