Penn State Schuylkill is a great college, but it's a smaller college and is less expensive than Penn State Main. There are police officers on campus at all times. Also, having a smaller campus like Penn State Schuylkill gives students the opportunity to connect with their professors one on one and makes it easier to make friends. Another good thing about the college is the nursing program allows us to get our bachelor's degree while other colleges have to take a test online in order to get our BSN. There are many different events during the common hour that students can go to and events later in the day for students to connect such as painting, bingo, or having a cupcake decorating battle. We also have many clubs and sports that students can join and make more friends and have a good time. When staying on campus the dorms are apartment-style so there is a kitchen, a common area, and bathrooms. Since students have a kitchen to cook in, Penn State Schuylkill has a path that leads to redners for students to get groceries. In my opinion, Penn State Schuylkill is a good, cheaper college to go to, with its friendly environment and people.
AVOID THIS CAMPUS AT ALL COSTS!! PSU STAFF STEALS FROM STUDENT APARTMENTS! During the evacuation of Students in March due to COVID19 crisis, STAFF took advantage of the pandemic and went into Student apartments and STOLE property belonging to a Student. Several weeks after Students were forced to evacuate immediately, telling Students they could return after spring break, Students were sent notices saying they could not return and that STAFF would be going into Student Apartments to [empty refrigerators to prevent the smell of food spoilage, creating health hazards.] STAFF took advantage of this pandemic, went into the apts and STOLE property belonging to Student(s). Admin did nothing about it, even blaming Black & other minority students of the theft although NO Student was in the apt at the time. STAFF removed the property, just as the notices indicated & they did NOT return the property to the rightful owner, a Student. STAY AWAY FROM THIS CAMPUS WHERE STAFF ARE THIEVES! Additionally, Housing is just over $1,000 per month, yet apts in Nittany 5 are overrun by hundreds of thousands of Millipedes! Bathrooms, kitchen, living areas, bedrooms, ALL over. Sweeping them out, hundreds appear within 30 minutes! Staff does nothing about it! Bookstore REFUSES to give Receipts for Books and will lie about books being paid for out of Financial Aid and therefore, being submitted for payment multiple times! Avoid this campus at all costs! It's definitely not worth the money YOU pay & YOU work hard for.
Very small class size. Teachers are very easy to reach but over its a very small campus, in a very small town with little or nothing to do. School rarely has any good activities. sports are okay here. Some might like the small community it gives off here.
It would be so much better if there were more things to do outside of the campus. Due to the small size, students usually feel trapped, like they can't go anywhere since the neighboring town doesn't have the best options such as restaurants, clubs, entertainment. The teachers are very friendly and are always ready to sit down and help. The students can be rowdy but overall very friendly as well. Wildlife is abundant here so watch out for skunks and deer.
The fall 2020 acceptance rate for Pennsylvania State University-Penn State Schuylkill is 75%. That means, out of _____ applications received in 2020 , _____ students were offered admission. The number of males who applied was _____ vs the number of females which was _____.
Take high school more serious and definitely work hard at everything I do. Also join more sports and clubs!
Family orriented . place to learn and make life long friends
SOME HAVE A GREAT ATTITUDE AND SOME ARE JUST NOT READY FOR SCHOOL YET.
I wish I would of known someone else besides myself that planned on attending my school
Even thought Penn State Schuylkill is a small campus, students are constantly on campus ground to use their facility for studying or socializing. There isn't enough lodge area around campus to support the growing Penn State Schuykill student population.
The Penn State name, it is a very well known school and looks good on any resume.
The best thing about my school is the school spirit. I have visited my friends at other colleges and remember visiting other schools during tours as a high school senior; no school compared to Penn State. Penn State's school spirit is indescribable. I remember during my freshman being so amazed by the comraderie that brings students from all different backgrounds together as one to celebrate in the pride we have for our school. "We are...Penn State!" is chanted at every campus event. Penn State Pride is also the reason the school has one of the largest alumi networks.
Any type of person. This is a very diverse college.
Being an alumni from a Big 10 School makes me very proud . I find that whenever I am having discussion with my friends about my school and our college experiences, I tend to almost always bring up the fact that we have an amazing football team. Since football games are major events at the school, it was always fun to participate in tail-gating activities and enjoy days with other Penn State students and staff. Volunteering at the games were also fun because I had an opporunity to meet Penn State alumni and share experiences that others can never understand.
My school is full of diversity. It is one of the key points that my school focuses on during the year. There are people that come from all over the world to attend school on the small campus. Each of them bring different qualities and characteristics that makes life on campus entertaining and unique.
The most frustrating thing about my school is that student activities are limited.
