Quinnipiac University Top Questions

What is your overall opinion of this school?

Jessica

The size of the school is good. I like the smaller class sizes because you can always get help during class if needed. I spend most of my time in my room, the cafe, and the library. The recent controversy on campus is weather or not to have may weekend again. May weekend is usually the last weekend before finals where everyone romes around drunk.

Sarah

the campus is a great size, sometimes it feels like its getting smaller and smaller but it's nice to see familar faces.

Emily

I'm an admissions counsler so part of my job is to advertise the school is a positive light. Everything that I say outside the facts is absolutly true. I've throughly enjoyed my four years here, I became part of a great community that helped me develop into the person I am today.

Arielle

I think that the size of Quinnipiac is just right. I spend most of my time on campus in the dorms or out on the quad.

Rebecca

I think our school is really great. I have meet such amazing people here and I would not change it for the world. I think our school is perfect size. I think that sometimes I would like to know were all this money is going that we pay to go here, and maybe change up the food a litlte it is always the same thing. Overall everyone that works here is very nice and friendly. I will always remember the friends I have meet and the great times we have had.

Colleen

The best thing about Quinnipiac is the beautiful campus. I think our school is a great size, its not too small or too big, you still feel like you know people but not everyone. When i tell people i go to Quinnipiac they usually comment on how pretty our campus is and it is a good school. The biggest recent controversy was over getting rid of May Weekend... a lot of stupid kids wrote racist comments on walls and just did very immature things, which a lot of guys at Quinnipiac are like. We have some school pride, but we dont have a football team or really great basketball team. The good thing is that we have hockey and a great new facility which is awesome.

Brianne

The best thing about Quinnipiac is the closeness of the students. It is good to see familiar faces when you are walkind down dorm road or in the cafe. When people hear that I go to Quinnipiac they think that I am very smart but am spoiled because they assume I am very rich. The biggest controversy on campus is that of diversity. There have been hate crimes as many other campuses do but it was not handled in the best manner. Some students believe that Quinnipiac administration should have had a stricter punishment for those who had committed the crime.

Sasha

I love our campus, its one of the best I have seen while looking for schools. Its kind of small, not that diverse. I would love for QU to get a pool so that we can create another team and more study work jobs. At first i hated it here the people are really into themselves and drinking but after joining greek life it is so much better. i dont like how the school handled the racial slurrs done in the beginning of the year

Allie

The best thing about Quinnipiac is the campus. This is one of the most beautifully detailed campus with lots to look at. With Sleeping Giant Mountain over looking the Quad, the close-knit plan of the campus is appealing to all. With that said, it often feels like you are sometimes in a bubble when you are living on campus. You don't really have a need to go off campus so your life often revolves on the issues that happen on campus. It also has a lot to offer when it comes to student activities and clubs. I have been given so many experiences that my friends at other schools haven't been given. Then again I have made the opportunities what they are. As far as the adminstration goes, its often criticized for looking over the students' heads and thinking about the image of the university.

Emma

The best thing about Quinnipiac besides the beautiful campus is the strong sense of community. You can walk down Dorm Rd and even if you don't know the person's name you recognize them from somewhere and say hi and they are just as friendly back. If I could change one thing it would be the housing lottery. My roommates and I did not get a number this year and the system could use some revising to make it more fair. My school is the perfect size. It is big enough to not feel claustrophobic and small enough to be very friendly and close. People usually don't know what town Quinnipiac is in so I have to explain that we're about fifteen minutes outside of New Haven. I spend most of my time on campus but occasionally I go out shopping in Hamden or out to dinner in New Haven. Quinnipiac's adminstration is doing a good job of keeping small class sizes and having an excellent staff with some really amazing and helpful professors. The biggest recent controversy on campus was the racial slurs written on students doors. I know when it comes to sports there is a lot of school pride a lot of students go out the games and support the teams. I think something unusual about Quinnipiac is where it is. It is located next to a huge park so students can be active and it has a huge quad where students can hang out. Other schools I have been too were so spread out but Quinnipiac is just right and it makes a really great community. One experience I will always remember is moving in sophomore year. I am living in a great suit with my best friends so I have never been more so excited to start school. The most frequent complaints area about the lack of variety in cafeteria food and that the cafeteria closes too early.

