What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

Kristen

If I was able to go back in time and talk to myself as a high shool senior, the first thing I would say is education must be priority! I would tell myself about the job I have at the hospital now and how much I want to be a nurse and tell myself not to stop until I am there. I would also take the time to educate myself on credit and tell myself to not touch credit cards unless it is a serious emergency. Something non school related would be that I would tell myself to try harder with my father. He was deployed over seas several times while growing up and it put a very large strain on our relationship and as a teenager I really didn't understand what was happening. I would tell myself to email him every day he is gone just to simply say, "I love you" so that he knows I care and is in my thoughts every day. I would strive the younger me to be the strong woman I am today, sooner.

I would give myself the advice to "enjoy the moment", and enjoy the college experience and really savor the next four years of life. I was a little too rigid in college and focused only on the academic side of school. My grades were very good and I got a good job, however, the more I look back on it, the more I realize that college is about education and about really enjoying the college experience. I just feel that I did not take advantage of all of the "extras" that were offered in college to make myself more well rounded. As they say "carpe diem", or seize the day as you go to college, and enjoy everything the college has to offer; not just the academics but really get involved in the whole college experience.
