What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

Ivan

first of all, my best advice is that love is power, that only he who perseveres wins. you can never look back. and you always have to be focused on your goal to fulfill. and you always have to have confidence in yourself and in God above. never too late to try again until you get what you want.

If I could go back I would advice myself to stay on tract. Not to be nervous and know that you are in charge of the direction your life is going. Do not be afraid to take chances and just go for what you want to do. There is no way to fail as long as you get back up and try again.

My high school self went down a rough road, involving drugs, skipping school, and eventuallly rehab. Despite being fortunate enough to attend the Linworth Alternative Highschool in Worthington, OH I disregarded most anything of importance and lived on the edge. I dropped out of high school and ended up working full time almost immediately after turning 18, with no pauses since. I was irresponsible and racked up serious debt, which I only recently able to pay down. As a working adult, I have been struggling to get into a financial position where I could once again attend school. I would throttle my high school self, and advise her not to waste the opportunity to get a free education. The four years that compose high school are so ridiculously unimportant in the greater scheme of things socially, and yet so drastically important financially in regards further education. Don't squander that opportunity for the sake of a thrill and a good time; the alternative is to get stuck in the rut of the corporate ladder pushing a desk and resenting the mountainous work day. Blowing off high school is just not worth it.
