Its a beautifully, large campus, friendly students and professional staff. The people here are very helpful and the academic faculty want to see you achieve. I am glad I chose to attend this school. It has a great culture as well. I look forward to the next couple of years.

Kayk - 07/20/2021

It's my dream school. It's a really good school and the people wants the best for their students. Honestly if I would not have went to this school I would have been upset about it. They have a lot of offer to students when going down to the Hill . It's never changing in my opinion.

Callia - 07/22/2020

Prairie View is overall an amazing school. Once you become a panther you are a panther for life. We treat each other like family. With the huge variety of culture and beliefs found on the campus you will surely find someone who's similar to you, but you will also find interest in others and learn about different culture backgrounds. Mostly all administrators are willing to help with any problems a student may have. Choosing to come to an HBCU was one of the best decision I have ever made, and by far Prairie View is the best one.

  2. What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

Throughout college I have learned that some people go to school for social purposes and others come to get educated and graduate. I have found the numberof students who come to college to graduate is low, compared to the ones who come for social purposes. My entire experience has not been what I have expected it to be. I wanted all of my teachers to push me to my limits and give me all of the resources to become successful but most did not. Many of my teachers came to school to get a pay check. I have heard them say many times that they do not have to be here, because either way they are still going to get paid, Hearing them say that struck a blow to my chest. However, college has been most valuable to attend because I am a first generation student and I have to bring a diploma to my parents to show them that I did it.

  12. Here's your chance: Say anything about your college!

PVAMU is an HBCU so while the majority of the students are African- American, there are a mixture of other races. There is a good level of diversity here. Also, the dorm rooms are fairly new and the maintenance workers are timely with repairs whenever there are any. The food is also very good; its not cafeteria slop like most schools. Also, I feel safe on campus which was the biggest issue for me. Being an out of state student with my nearest family member more than an hour away, this is a plus.

The stereotypes that our college has is the dress code. Basically talking about the students who dress casual with collar shirts, slacks, nice pair of dress shoes vs. the students who wear baggy jeans, cargo shorts, tennis shoes, sagging to wear your boxers are showing. What they say about that is the students who dress presentable get a better internship positions. Is it true, it's a 50/50 on that subject because the students that doesn't dress up do dress up for interviews, business days, and class presentations.