Kelly

Quinnipiac is a beautiful campus, but Hamden itself is kind of ghetto. I feel like a lot of people here aren't completely satisfied with their college experience, but more because of the type of people that go here rather than education quality. I feel like it's a good size - the classes are nice and small but you can still meet new people every weekend. We have problems with acceptance and diversity, and are pretty much in a huge bubble with no idea of what's going on in the world. School pride is so-so, depending on who you hang out with.

Dale

I think that the most annoying thing about Quinnipiac as living off campus as a senior, is how unwelcoming the rest of the Hamden community is of Quinnipiac students.

Jacque

Quinnipiac is an experience i will always remember because of the friendships I made and the education I received. Everyone is very friendly and welcoming and it just the perfect size to fit in and not feel left out.

Dana

I love the campus, its beautiful. Not everyone always knows where/what QU is though. The size is just right. I now live off campus and hate it...on campus is so much better. I think less than 10{4a082faed443b016e84c6ea63012b481c58f64867aa2dc62fff66e22ad7dff6c} of our students would know our president if they ran smack into him. Administration was RIDICULOUS changing the orientation program. I think that was my recent biggest controversy. We don't have nearly enough school spirit. But I've met amazing people and wouldn't have rather gone to any other school. I love it here!

Sarah

The best thing about Quinnipiac is the small, welcoming atmosphere. I think it's just the right size because you can recognize faces as you walk to class, but you don't know everyone. I think Quinnipiac's administration is a little too strict because they are trying to maintain a clean reputation. I think the biggest controversy on campus would be the recent use of racial slurs. I feel as though Quinnipiac does not have that much school pride, but it has increased since the TD Banknorth center was built. One experience I'll always remember was becoming a part of Phi Sigma Sigma.

Lauryn

Quinnipiac is actually a great school. I believe i am getting a very good education. The professors and administration really work hard to provide you with a great education. Besides education, I have met a great group of people here. On a different note, the food sucks. I can not wait until next year when I will have a kitchen to cook my own food in. Also, the lottary system for getting a dorm room is extremely inefficient. There are many students left with no room and who are split up from their friends and placed randomly throughout the campus. The surrounding area is nice. very suburban with all the general chain restaurants and stores. New Haven is very close and there is a shuttle running there which is great for going out at night. It is definitely a college scene around here, with Southern CT State University, Yale, University of New Haven, and Quinnipiac all so close to each other. One thing quinnipiac is lacking greatly is school pride. There definitely is not much of that around here, which I kind of wish their was. All in all, it's a pretty great school.

Nicole

One thing that i would change is the parking situation. It is a hassle to get to you car, and is very time consuming. It is a process and it is not easy, it needs to be revised.

Anida

Small accessable nice campus improve on diversity affordablity

Christine

I think the school is a good size. The administration apparently wants to make it bigger, but there is no room for that. I commute to campus so I am hardly ever there. Everyone goes into New Haven for food or entertainment and the clubs. There is not a lot of school pride. My freshman year, there was. This year I do not see it at all. Hockey is a big sport at QU and the games usually were packed and sold out instantly my freshman year, but this year, not so much. I think most students are too busy getting wasted and going to clubs to care about school spirit honestly.

Rory

Quinnipiac needs to be less worried about its image and more worried about students. The administration needs to care more about students and what they need. The campus needs to be more diverse. Too many white girls.

avery

A great aspect I have noticed is the Schweitzer Institute. The students involved in community service at Q.U. do not fit the stereotype.

James

The best thing about Quinnipiac is the campus and the health sciences major. I would change the rate of admissions into the business school. The size of the school is good, its just right. People usually say good for you. When my room mates aren't in the room, my room, other wise I will go and hang out with friends. We are on the outskirts of Hamden. When T-Pain came to the spring concert, he was drunk and trying to take girls back to his hotel, it was so stupid, because he can't sing, it goes through a computer. The cafe, how much chartwells rips us off!

