Quinnipiac University Top Questions

Is the stereotype of students at your school accurate?

jess

The stereotypes, for the most part in my observations, have been true. I am guilty of rocking the Uggs and Northface, but I don't blame everyone for wanting to wear them. They're comfortable, go with everything, and are easy to put on. Every other girl on this campus is always wearing leggings and a shirt with Uggs or something to that effect. There really is no diversity here. Honestly, my friends and I are actually surprised when we see anyone of a different race on campus. It's also funny to see the different groups of kids - the black kids tend to hang together, the white kids tend to hang together, the spanish kids, etc.

Matthew

Yes, for the vast majority of people who go here. This statement is ENTIRELY accurate. I've known countless people who perscribe absolutely to these stereotypes on every personal depth, and I really wish I could attest to the opposite. Though there are people here whose values do speak to the contrary, they are by far and away NOT in the majority population. Furthermore, the movement on behalf of the Quinnipiac University Chronicle to attempt and get students to give statements on this website to the contrary is like having cancer but refusing to recognize it or treat it... or saying the war in Iraq has been as astounding success.

Jesse

Yes

Bobby

Whatever the case may be, those are general stereotypes and like anyone else you have to weed through the groups of kids to find those who actually matter.

Nicholas

To some extent

Robin

well as for politics i care, but im not sure about everyone else so i don't know if that one is true, as for the country club thing i think it's just that other schools are jealous of our very nice campus.

TJ

Our school is a private university (and therefore, quite expensive), and although there are students who can afford to pay out of their pockets, many students are struggling just as much as any other student at any other university. Every college has their "snobby" students, and while Quinnipiac seems to have quite a few, there are more students who are living the loan depending, multi-job life.

Danielle

Not every single girl is that way, it seems like there are a number of guidos but that's because they stick out, it is by no means a school for rich kids, and it is mostly white students.

Jamie

Yes. Quinnipiac is an over-priced and overrated school.

Adam

I hate to say, but they are frighteningly accurate.

Hayley

There are a lot of middle upper to upper class students at Quinnipiac, but most of these students are very down to earth and not stuck-up or flaunt their money.

ashley

well not everyone here is a partier, they put those not in special dorms (there are limited non-partiers), and yes, all the girls here are stupid

Ashley

Sure

Steven

yes.

Lindsey

There are pleanty of "rich kids" at Quinnipiac, but you will find them at any school. There are pleanty of students who aren't rich Quinnipiac is a beautiful campus, but I would hardly call it a country club where kids don't do work. Quinnipiac is a very demanding school that, in my opinion, asks academic excellence from its students. All schools have their fair share of parties...Quinnipiac included...but I wouldn't call it a party school.

Stephanie

not all..alot of rich people and people from Tri state area, but there are also alot of great people here

Amanda

In some cases, yes. There are those students that have all the money in the world and are given everything by their parents. There are those of us, however, that actually have to work to be here. I am not rich. I chose this school because I loved the campus and I'm busting my ass to go here. Not only do I work at school I also work during the summer and have to take out loans to be here. My parents aren't paying for anything, it's all me. I can't even explain to you how much debt I'm gonna be in after I graduate. But I think that as long as I am happy and am getting a decent education, I'll worry about the money later.

Morgan

not always, some kids have money but its the same with every school. Some say Quinnipiac has a racial issue. There is no issue besides the fact that it is mainly a white school.

John

The stereotypes about this University are quite true. I am not a huge fan of how conservative this school is. Our President has decided to censor the student run newspaper because of some bad press he received. It is true that the academics here are challenging, this is a good thing, when you get a good grade you know that you have earned it! The students here are from all different walks of life. There are preppy, snobby kids everywhere you go. Quinnipiac had a bad reputation for having very snobby people, I found this to be false. Obviously there are some people who are snobby yet that is a minority here. Yes, we have a large percentage of female students.

kristin

your going to find dumb stuck up girls everywhere, i dont generally think this school is thatt stuck up, great campus

Katelyn

After spending I year here I'd say this isn't necessarily true. There is a general look on the weekend when everyone's going to the clubs, but Quinnipiac has a broader range than it's given credit for.

Shelby

This is absolutely not true. I am not spoiled, from the upper class, nor do I wear Abercrombie and I am not blonde. At any school you go to there are going to be some students who appear to be spoiled, but there are also students who are ordinary down to earth people.

Rachel

The clothing stereotype is true, but I have never met so many nice people in my life. I actually do not think I have met one "stuck up" person since I've been here.

Brianne

The school definitley lacks diversity. The kids who go here are wealthy, but not all of them. My roomates and I fit together well because we all grew up in similar households. It is intimidating to be surrounded by rich students and frustrating because most of them do not know what its like to have job and work for what they own because mommy and daddy buy them everything. There are some amazing people on campus however who contribute to the commmunity and their peers. Academically, the school is unbelievable and I wouldnt trade my education here for anything.

Allysa

I find that this is partly true. I know my family has money, but we are average middle class people, not rich, not poor. However, there are people around campus who walk around with designer everything and hold themselves to be very snobby.

Andrea

Although some people are wealthy, there are people from all walks of life here and most people are very down to earth. It seems that most people do get along though. For the most part, however, the campus is not very diverse. The majority of the campus is white.

Ross

overall yes. there is alot of partying and alot of rich kids but everyone can find their niche. Students love their friends and like their teachers but are generally unhappy with the way they are treated by the school. The strong connection to their friends and academics keeps them from transfering due to the treatment from administrators.

Tate

Yes

christine

i do believe that quinnipiac is more along the prepy lines maybe, but the students here are not at all stuck up in any way.

Emily

Yes to some extent. The campus is made of mostly white students and since the school is quite expensive it does tend to attract students with more money.

Blake

Of course these aren't accurate, not of everyone anyway. You're going to find people like this on any campus, guaranteed, but the majority of the people here don't fit these stereotypes.

Daniella

No. Most students work extremely hard to get to where they are today.

Heather

I don't think so. Although some students may be better off (and show it) there are many students who work hard and get what they deserve. I do not think our campus is spirited at all; there is such a low attendance at sports events and no "pep" at our school.

Caitlin

No for both

Kristin

yes, with most of the students here.

Lindsay

no

amy

i dont think you can really judge the whole school upon a few individuals

Paige

with some people they can be, but there are way more people who don't fit them

Dale

for some students

Tristan

Most of the people I know are wealthy. Many QU students are snooty and dumb, but not the ones I associate with.

Steph

Pretty much for a lot of students but of course there are the exceptions (me).

Katelyn

yes

Melissa

I believe that the apathetic part may be true but the fact that everyone is from a middle to upper class family is not true.

Julia

These stereotypes are not accurate at all. First, not everyone is "rich" and pretty much every I know has a job and makes their own money and does not have their parents pay for everything.

Amanda

Yep

Laura

to some extent

Alex

most aren't

Jackie

yes these sterotypes are correct but not for all students
