The work that you are doing now in your senior year does pay off in the end. When you decide what you want to do in your life, the work you put in now is well worth it. Keep pushing yourself because it is worth it in the end. The things you want will not come easy and despite everything that has happened to this point, you will get passed it.

I would tell myself that even though life is a little rough right now I need to consider other colleges. Instead of going out to Michigan and wasting my time and money at the college I planned on attending I should consider local colleges here in Washington. I would also tell myself that I need to work on my Time management skills so I have time to study while having a personal life as well.

There is one main thing I would tell myself as a high school senior. I would say " Fill out as many scholarships as you can". Right now I am doing fine financially, but it would be nice to be able to save money for when I graduate from Pierce College, and transfer to a four year university, which will be much more expensive. If I had filled out more scholarships as a senior, I am sure I would have made more money for school, and wouldn't have had to work as hard to get where I am today. I looked at the scholarship opportunity as awards that were out of reach for me, I now realize that I didn't have to have perfect grades or thousands of extracurriculars to recieve scholarship money. I should have applied myself more, instead of slacking off my senior year. I most likely would have tripled my scholarship money , and wouldn't have to pay for school out of my own pocket, which is what I am doing today.

If I could go back in time and talk to myself as a high school senior there is a simple thing I would say, "Don't procrastinate." It is a phrase many tell themselves but few follow through. As a senior you think the world is at your feet and life seems so compromising, but in the real world it is the opposite. People are out to compete and fight for the perfect job. Education doesn't mean everything but it does show a lot about a person's character. Procrastination has or will affect every single person on this earth at one point but the thing is each individual has the same control over it as the next. I am one to believe that each person controls their own destiny and it is very important that we control the things that we can control. Procrastination is a very simple flaw that can be corrected but it takes a willing individual who wants to succeed and make an impact on there lives to over come ones ability to wait until the last minute.

Traveling back to the year 2005 to speak to myself as a senior in high school, I would start off by telling myself not to be dicouraged, find encouragement in my surroundings, and put aside negative comments. Letting myself know the following years will be difficult but transition will be easy. Tell myself that utilizing the help offered will benefit me greatly, if I have a question ask it. Lastly, I would encourage myself to make lasting, strong friendships that will be vital to reaching my potential as a student. Friends that will help me and encourage me to go on and friends that I can enourage and help as well. Having support as I go into college will help my ability to attain my goals.

Sarah, Please listen for I must make this brief. You are an intelligent girl that is simply bored with the classes you are taking. Please focus and work hard. You need to attend college directly after graduation. Go with what you have always wanted to be, a Child Advocate Lawyer. You had this dream because you had nobody as a voice for you as a child. You are going to grow up. You will be successful for a while in banking without a college degree but you will bun out because that is not where your heart is. Sadly you won?t realize this until after you have a child, get married, become a single mother, lose your job, and become disabled at 35. You will have to face a very ugly side of life while struggling to keep you and your son afloat. Your son will be your inspiration in every choice you make however you can plan ahead now and not wait eighteen years. Start your dream now and you will be making a difference in the lives of children that have had crimes committed against them. Be happy. Be their voice. Make the world a better place!

I would tell myself not to get so caught up in the desire to go to a university as a freshman. Having had that desire and not being able to fulfill it has turned out to better than ever. I have been able to still live at home for free and work while going to community college. Don't just think about your academic future when choosing a college, think about your financial future too and what will put you in better circumstances. Think about the advantages and disadvantages of both a university and a community college. Don't get so caught up in gaining the experience of a university as a freshman. Whether you're at a university or not your college freshman experience is going to be whatever you make it, just like anything else in life. And listen to your parents when they're giving you advice about your future. You'll be supprised that they might actually be right sometimes.

Wow, honestly I tell myself all the time what I should have done differently. I definatly would tell myself to take school more seriously. I struggled to hard to complete highschool, just my senior year alone was a rough road. I just thought everything else in my life was more important than "stupid and pointless" school. I would have told myself to get my head out of the clouds because in the long run you will regret it. Now, granted, I did pass my senior year with flying colors, but that was after all the the hardships and struggles to get it done on time I went through. I have only been in college for 3 weeks and I already take it so much more seriously. I want nothing more than to get through this and be successful. Maybe if I could have talked to myself when i was in HS I would have told myself how much more preparation and thought needed to go into college so I would have started sooner. Regardless, I made it through and that's all that matters now!

Considering the fact that I am 17 and enrolled as Full-Time Student at Pierce Community College, it is hard to say I ever had a chance for a senior year. But even so, I have learned a lot. In college, it is solely based upon your own individual will to succeed. In high school, you had teachers that stood by your desk until you got the problem correct or paper finished, but in college, it's your own problem. In college, there are no teachers. In college, there are Professors. Professors are paid to give you the knowledge they have and it is up to you to choose what you do with it. Since you are a Running Start Student, you have had the opportunity to learn early about true college life. As a high school senior, I can not imagine myself as more prepared then I am now. I was ready for a challenge, and college was the next step, my opponent. The transition was difficult at first, but it is worth it when you work hard. If you apply yourself as a senior and continue with that same work ethic, you are likely to succeed in college.

If I could go back in time and talk to myself as a high school senior, I would advise myself to properly prepare for whatever the future may bring- not just what I anticipated. This would include saving more money in case my future plans did not actualize. Until I graduated from high school, I planned to enlist in the Marine Corps as an infantryman and be deployed to Afghanistan shortly after training, and not have to worry about school, money, or housing. A change of circumstances prevented me from following through with my ambitions, so I enlisted in the Marine Corps as a reservist, having to balance school, finances, and my duty to country, which includes the very real possibility of going to war.

The advice I would give myself would be to educate myself more about the possible options for obtaining a degree that could help me obtain a career. I would also mention that even though life is hard and scary, don't do everything to please other. Pleasing yourself is very important in living a healthy life. Also, taking medication for attention-deficit disorder is beneficial to your education but focusing on it's stigma is not going to be mentally and physically healthy in the long run. Essay writing is going to be hard but stressing out and over thinking will cause you to gain doubt and struggle to finish, resulting in college applications to be incomplete. finishing essays is more important than making every sentence perfect. All the mistakes made will cause regret and regret leads to low self-esteem, so remember to focus on the task at hand and not the past. You will be happier and healthier.
