I have only visited the Westville campus twice. I hope to tour the Hammond Campus in the near future. One major negative, in my opinion, would be that the Hammond Campus offers much more in majors, minors, sports, and overall activities. With me being a marketing major I am not able to take all my classes at my home campus. I have found that the more involved I would like to be, the more I'm having to attend two campuses. I wish there was an easier way for me to be an active college student on the Westville Campus. I hope one day they could have a better variety for their students.

Purdue University- North Central Campus, now known as Purdue Northwest after a merge with another local Purdue campus, provides opportunities for people like me! I have had 5 surgeries on my left leg and the school has gone out of its way to help me further my education despite my setbacks. Whether it is creating new class times, providing access to all classes, or checking on my safety and progress of my medical achievements. However, I must say that since the merge, the Elementary Education program has not made it easy for me to graduate. They did not “grandfather in” the students who where already there before the merge, making it harder for us to graduate and fulfill the course work. Many of my fellow classmates have had to extend their graduation date and add new classes that were simply renamed. In all, I must say that this college has provided me with the opportunities I needed to fulfill my dream of becoming a teacher. Especially after having to leave Purdue University - Main Campus due to medical issues. This local campus has worked with me and provided me with all the necessary tools to graduate and become the teacher I have always wanted to be!

My overall opinion of Purdue University-North Central Campus is good. I am currently attending as a dual credit student through Westville High School and they have given us a decent college experience. The class sizes are nice and professors are highly accessible. It's a university close to home that educates well. There are plenty of after school clubs to get involved into and is a very quaint campus.

I like Purdue North Central. Everyone on the campus is always so helpful. The teachers will help you if you have questions. This faculty wants the students to do well and succeed. They want us to be able to graduate from there and do well in life. The class sizes are not too extremely big either. There is about thirty students in each class, but I am still able to connect with the teacher one on one if I have questions about an assignment.

    If I were to have the chance to talk to myself during my senior year I would want to teach myself the best way to study. I have never been a person who studies before a test, but during my first year of college i have learned to balance my studing so that i don't have to study all night before a test. Another thing that i would want to tell myself is not to be so afraid. When i stated school i was afraid of what my teachers would be like and if my classmates would accept me. I would tell myself that everyting is going to be just fine and that the other people there would be just as afraid as me with all the same worries.

    Anyone that is not serious about getting a quality education and are being forced to attend college instead of going to further their education shoul not attend Purdue North Central.

    Purdue North Central is known for having a quality education for less money and having smaller more personal class room sizes. The largest classroom may have 32 students at the very most. The professors take the time out to work with you one on one and actually notice when you are not in class and care about why you are not there.

  6. What's unique about your campus?

    My needs and any issues I may have are quickly responded to. Staff & students are great. I feel they have higher standards than some other area schools (cirriculum is more challenging, more organized & prepared, more professional, better equipped.) Campus is beautiful, great day care center. Makes it easy for a non traditional student like myself to attend classes.

  7. What do you brag about most when you tell your friends about your school?

    I always end up telling all my friends about the close-knit atmosphere. I talk about how it is a small school and how that really helps bring the teachers much closer to the students. Because there are only three buildings and the school does not have as many students as other colleges, the class sizes are much smaller. This gives the teachers a chance to actually take the time to teach one-on-one with a student if they need help. The teachers are so helpful and I couldn't imagine going to a bigger school after being here.

    The school is some what smaller in size and doesn't offer much in the way of activities on campus. All of the students commute so unless one makes a conscious effort to get to know someone it is difficult.

    I am a Non- Traditional student there are some like me, however this campus is primarily first time out of high school students. I would say this is every person's school. We have a very diverse teaching staff and many people from different cultures in our classrooms. It is a bigger school with a small town feel, small classrooms and lots of one on one teaching time.

All students must apply yearly for financial aid. This process starts with the FAFSA. Though financial aid deadlines vary by school, it is a good idea to apply as soon as possible. For the upcoming school year, you can apply as early as October 1 for the FAFSA. Additional school aid will be dependent on the FAFSA results.