Caroline

Quinnipiac is picturesque, if you want to feel like you're on a college campus this is the right place for you. The best thing about the Q is probably the people you'll meet. It's really easy to meet people, and also to find people who are similar to you. Your experience is going to be what you make it to be (where ever you go). If I could change one thing about Quinnipiac It'd have to be the girl to guy ratio. Being a female we out number the guys by a large number. Quinnipiac is a good size, I see a lot of familiar faces everyday, yet I also meet at least one new person every few days. In the early months of fall, and mid April I spend most of my time outside on the quad (Where mostly everyone is) because there is not a better place on campus to be. You have the beautiful sight of the Sleepy Giant, and you're boxed in by the Universities beautiful buildings. In the winter the biggest scene is the TD BANK NORTH hockey arena. Hockey is HUGE! If you're really involved in politics, and being involved in protesting is something you're into, Quinnipiac isn't the place for you. I wish overall that Quinnipiac would become more apathetic. You wont know until you come see the campus for yourself that the Q is the place you'll want to spend the best four years of your life at, and a place you'll eventually refer to as home.

Jess

This school is the perfect size and the grounds are mantained beautifully. Every effort is made to assure that everything about this campus appears to be wonderful to visitors. Alot of the time I feel like the manicured trees, lawns, and high tech equiptment are used to lure in perspective students, but do not necessarily benefit the students who go here. The addition of more students to the campus than the school can actually accomodate is a growing problem. While I admit that this school is growing in leaps and bounds (with the completion of new dorm buildings, expansion of the cafeteria, and the new York Hill campus), QU's eyes may have been bigger than its stomach so to speak. It is a nice place to live and the dorms are better than most I have ever seen on a college campus. There is a type of housing for every kind of student. One of my favorite things about Quinnipiac is when the weather gets nice at the end of the semester it is common to see students reading and hanging out of the quad and others playing wiffle ball and frisbee.

stefani

The school does not seem to invest money in its own current students. To outsiders and even ourselves, they seem to care about being a money-making machine. The school builds a sports complex that is their pride and joy - but there is barely an art room for art students. This is very annoying. They do not seem to care that students are forced to live off campus and annoy the suburban families with their partying ways. No, Quinnipiac puts its money into making itself look better to the outside, and not to its students. It also gives VERY LITTLE financial aid. Unless you are a stellar athlete, expect to get nothing and take out tons of loans. How does this school expect to increase its alumni endowment if it is having students pay loans for the rest of their lives? This, again, is one of the most frustrating things about the school. the adjuncts here are amazing. These professors actually work in the real world, so they know what it's like to be in school and have a job. Take one of them - it is worth your tuition payments.

Amanda

Every time I tell people i go to school here, i have to explain to people that i am not slutty, easy or stupid. i feel like i have to justify my college education to others. i like quinnipiac because it is small and i have a lot of friends that i can see often. the environment is fun and has the right amount of schoolwork mixed with a good time. quinnipiac's administration seems very distanced from the student body and there has been some issues concerning the campus newspaper's right to report and controls put on it by the administration.

Brett

The best thing about Quinnipiac is its amazing campus, great academics, and professors who get to know you, the person. You are not a number at this school. One thing I would change about Quinnipiac is the housing situation. While the dorms are nice, they are a bit overcrowded. I think the size of the university is perfect -- but a few extra dorms would be great. I'm an alum of the university, so when I tell people that I went to Quinnipiac, they immediately think of the polling institute and the School of Communications, which is great, because I work in the media. People also know it as a great school for physical therapy and health sciences. The best thing about Quinnipiac, which I remember even as a graduate, is the personal connection you have with your professors (I still keep in touch with some of them). I love that. Also, the ability to get involved so quickly. One of my fondest memories is producing and anchoring the news every Wednesday night on the campus TV station. All my friends were involved, and the show was entirely student-produced. What a great experience -- and we learned a lot, too!

