Roanoke College Top Questions

What do you consider the worst thing about your school? Why?

Matthew

The Worst thing about this school is the fact that there is such a big gap between the school and the students. Although the school will tell you they listen to the students and communicate with the students and help them out. The truth is they dont, although there are many faculty memebrs that truly enjoy working with the students and helping them, the overall executives at this school could care less. The amount of money that it cost to go there I would expect alot more of that money to actaully be put towards the students, not salaries.

Kaitlin

Nothing.

Courtney

I would say that the worst thing about my school is the segregation between different social and academic groups. I feel that the campus would be much more holistic if groups were able to put aside labels and be friends with whoever they wanted.

Abby

The worst thing about my school are the people because most of them are so unfriendly. The amount of tuition is bad, too. I feel like the tuition here is too high. It is a private school, but there should still be some control because not everyone can afford it.

Laura

That it is very small and the cafeteria is very repetitive.

Kassie

Sometimes the school seems very undiverse, and people seem all the same, however if you look hard enough you begin to find people who are different and don't fit a cookie cutter criteria.

Brittany

The worst thing is that most of the buildings that almost all students will eventully have a class in are old and need to be remolded.

Brandon

I feel like the school is great, but the worst thing about it is the cost. For a small, liberal arts institution, it costs way too much, even though you do recieve a good education.

Greg

I feel the worst thing about Roanoke college is the fact we do not have good food. We have the commons and the the cavern, both of which are just ok. Also there is nothing open after 9 pm so if your hungry you have to walk to sheetz which is a good mile and a half.

Aaron

Professors and advisors are borderline incompetent. Next to no academic strain. No drive to learn or research on one's on will encouraged.

Katelyn

There is a lot of writing. Usually, we have 2 essays, an essay form midterm, and a final. Sometimes, we don't even have a midterm. There is a lot of pressure to do well on everything--if you mess up on one paper or exam it could cost you your grade.

francena

sometimes feels to small other times feels to big

Tara

The cost! It's a cute, small school with great professors and a beautiful campus and surrounding area. But...the price is a bit outrageous. You'll have fun while you're there, but once you start to pay back the loans you start to wonder if it was worth all that money.

Chastity

We don't have our own football team and no availability of sports scholarships for the level we are at. I believe more athletics, especially football, would increase school pride and would increase competition for diverse applicants because the school would be more well known and ethnically diverse individuals, who tend to have lower grades, would be more likely to attend college where they can play sports and need good grades to play.

Erica

Very judmental and people car emore about how they look and who they hang out with then their grades

Sophia

Not diverse. Very conservative and expensive (not worth the money). Students are apathetic.

Stacey

Very Small. Mostly everyone is rich.
