The university is a bunch of outlets with few signs and directions so a map is handy. The housing is fantastic for the space to chat, watch television and read is nice with the old and modern buildings. The only complaint is the bathrooms and closet space. In the buildings with classes, there are a lot of stairs and few drinking fountains so bring extra bottles and small backpacks. I don't much about the curriculum but the class size is suitable for the amount of students each day. Some things like trying to find the dentist, chiropractor, main events, financial aid and what each building specializes in needs improvement because most information is online and not word of mouth. Food is found in various places like for financial aid and Ondine and food carts so no reserve there. Mopeds, exercise apparel and one building contains the entire gym of the university and it is awesome. Don't overlook knowing that admittance is sequential and you need to be prepared from the beginning to enroll. Don't delay on financial aid and payment. For folks, living in another town, get some transportation if you have to work. There are opportunities on and off campus for employment so meet with an advisor on the best path. Don't overlook fun activities and clubs for it will take stress away. With studying, these classes will be harder than classes at a junior college so make a routine you are comfortable with and review several times before a test. Make use of the technology because there are several apps for class schedules, study time and event calendars. It was a brief visit but I shall enjoy PSU when I can, for if it changes me, I will grow too as I am challenged to give out my best and I will not fail.

Portland State University's urban yet welcoming atmosphere allows students to encounter other cultures and beliefs as well as explaining their own. World views are challenged and tested in the classrooms and outside them. It can have a charged or relaxed atmosphere and best of all, most people will be kind and understanding. Portland has its very own culture that students can enjoy including food, drink, the arts and sciences and everything in between.

I enjoy being a PSU student. It is affordable, the people are friendly, and there is always a way to get involved and make new friends! The openness of the campus is nice because you get to enjoy oregon during the spring, summer, and fall while still being safe on campus.

Portland State University is in the center of downtown Portland. If you like traveling and learning new languages and cultures then Portland State University is the best place for you. In addition to the variety activities that help students involve more in the college life.

It is beautiful and clean unlike some areas of the city. Busy like any city and challenging to find but still manageable if you drive so plan to arrive early. The academics, financial aid and staff were generally accurate but a professional in one field is better for specific questions. There weren't many concession stands or places for food in the halls but anyone can buy lunch off-campus, and there was a grocery store for extra necessities. A ton of stairs so take breaks often and bring plenty of water. It was cold so bring a heavy coat for the time you attend. Also, plenty of attractions to visit within a 5 block radius. The atmosphere was vibrant and artistic so don't be afraid to interact with strangers.

It's a commuter college where people are going to finish their degrees and join the work force. People take their education pretty seriously and you'll find lots of support educationally. I personally see very little party behavior or drugs, and many students are activists for groups they support and ideas they believe in.

What is your overall opinion of this school?

Portland State University is a diverse campus in regards to interests, culture, and sexual orientation. The classes I've had the privilege of taking, such as Queer Theory and Writing as Critical Inquiry, are challenging because they encourage you to expand your perspective and adopt alternative thought processes. The campus, lined with trees, is stunning all year round; especially during the fall when the leaves begin to change. I don't think I've seen one gum wrapper or coca cola cup on our sidewalks in the two years I've attended PSU. It doesn't hurt that there's always a good brewery, music venue, or restaurant within walking distance! If you can't walk, don't fret; the public transportation is incredible. The city is bustling with fresh fruit and veggie markets, counterculture hairdos, and all the dogs you could dream of petting. On campus housing is beautiful, however, I've chosen to live in the Northwest because the homes for rent on the west side of the Willamette have an undeniable charm that I'm quite drawn to. If we're not marching in protest and solidarity on the weekends you can usually find us at the Portland Art Museum, any McMenamin's, or hiking the countless trails that Portland has to offer (if the sun decides to make a rare appearance). Overall, PSU provides an academic environment that nurtures intellectual development for all of their students regardless of race, gender, religion, or sexual orientation. They provide the true definition of equity in education.

What is your overall opinion of this school?

I love the atmosphere and the ability to have nature incorporated into my daily walks around campus, specially the ability to take public transportation around even if it is not included in tuition. Parking however is hellish and permits are ridiculously expensive. There are a variety of food carts from all over the world. As well as clubs for anything you want practically.

What do you consider the worst thing about your school? Why?

Something that I wish someone had told me about freshman year was how much I would have to balance work, school, and social life together. I need to plan out every hour of the day practically in order to keep high grades and work to pay my tuition as well as having some friends outside of class.

I moved here about 3 weeks ago, and I love it. It's a bit tough to make friends but everyone is very friendly and always looking to help you out around in town. Campus is beautiful and really easy to get to everything. The dorms are either very social or not social at all, so you have to go out and find people.

What is your overall opinion of this school?

Portland State is a very diverse school. If you are bohemian/ a hipster, Portland State is definitely the school for you. Theres a wide range of clubs at Portland State so it is easy for everyone to find their crowd of people. Sports aren't as big of a deal compared to other Oregon Universities. Additionally, there is no greek life and there are not to many parties on campus.