Cassie

Our school has been accepting too many students so there is an overpopulation with a lack of student housing. We are getting more popular through our sports teams and our new TD Bank North Arena for Basketball and Ice Hockey. The library is always full and parking sucks. May Weekend was the best, while it lasted.

Jimmy

The best thing about Quinnipiac is the that I get a sense that professors here genuinely care about the success of students. I have had professors who have responded to late-night emails minutes after I have sent them regarding homework that is due. They do not mind making themselves available for questions outside of the classroom, and that ranks very highly in my book. The school size is just where it needs to be. We're a close community. It is not guaranteed that a student will know everyone on campus, but after living here for almost a year, I have come to know a good range of students spanning from freshman to seniors. The first thing people ask me when I tell them that I go to Quinnipiac is, "How do you say that again, Quinni what?" Then the next question almost always is where is the school because I have never heard of it. I did not have a problem with Quinnipiac's administration until a few days ago. I have trouble figuring out why they would base the order of selecting housing on whether or not you took courses for college credit back in high school. One thing has absolutely nothing to do with the other. Not that I would've turned back the hands of time and taken a course for credit, but not disclosing this information until a few weeks before it is time to register is stupid. School pride is only found on campus through visible wearing of the school's clothing, or through students attending the Men's Hockey games, outside of that, school spirit is not existent to me. The only other way to get students to come support teams is to giveaway something. One experience I will always remember is definitely the weekend of this past Easter. There were only 4 people on my side of the hallway from Thursday night until Sunday evening. We ended up calling it the "I Am Legend Weekend" because we almost felt like Will Smith did in that movie, all alone and no form of civilization around. But we made the best of it. We became so desperate for entertainment that we watched Season 1 of the Mighty Morphing Power Rangers DVD. Not quite what I had anticipated when the weekend began, but ideas were coming up short.

Ally

I can't begin to explain what the best things about Quinnipiac are, because there are more than one. Right now, the best thing would have to be our new arena, the TD Banknorth Sportscenter. It's a great facility that hosts games for our Division I Mens & Womens Ice Hockey and Basketball teams! One thing I would change abut Quinnipiac it would be that we should be encouraged to buy MAC computers, instead of the encouraged Dell Latitude program. QU is just the right size for me. It's not huge where you have classes in huge ampitheater seating with 300 other people, and it's not too small where everyone knows your business. I went to a small all girl private school with a graduating class of 140, and there was a student body of a little under 600. Quinnipiac has about 5,600 undergraduate students. It's great to go to class and have the professor know my name and not my social security number. Professors here actually care about how you're doing in the class and are very willing to help you if you're having a problem. When I tell people I go to Quinnipiac, most of the time they ask me to repeat the name again. Some people have never heard of it at all, so they have no presumptions about who you are. For those that do know about QU, they usually think you're wealthy, preppy, drive a nice car and are conceded; but once they get to know you, they'll find quite the contrary. If you tell an adult about QU, they know it by the Quinnipiac Poll that's done for upcoming elections. On Campus, during the week, everyone is hustling and bustling heading to classes, going to the AMAZING library to do some work there, the student center to get a bite from the Cafe Q, send out some mail, hang out in the game room upstairs or even head over to the athletics center to use they gym, go to a yoga, dance or pilates class or if it's a nice sunny day, hang outside on the quad. Hamden, the town where QU is located, is a college town. Yale, SCSU and some other universities are close by. in town there is a shopping center, and there are plenty of restaurants. There are also shuttles to New Haven which take you to the Train station, which can take you to either up north like Boston, or down to New York City. Also, on the weekends, shuttles do take students to the downtown area which has several clubs that students attend. And the best thing about the shuttles is that they are FREE! There is Plenty of school pride here at QU, that's why we're (the students) are known as the Crazy Bobcats! Men's Ice Hockey is definetly the most popular sport to attend on campus, especially because of the new facility. We have Division I teams that do very well in the NEC and ECAC Hockey. One experience I'll always remember is my freshman orientation. It was an amazing weekend, and made my transition from high school to QU so much easier. We created strong bonds with eachother, and it made it so easy to meet people. The thing most students complain about is parking. there is on campus parking, but there are also 2 lots off campus that are a 3 minute shuttle ride away. Freshman also dont like that they cannot have their cars until their sophomore year.

