Pike’s Peak Community College is a wonderful college, with a vast variety of opportunity. Enrolling into Pike’s Peak was a complete breeze, and the ladies that helped me were genuinely interested in helping me and setting up for success. I am currently using a Chapter 33 post 9/11 GI Bill, and the men at the military and veteran’s office were also incredibly helpful. There was a bit of miscommunication with getting my benefits activated, however it was easily resolved. The men that assisted me, were very knowledgable on the in’s and outs of using the GI Bill and the best way to enroll into classes. They also provided excellent advice with which classes were realistic to take online, and which classes were best to take in-person. The first class that I’ve taken at Pike’s Peak Community College is ENG121 with Kacie Cooper, she is a terrific teacher and knows how to appeal to each of her student’s needs. Another thing that is wonderful about Pike’s Peak Community College is the employees there, like the employees at the computer lab. When I went to print out my first paper I had no idea how to convert a Mac Pages file to a Word Document or how to use a printer, luckily the employees there were experienced and were able to teach me some new skills about my MAC computer and how to effectively use the printers available. The cafeteria in Pike’s Peak Community College, the Centennial campus to be exact, is absolutely amazing. The women that work in the cafeteria are sweet and always make sure that they are getting your order correct, which I really appreciate. I’m very excited to continue my college career at Pike’s Peak Community College, and to get my degree in Early Childhood Education.

I took all but 2 of my courses online. The online program is awesome! It made my life 100% easier and it made a higher education possible for a single mom working fulltime. The teachers were always available to answer questions through email, phone, text or if you were really stumped on something they were happy to meet on campus. Registration and advising were very helpful leading me in the right direction for my goal.

Overall, I have really enjoyed Pikes Peak Community College (PPCC). When I first started at the college, I was very impressed by their new student orientation. I felt they did a wonderful job at preparing us for what it was like to be a student at PPCC. I have found that most instructors create a community of learners within the classrooms. I like how the college allows us to give a review of each class. It means a lot to me to have a voice in my education. I have not been too involved in the political side of the college, but I like that they send out information about events and elections. Newsletters and posters are all over the college and there have been many impactful events that the college hosts. Food giveaways, art shows, destress therapy dogs and international speakers, just to name a few. I have also had a chance to meet many of the public safety officers and the janitors and I admire how committed they are to PPCC. I am not involved with the shady side at the college, such as drugs or drinking. I have yet to see these things on campus. Another great feature of the school is the many resources that PPCC provides that have been so helpful to me as a student. They have a Writing Lab, Math Lab, a Library and much more, with all these resources it is clear to see they really want students to succeed at PPCC.

This review does not involve the professors, as I've actually had fairly good results with them. This is being written after multiple conversations with persons in the financial aid department. I am a military service member and have been for 14 years. I am taking classes in order to better myself, advance my career, and hopefully make myself a better server of the nation. To do this, I was wanting to take several science labs over the Summer 2018 semester at the Rampart Range campus. After all of the ridiculous fees that were added to the cost of tuition, it looked like I was going to owe about $3000. Being the sole provider for a family of five, this is not a sum that I can readily pay out of pocket, and having exhausted the small amount of tuition assistance that I receive for being in the military, I sought to receive financial aid. Keep in mind, I was only looking to get a loan. I wasn't looking for handouts or free money of any kind. After multiple conversations with several different people, I was told that since I was not seeking a degree there, I was not eligible for financial aid. This confused me because I felt that, as a community college, it was probably seen as a stepping stone for most people to take basic classes that they could use for a degree elsewhere. I originally chose this school because my wife took several classes here (she did not receive or seek a degree from there and was granted financial aid for every hour of class she was in...weird, right?). The individuals that I spoke with showed a general lack of caring or understanding when I tried to explain my situation. The last person I spoke with (I believe her name was Christina) was particularly unhelpful. I asked her if I could put it into the system that I was seeking a degree just so that I could receive a loan (once again, not asking for a handout, and the school gets their money). She said that this wouldn't work because she knew that's not what I intended. I then asked if they would prefer that I take classes elsewhere, and she said that maybe I should. So, with that last comment in mind, that is my recommendation to anyone seeking college credit in the Colorado Springs area: go elsewhere. Especially if you are in the military, because they obviously don't care.

My daughter was in the infant room from the age of 3 months to 6 months. I often hung out at the daycare and observed a lot that I didnt agree with. I finally pulled her out when I felt her life could have been at risk. Several times I saw the front door propped open to allow delivery men in and out. I saw one of the floaters throwing soft toys at an infant's head. I watched the infant room providers sit while children screamed to exhaustion and watched them tell others not to pick kids up because "all they want is to be held." I have seen them put food out of reach when a baby was being difficult to feed. All this bothered me but when I picked my daughter up one day and she had a fever of 103.7 and they had no idea (even though they were holding her) and they thought that a temperature of 86 was ok I pulled her out. I have no idea how long she had the fever. Or if she had a seziure because of the fever because most of the infant beds are around a blind corner that they cant see. I would not recommend this daycare to anyone. I was planning on pulling her out before she left the infant room anyway. I didn't trust the upper age level providers either. I like it a lot.

Pikes Peak Community College (PPCC) is a great transition school especially for older students and those who have been out of the game for a while. They offer a wide variety of online courses and are very accommodating. There are 3 campuses across the city that are fairly accessible. Their online portal is easy to figure out. Overall, this school is a good school.

Honestly, I really enjoy this school, all three campuses have a great atmosphere. They have a huge variety of degrees, and many different times and days to take certain classes. As far as the staff goes every staff member I have had to make contact with have been super friendly, outgoing, and very helpful. I do really enjoy this school.

It's a community college, meaning that you're not going to have your typical "college experience" here. However, the staff is amazing and strive to get all the students on a path of success to either graduation or to transfer on to UCCS to finish out your education there. That being said, if you attend a community college understand that you must put in the work necessary and no one will ever hold your hand. There are a ton of resources available but you must work your butt off to get to where you want to be!
