A typical weekend at Purdue is interesting. There always activities going on around campus and clubs to participate in. My own experience has been that the weekends are a time to relax and catchup on assignments and readings when necessary. There are very often screenings of films as well as plays to attend on campus. If none of the activities strike a student's fancy, the recreational sports center is open for pickup games of basketball, volleyball, tennis and many others as well as being stocked with good workout equipment to burn off a little extra stress from classes. In short, students will always have somewhere to be or something to do on the weekends.
Describe a typical weekend.
Drinking is not essential in making friends at Purdue. During your orientation you will meet people who drink and people who do not drink. There are lots of non-drinking activities for people who do not want to drink. The residence halls have events throughout the week and free movie rentals. There is a weekly floor dinner where you can eat and socialize with other people on your floor. The are a lot of regular events at Purdue like 1) free movie showings at The Union and when the weather is nice on Slayter Hill 2) Open mic nights for singers and guitar players 3) Improv comedy shows -- ALL FREE!