Mike

Alright, let's see hope I don't make this too long, and not make it sound too much like a long list, but here it goes. I would say for me the best thing about Quinnipiac is definitely the quality of education you can receive and the quality of the programs here. Also a very very close second would be the large amount and very wide range of student clubs and organizations that students can become involved with on campus. From greek life, to student radio and tv, to ethnic and religious groups, to politics, to everything else in between, there is most likely something for you. In terms of size, I'd put Qu in the small to medium range which personally for me is perfect because I'm from a smaller town and enjoy the close community feel. With about 5500 undergrads its nice to see the same people on a regular basis and not feel like 1 person in a massive city like college. When I tell people I go to QU I would definitely say it has always drawn a very positive reaction and people always comment on the great communications school we have here, as if me, the student here has never seen it. I'd say I personally spend the most amount of my time in our student radio station WQAQ. I am very very involved with WQAQ and love it and all my friends that I have made through it. School pride, ok, well last year we were rated as the #2 most apathetic school in the country by the Princeton Review. But, I'm not sure if that was geared toward school spirit or politics or what. But I will say that nowadays, school pride is very high. This school eat, sleeps, and breaths Men's Ice Hockey and both Men's and Women's Basketball. The TD Banknorth Sportscenter is very impressive, and if you visit QU go up to the arena too, its very cool. I will say that when I first came to QU in the fall of 2006, I lived in a room with some roommates that I didn't really fit in with and the first few weeks were tough. But I will say to any incoming freshman the best thing you can do for yourself is find something you like and become involved with it. I decided to break out of my shell, be invloved and meet lots of people. Like i said, most of my best friends are through WQAQ and by joining other clubs and becoming an RA I now love being here at QU. I had a soild core of friends in high school but was never close to being popular. Here I usually can never walk somewhere without ever seeing someone that I know personally. Bottom line, is at QU there is a way to make it a place you will love to be a part of.

Amanda

I feel that the best thing about Quinnipiac is the class size/student:teacher ratio. I believe that since the classes are so small the teachers care more about each of their students and they want them to succeed. The only thing that I would change about Quinnipiac is the location because it is so close to my hometown. I believe that our school is just right according to size. I believe that people are very shock that I attend Quinnipiac University because it is so close to my home and many people wonder why someone would want to stay that close. Most of my time on campus is spent either in my room or in the library. I believe that the administration at Quinnipiac is sometimes one-sighted and they don't see the big picture. Sometimes I don't think they realize what is necessary to change things on our campus. I believe that there is school pride, but sometimes there just isn't enough. If you look at the women's games (ice hockey or basketball) for our school there are barely any fans/students in the stands rooting for these teams. In terms of our school as a whole I sometimes believe that there isn't much school pride. I believe that there are two experiences I will always remember, one would be joining a sorority and the other would be being President of the Pep Band.

Amanda

The best thing about Quinnipiac happens during the spring semester when it starts to warm up. Everyone sits outside and does work on the Quad or plays sports outside and it just feels like your in this little world where everyone is the same and all you want to do is be with each other.

Erin

The best thing about QU? The small classes, the professors, and the scenery. I believe the school is just right. When people ask where I go and I say "Quinnipiac", they say "Oh, in Pennsylvania?", or "Oh, the poll place." Most of my time in campus is either in the classroom, editing lab, or in my bed. Somewhat of a college town inconviniently placed in the middle of a suburban town that quite frankly does not like us. The administration, - eh.. The most recent controversy is the struggle of the campus media to enjoy the freedoms granted to us by the First Ammendment. Something called a PR team stuck their noses in and now the school paper may have to become independent - for doing absolutely nothing wrong. Hockey games are where the most school pride can be seen. GOOOO BOBCATS! One experience I will always remember is May Weekend with my 9 awesome roomates. The best part is - I will always remember it and yet can't remember a god damn thing. Too bad they took it away. May Weekends were great! Most frequent student complaints would have to be parking . . class registration, and overcrowded dorms.

