The location of the college is very central, nothing is far away from your reach. Whether its dorm buildings, classrooms, or even resturants and downtown.

Sam

Roanoke has great food compared to the majority of dining halls across the nation. The campus is beautiful and there is a lot of outdoor activities to do that are not far from campus. Class sizes are small which allows for every student to get to know the professor and vice versa. The liberal arts education that is taught will really be beneficial to all students in the future.

Brandon

The size of the school and the number of course majors is very unique to any college. Roanoke College is a small, private college that has more majors than a few universities I had considered. The amount of students per class is astounding, the idea of needing help and being able to talk to a professor one on one is amazing. Instead of waiting in a line of 100 students or have a professor not notice individuals, I will have a person who will talk and help me out for my needs, not the needs of 200 people.

Samantha

Roanoke College offers a liberal arts education that challenges students to think critically. Additionally, community service is an integral part of many courses, and makes what students are taught in the classroom come alive. The small number of students allows for each student to be individually recognized, which fosters personal relationships with professors and other students. No other college I considered valued personal attention or community service as much as Roanoke College, and both are very important to me.

How pretty the campus and surrounding area is

Benjamin

I considered a lot of schools in my area. Most of them are very large and very well known public universities. What is unique about my school is that it fits my learning style. It is not a huge college surrounded by a huge college town, it is in a very remote area. It also has a beautiful campus, some very high accredidations and esteem in the community, and most importantly, it is small enough to give me the one on one education I need to really learn.

Jeremy

The opportunities that Roanoke College provides are greater than any other private school of the same size. I have been able to participate in Catholic Campus Ministry, Greek life, and a research assistance program during my first year here on campus.

Hailey

Roanoke was a small, comfortable place that I could picture myself at for four years. The admissions counselors and professors were all very enthusiastic about the students who wanted to come here. Roanoke was extremely helpful with my financial situation and offered many services to students. Many of my friends were in the Success program which required students who were accepted with lower grades to attend study hall hours during the week. I thought this was an awesome program that other schools should look into.

Courtney

We have a campus activities board that is determined to have awesome stuff every weekend, such as popular concerts, game nights, ice skating, and many dances that are all-age friendly.

Courtney

Roanoke is unique for it's somewhat untraditional unique dorm rooms, it's GOOD campus food, it's very active career services, it's small classes, and it's very active professors who invest themeselves in the classroom and all over campus as well.

Dayla

I think that Roanoke College has a unique atmosphere. It is set in a beautiful location, if has great food, personable staff, wonderful professors with real world experience, and small class sizes. When you get here they really make it feel like home. The natural beauty of the campus is breath-taking and the college is always expanding, with technology and with their buildings.

Alex

My time at Roanoke thus far has been a blast! There are so many ways to get involved on campus that it is nearly impossible not to make friends. Being from the Northeast, I was both intrigued and nervous about coming to school in a small, southern town, but the balance of students from the North and South has definitely made the transition easier. Professors are all incredibly approachable. I would HIGHLY recommend getting to know as many of them as possible; they're all so interesting! Another thing I love about Noke is the surrounding valley. The mountains are beautiful and while I've never really been a person who connects with nature, hiking some of the nearby trails has opened my eyes to an interest I never knew I had. Another great thing about Roanoke is its on-campus job opportunities for students. As an English major with a concentration in Communications, I have always been interested in going into Public Relations. I am now currently a student assistant with the college's Public Relations office and am getting real-world experience in the field of my interest. I will also graduate with three year of real experience under my belt, which will allow me to stand out among other prospective job applicants. Roanoke College is truly a great place that fosters learning and personal connections in a classic college atmosphere.

Chris

I love it here. I'm going to cherrish the next three years to the utmost. If youre thinking about coming here, think some more. We have the best blend of a great education with the most fun you can have. I would compare us to a smaller UVa. It's not for everybody but its definately for me.

Katy

Roanoke College places an emphasis on community service and the feeling of community does not end on the grounds but carries onoto the streets of Salem. Salem, Virginia is a town that thoroughly supports their college maybe because Roanoke is a college that thoroughly supports their community. Roanoke understands that each of their student have a different set of strengths and weaknesses so they provide many opportunities to serve in different ways. Some examples include tutoring children, stocking food pantries and reading bedtime stories to children in the local shelter.

Erin

It's not too big, not too small. It has a gorgeous campus and is located in a small town, which helps give the feel of a close-knit community. The other schools I applied to were northern schools. Roanoke is nice because it has exposed me to a different culture and "southern hospitality".

Tara

The strength of the academic community. The professors are AMAZING, helpful, very intelligent, and very knowledgeable in their fields. They all publish frequently and are held to the highest standards of conduct by the administration. At the same time they are perfectly approachable and will form strong relationships with their students. Small class size makes it easy to have intense discussions with them, as well as their great office hours.
