Making the most of the college experience depends almost entirely on your state of mind. If you want to have fun, meet people, learn and experience new things, then you will. If you don't, you won't. Things will fall into place. Go with your gut and do what is right for YOU.

What's the one thing you wish someone had told you about freshman year?

I can't think of anything I wish I had known. I was pretty well-informed.

What do you consider the worst thing about your school? Why?

There is NEVER enough parking. Finding a spot and getting to class on time is always a hassle.

Find a college that you can see yourself happy at. Education is the top priority, but you also have to have fun, too. It's going to be the best years of your life.

What's the one thing you wish someone had told you about freshman year?

I transferred to Rhode Island College my sophomore year and it was the best chose I made. I am very happy here and the only thing I really wish I had known was that it had the same curriculum the other school had that I attended my freshmen year. I would have saved a bit more money.

What kind of person should not attend this school?

Everyone can attend this school. This school has everything a student is looking for, whether it be from the facilities to the clubs available. The people who really wouldn't fit in are those who have majors that Rhode Island College doesn't have. But even at that, people can find majors relatively close to that of their intended major.

What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

If at all possible do not let cost be a limiting factor; try all you can to get money for the school you think would be your best match. Also always try to go above and beyond requirements for your assignments whenever possible; and whenever there is flexibility in assignments try to focus them on something you are passionate about, because it will benefit you much more in the real world than if you just get through the assignments.

What kind of person should attend this school?

A liberal person looking for a small school with a good teacher education program that does not mind taking an extra year or two to get a high quailty education.

Describe how your school looks to someone who's never seen it.

RIC is small, but it does the job well.

What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

Follow your gut. Even at the young and supposedly naive age of 18, you know what's right for you. Every college has flaws, and students at every college have complaints--but every college has its own diamonds in the rough. Trust your instinct, and be positive. Everything will work out best if you are where you want to be.

What do you consider the worst thing about your school? Why?

The lack of efficient communication. It is virtually impossible for any student on this campus to get a straight answer to a question without wasting time and an excessive amount of heartache.