Hunter

I would have to change the way that the college is run. It seems that QU is being run like a buisness, and the students are just a way to get $40,000. The only thing that seem to concern the administration is the bottom line. This led to a big controversy regarding journalism students, as the administration refused to give interviews without going through a Public Relations department.

Mike

The campus. Wow. Have you seen the campus? Sometimes when I'm having a bad day and for some reason had to run out to a computer lab at 2 in the morning (yeah they are open then) I just look around at the campus and become thankful that I'm at QU. If I have to I'll be out and walking around campus at any hour, it's extremely safe. Even at 2 in the morning on a weekday you will see security driving around and everything is well lit. Living at QU is like living at a park... creeks, ponds and fountains. HOCKEY IS HUGE. The QU hockey team is filthy good and we love to let everyone else know it. Especially Yale (who we repeatedly destroy). The hockey games are the most fun I've ever had at this school. Imagine 1,000 wild college students jumping and screaming for 2 hours straight. Oh yeah and the tickets are free. For some reason kids at Yale hate kids at QU. They think we are disgusting party animals and our girls are all whores. Well they go to the same clubs that QU kids go to and do the same things. They like to bash us in their student paper all the time. No one is really sure why they hate us so much. Most people here like Yale, so the hate definitely is not reciprocated by us. (But it sure is nice when our hockey team destroys theirs)

Lane

I like how nice the campus always looks, its comforting to see the Quad with green grass, and everything looking great always. It keeps my mind calmer. The size is great, i love it. Quinnipiac is becoming slowly more recognized as a school, in a good way. It has a very positive reputation.

Katie

The best thing-I love the people here. My friends are amazing. I would change the administration's discord with the student body. School is a little too small...its always interesting to see new faces from day to day. When I say I go to Quinnipiac, people tell me that its a good school. Administration has a dictatorial role over the student body, I feel like we have no say. Biggest controversy-no may weekend. School Pride-eh, not really. One experience-Freshman orientation. Frequent Student complaints-amount of money it costs to go here, cafe food prices.

Christina

best thing is the scenery... quinnipiac is beautiful. I would change the parking situation... there is not enough parking for all of quinnipiac undergrad nor is there enough parking on campus or for commuters. School is just right. People say "quinni-what?" I spend most of my time with friends. Its a mix of college town... Hamden is not a college town but New Haven is and quinnipiac has shuttles that take uss there. no opinion. Biggest recent controvecy was someone writing the N-word on dorm rooms. For Hockey-yes thats about it. No-- just like any other small private school in the north east. I will always remember May weekend- it was my first and the school's last. The food sucks (even though its better than most other school's food)

Mike

To me, Quinnipiac has a picturesque campus. It's right at the foot of the absolutely gorgeous Sleeping Giant Mountain, which is by far my favorite thing about the school. It's visible from just about anywhere on campus, and during autumn and winter it makes for some breathtaking views. The campus size is also perfect; it's big enough to not feel suffocating but it's possible to travel from one end to the other in a pleasant 10-15 minute walk.

Cameron

What's the best thing about Quinnipiac?: The usually devoted and educationally minded profs willing to encourage those interested (whom are few). and relative small size. Name one thing you'd change - GET MORE PEOPLE HERE WHO ARE NOT FROM NJ, LI, MASS, or NH!! and not such vanilla folk either! How do people react when you tell them you go to Quinnipiac? - amongst adults: "ohhh, thats a good school." amongst college students: "Shit, I went to what the fuck is it called once...irma?" What's your opinion of Quinnipiac's administration? - Student body overreacts to much blundering by the prez. who really is a hilarious, honest guy. What was the biggest recent controversy on campus? - Newspaper privileges, see above.

Sallie

Meh. Size is fine. Some dorms nice. Others, not so much. New Haven is great but if you don't have a car, you're screwed.

Danielle

One of the best things about quinnipiac is the small community feel it has to it. i like the size of it and how i can walk to class or lunch or wherever and run into someone i know. it makes me feel like im home. alot of the people act really impressed when i tell them i go to quinnipiac because they know its an academically challenging school. alot of my time is usually spent between my dorm and classrooms. the classrooms can alternate between a meeting or an actual class. for the most part, i do like the administration at quinnipiac. the people i have interacted with are very helpful and friendly. this school has alot of pride when it comes to hockey games and thats about it. one experience about this school that ill always remember is the genuine interaction ive had with my friends and sorority sisters on campus. many of the people here are people i love to be around. the most frequent student complaint is the food, hands down. its not that good at all.

Torry

Slightly too large. How people react: Where? Oh, okay. (Nod, like they've heard of it). I spend most of my time in my dorm. Hamden hates us. Controversy: T-Pain escorted off campus by police after spring concert, security mum on details. Once again rated second most apathetic campus. Yale publishes second article in student paper about how we're all a bunch of sluts. Theft in a dorm. Racial slurs on students' white boards. Pride: Only at hockey games.

katie

I like QU. I think the cafe is pretty shitty. I'm not saying the food's bad, it just way too small and the hours aren't long enough. I like the shuttles and the fact that the shuttles are free and do run pretty late. I wish there was on campus parking for soph's and not just parking for us in a secured lot where we can get a shuttle to. Hockey is big here (mens), and are a must for every student. The campus is alwaysssss pretty and clean and sleepy giant is a very nice view.

Casey

The campus is great. There's nothing better than throwing around the football on the quad when everyone else is out there. The one thing that I would change is the housing situation. Each year it varies in numbers so you are always picking up/droping room mates. Shit can get ugly. I cam from a small high school and i feel that this school is a little on the small side. It is deinitely a college town, especially with New Haven 10 minutes away. The administration could really give two shits about what the students care about. Once you're in, you're just a number. The most recent controversy was when they administration would not let the news paper print what they wanted. They feared that it would harm the school's reputation. A lot of people complain about the food but it really isn't that bad. I have visited my friends at big state school and those cafeterias make ours look like a 5 star restaurant.

jackie

the best thing about quinnipiac is the campus. i would change the dining services it is just right in size people usually ask "quinni-what?" i spend most of my time in my dorm what college town? don't have an opinion of the administration the biggest recent controversy has been racial slurs there is a lot of school pride at hockey games, other than that not really nothing unusual i'll always remember may weekends students complain about financial aid, food

lauren

Best thing: setting One thing I'd change: parking lots Most people have never heard of Quinnipiac. There is not a lot of school pride at all. Athletic events are not widely attended.

I think the campus size is perfect since everything is in walking distance. There is room for improvement in some of the courses and especially the food.

1. I wish there was more parking and that the administration wasn't so uptight thinking that all non-athletes are the devil. 2. The school population is just right, but there is not enough housing or parking for the number of students enrolled. 3. They ask "Quinni-what?!" I respond with, "It's by Yale." 4. I spend most of my time in the dorms on campus. 5. The town is somewhat run by the college, economically speaking. Quinnipiac is very secluded so it's kind of a town in itself. 6. I do not like the Quinnipiac Administration. When I first came to school it was fun, then they started making rules like crazy for no reason and taking privileges away for no reason. Quinnipiac is more like a boarding school than a college because you aren't given much leeway with anything. Also, you will never ever ever meet the President; he does not care about getting to know the students. If you want a President who cares about knowing the students try a college like Siena. 7. The biggest recent controversy was the editor in chief misquoting the president in poor taste, or twisting his words. Of course the school tried to do so much damage control to cover the president's butt; it was really absurd. 8. They try to create school pride, but there really is none. It is a HUGE facade. 9. Quinnipiac is the "whitest" school you will ever visit; there is very little racial/ethnic diversity. 10. I will always remember being able to set up the school concerts and how I got to meet a number of celebrities by being involved. 11. Students complain about all of the absurd rules, how the administration is out to get every student (and trust me, I've been on the "inside" and they are out to get everyone), overcrowding in dorms, no parking for students both on and off campus.
